I think you misunderstood the part about under wing. TandT have invaluable resources, information , doner connections, knowledge of Iowa’s administration personalities, that facilitate a smooth coaching transition. It doesn’t have to be that way, but seems if possible, it would be good for all involved. Out going coaches, incoming coaches, administrators. And yes he does need to learn about Iowa, like any prospective coach coming in any job. The only thing is if Donny and Brands can and are willing to. Don’t think there is a negative side to it.

That s interesting. I do like easing Pritzlaff into the top spot. And the time is not right to dismiss the Brands. They do a lot of things right, contrary to what the naysayers want to believe. Pritzlaff has a lot to learn about running a machine like Iowa. And sharing the responsibility with TandT takes away a lot of pressure.

We have the group Purdue , Indiana , Northwestern, Michigan State, Maryland. Wisconsin is trending this way if not careful. No calling anyone out, just looking at the trend in the conference most years, lately. Without landing an in state elite or two, and retaining your developed guys it is impossible to move in the conference most years. Contending with the hammer schools in the conference. I don’t really see how it will change. Coaching is one thing ,recruiting and retaining talent is totally different.

The conference has the perennial bottom feeders that never get a chance at the elite level in state athletes. Michigan State can be counted in that group.

Michigan state isn’t the only team in the conference that is a wrestling waste land. Big Ten from top to bottom ,doesn’t throw its weight around anymore. Kids see other opportunities and programs that are producing. With social media coaches recruit all over the country better.
