  1. The wrong with high confidence schtick will play well here
  2. All aboard the pastry hype train. Marseller, Meeks, Manville... MitchMess?
  3. Maybe he did it to fulfill a NIL deal ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
  4. Polygenesis is a thing, but then again he's restated posts nearly word for word as his own opinion and was called out for it on the previous board
  5. I mean, FRL is entertainment so glass houses and stones and such. The show is fine, I like hearing Askren and it's sorta funny that CP seems to be afraid of him and doesn't throw shade his way like he used to with Willie, Nomad, and Bratke. Flo has been sh!tting on the online forums for years yet several of their staff read and post on them, and they use them as a free source of content. Pyles repeatedly states his disdain for those on the forums, yet has had countless takes over the years that were very obviously cribbed directly from message board users.
  6. Did he GS last season?
  7. For a while, I thought he was in danger of HEW. The situation was not kind to him and you could see his mental struggles. Glad he made it through to the other side, no doubt as stronger, better person.
  8. To be fair, Murin wrestled out of his natural weight for half his career, then plagued with injuries after Lugo graduated. Not making excuses for the guy, but I do think he's a better wrestler than what we see on paper.
  9. 111. https://osc.uiowa.edu/sports-wagering-investigation
  10. Fair point. I'd take a healthy Siebrecht over Chittum at this point.
  11. The gambling thing could turn out to be a lot worse, but big picture, both are a couple of speedbumps in the road.
  12. At this point some of us are just wishing they could make it to a run, never mind the medium run. Everyone is too banged up (Spencer, Ayala, Siebrecht, Murin, Assad, Brands, Schriever, Kemerer, Clark, Marinelli, Eierman...)
  13. Maybe? We don't know the full story yet, but what is known is that over 100 individuals across 5 sports have been implicated, 26 of which are current athletes, and an employee from the Iowa Athletics Department. The IBOR is involved and has recommended that the University bring in outside legal counsel to help manage an investigation into possible criminal conduct (related to sports betting) and NCAA violations, and avise the administration on navigating the process with the NCAA. The buck stops with Barta, so who knows if his job is safe.
  14. It depends on how the punishment comes down. You assume it will be on the individuals, but since the infractions spanr multiple athletes and staff across multiple sports it's also likely that the NCAA punishes Iowa Athletics for a culture of noncompliance, which could lead to recruiting and postseason bans. If that looks to be the case, Barta will probably self-impose some sort of sanction on the offending sports before the NCAA makes a ruling. Not having a postseason could be really bad news and may affect recruiting, transfers, and NIL money.
  15. Does gambling increase or decrease ducking?
  16. What if... we had a training center... maybe even an Olympic training center for wrestling... an Olympic training center where high level resident athletes could train... together... and get coaching and instruction... from veteran World and Olympic level wrestlers...
  17. Salary reporting can be tricky and is not always an apples to apples comparison, so grain of salt and all that. • Sometimes the salary is fully loaded (benefits added), sometimes not • Bonus structure is often not included but can be significant compared to base salary • Performance based bonuses can fluctuate wildly from year to year • Figures don't include outside money like camp income, paid sponsorships, and booster perks
  18. Sure, just have those up and comers make the National Team. Selection criteria were created by a committee of folks from the USAW Olympic Committees, coaches, and current athletes. Those up and comers are also free to enter the Spanish Grand Prix, Deglane, Dan Kolov, Bill Farrell, Yarygin*, and other international tournaments through their RTC. Plenty of opportunities for younger guys to go out and compete.
  19. Good call. All this time I had it in my head that Pletcher lit Starocci up in high school but you're right, it was Sasso
  20. Tweeting about payback for losing to Griffith like 7+ years ago when he was a sophomore in hs
  21. What kind of odds do you give a Spencer Lee run at next year's Olympic team? I'd like to see it happen but think it'll too steep of a climb. Also I'm not sure he'll actually be 100% physically and mentally a year from now. 2028 might be more realistic with some World hardware along the way. I expect 57kg to clear out a bit over the next cycle (Gilman may retire or move up?) and Spencer will have some serious man strength over the younger Uxx guys coming up.
