If it’s a single season award, how is Barr now not in the lead for the Hodge? Doesn’t he have 100% bonus rate? Mendez is definitely behind Messenbrink now after getting pushed to OT.

JC, I wasn’t on board last night but watched the semis this morning. What’s your thoughts on Stanich? He seemed bigger and stronger than Jesse as he pursued him throughout the match. I sensed Jesse felt his strength and wasn’t as offensive as normal. I think if the two met again it could be a slightly different outcome. How did you see the match?

Barr might just get OW and Hodge…if Davino holds him to decision and Barr bonuses then he would have TF and MD his way through the tournament. And let’s be honest the only real challenge Jax had before Davino was Seidel. That bracket was extremely one sided. Iowa did a fantastic job at the tourney…Brands would warrant that.

When Jax inevitably wins, could he have a real shot at it? His competition is light years ahead of the other's weight classes it seems and he's been absolutely phenomenal. Hell, last year's champ in that weight class wrestled for 7th and 8th this year.

From the Dan Hodge Foundation: 

"...the Dan Hodge Trophy is based on seven criteria including record, a number of pins, dominance, past credentials, quality of competition, sportsmanship/citizenship, and heart.

The trophy is based primarily on the results of a single season, but past accomplishments are considered as well, particularly in years where the competition is tighter."

If these are accurate criteria, I'd say it's between Mendez and Messenbrink. Barr has been crazy dominant, but I'm not sure he wins the other categories. Watching Mendez secure the takedown in last night's semi-finals is, for me, more an argument for the 'heart' category and less a strike against dominance.

Hey Jokemonster: It's far, far easier to win a lightweight class as an underclassman (in this case a 19 year old freshman) than upper weights, you cretin, despite the talent there.  It just shows you rationalize rather than reason and work from your conclusion backwards to your (absent) evidence (e.g., "Duke is strong and wins. Ergo, he must be on PEDs).  You have no clue how logical analysis operates.

You also speak like the Orange Stain himself—all hyperbole and emotionally-based superlatives ("inevitably", "light years ahead", "absolutely phenomenal").     

Go back to wasting your time on electronic games.  You are out of your league

From the research I did last night, the answer is no, at least in the modern era. And yes, the switch to the three point TD and four point NF has a great effect on Bonus rates.
