  1. Nice. Funny guy.
  2. Looks like the Mirasola’s would fit into OkSt lineup very nicely. And Zach Ryder for that matter. Hell, might as well throw Braden Davis into the mix in Stillwater.
  3. Two accomplished this feat in 2025, Figueroa and Alirez. Both went 1-2. What happened to these guys this year? And how often has this happened in the past?
  4. Totally disagree with the OP. I thought majority of the matches were fantastic. And pretty awesome that 8 out of the 10 champs this year were first-time champs, which is pretty incredible considering 7/10 weight classes had at least 1 returning champ in the mix.
  5. You forgot… Best no-timer - John Trenge
  6. I am from PA. Wrestled in central PA (district 3). Lehigh Univ class of ‘98. But I’m still picking Nolf.
  7. Uetake, no doubt about it. However, let’s debate the more modern era with guys that had 4 seasons to compete in, but only won 3. Who was the best of them? For me, my short list is between Zain, Nolf, Nickal, Ruth, Spencer. I’m gonna say Jason Nolf.
  8. How many Hodge trophies did Sanderson win? And who has the most?
  9. That’s a good point you make. Another way to eclipse Cael’s career…no losses, win 4, no RS.
  10. Agree with all of this except the last statement. For me, Sanderson’s collegiate career can only be eclipsed by a wrestler who wins 4 NCAA titles, goes undefeated, and wins 4 Hodge trophies. I’m not overly familiar with Uetake’s career. If he went 3/3 and was undefeated, I’d put him even with Sanderson, and above Dake.
  11. For me, I would say 5 is relevant only because he accepted the burden of pursuing it. As history has shown, there are no guarantees. There is a constant emergence of new talent that challenges the great ones. There is the risk of injury. If he doesn’t win #5, I have to think his legacy is tarnished. So there has to be some relevance to him going for it. However, if he does win #5, I still rank Dake ahead of him because for me, going 4/4 without a red-shirt and at 4 different weight classes is a more impressive accomplishment than going 5/5.
  12. If he wins a 5th title on Saturday, where does CStarr rank amongst the best ever collegiate D1 wrestlers?
  13. With this being the last year of wrestlers being able to take advantage of a 5th year of eligibility due to the Pandemic, I wanted to remember which senior D1 wrestlers were highly likely to win an NCAA title in 2020 had the tournament taken place. The one that comes to mind first was Vincenzo Joseph. Which other seniors that year had a solid shot at top of the podium?
  14. Nickal had some interesting ones, some cringe worthy. Remember him saying something to the effect…this is what we do at Penn State, we win national titles.
  15. “Excuses are for wusses”
  16. Vito’s dad in Vito’s post-championship interview was a favorite of mine.
  17. Movie also made McD and Brands look like John Lawrence and the Cobra Kai sensei.
  18. Andrew Long and Troy Nickerson were the 2 guys that beat Robles in the NCAA tournament during his junior year when he finished 7th. I wonder what those guys thought of the movie.
  19. Just watched Unstoppable, and although entertaining, I wonder why it was so historically inaccurate. Couple things included in the movie that didn’t really happen or were inaccurate… Arizona State losing their wrestling program in Robles’ sophomore year. Matt McD (as a sophomore) beating Robles (in his junior year) in the NCAA finals for McD’s 2nd straight NCAA title. Movie also said McD was undefeated in his collegiate career going into the NCAA finals when he beat Robles I imagine the movie fictionized the above for more dramatic effect…but it’s weird that it’s about Robles’ career at ASU but is far from accurate. Kind of ruined it for me. His actual career and achievements are phenomenal enough, I don’t see the point of making a movie that isn’t accurate.
  20. I give the nod to Akari Fujinami…she was miles above the field and it wasn’t even close. Honorable mentions go to Razambek Zhamalov and Mijain Lopez. If I could name an OW per discipline, those would be the three.
  21. David Goggins vs a member of the US Men’s gymnastics team…who wins a pull-up contest?
  22. If Spencer, Zain and Dake challenged 3 guys on the Men’s Gymnastics team to a pull-up contest, who would win?
  23. Who’s standing in the way of Hamiti winning a NC at 165 next season? Mesenbrink or Haines? Caliendo? Ramirez? O’toole and Starocci going 174 next season?
  24. With Dean Hamiti transferring, how much do his chances of winning a NC go up now that he’ll be under the tutelage of DT?
  25. Starocci’s comments clearly demonstrate his immaturity and the fact that he’s a classless individual. I feel sorry for him. Wonder what Cael thinks of this?
