  1. It's great that the Pac12 is broadcasting this for free but I wish they could bring us a little closer to the action. Feels like we're watching a feed from a security cam up on the ceiling.
  2. Did I hear correctly that Cunningham's kids are going to PSU next year? Will they be in the lineup? I don't know anything about them.
  3. Nelson Brands shoots from space and takes everyone down. He wins 174 and does a victory celebration that becomes a viral dance sensation on TikTok.
  4. I would pay good money to see this.
  5. IMO Spencer is up there on the GOAT list but I will admit that simple biology demographics tells us that it's probably harder to be a GOAT in the 149-174 range. Law of averages suggests that there are more average sized people than tiny or giant people. With more participation in the middle of the bell curve you are more likely to have more elite wrestlers in the middle weights. And biologically most people don't stop growing until their early 20s. A lot of 125ers grow out of the weight by the time they are seniors and arguably, stronger and more skilled wrestlers. So that's something to consider when talking GOATS.
  6. Nice... I wanna see it happen at 133. "And RBY has just won his third NCAA title as he makes his way to the podi- wait... what the... what's this?... that song... Wild Thing... that... OH MY GOODNESS, THAT'S AUSTIN DESANTO'S WALK OUT MUSIC!"
  7. Now that's too crazy even for this thread
  8. Speaking of! For anyone wondering how Steen could possibly have gotten past Lee to win 125, it turns out that Spencer's knees and gas tank were also just an act. He bumps up to 133 as an unseeded entry and wins Big Tens and Nationals. Fix changes his Insta handle to _second_greatest_ever_ and Spencer becomes the next NCAA president. Book it!
  9. We see Pat Glory take the mat Saturday night walking around at ~170. During a long break in the action (to review a replay, no doubt), he whips out a bottle of ranch dressing from under his singlet and starts eating buffalo wings in his corner. The following year, the rules committee rejects a push-out rule in favor of a no finger foods rule.
  10. Wrong answers only Gary Steen was faking it all along and steamrolls his way through the brackets to win a title.
  11. It's a good promotion opportunity for mid-major programs at home for sure. I was wondering if they get paid when they take a road dual with a big program. In football and basketball (especially football) small programs generate a lot of revenue by scheduling away games with power 5 teams even though they get beaten badly. But it may be different in non-revenue sports like wrestling.
  12. Do programs make money by scheduling nonconference road duals that are not home and homes?
  13. I modestly propose...
  14. Huh? In soccer the stoppage time gets added to the match clock after the time expires (and the teams don't know exactly how much time is added, so the half could end suddenly at any time which is exciting. But longer periods and matches in wrestling would be the point. The replay stoppage time clock would work as a deterrent. It also takes away the idea of using challenges as lung timeouts.
  15. Point taken
  16. 6 champs sounds like a stretch. I am expecting PSU to win 2 or 3 weights though they have a habit of pulling off some tournament magic every year. Of course that article pumps up PSU's chances, it was a puff piece written for the Penn State fan blog and not a real SI sports writer.
  17. PSU won't break the record.
  18. But I think RBY and Fix are stronger
  19. I was thinking more like he hasn't been pushing himself or trying very hard in most of his matches. Same with RBY. Vito I think could outscramble RBY and Fix, and he has a little bit of a height advantage that could be problematic. I just don't know if he has the horsepower.
  20. Savage Part of me thinks RBY or Fix will get what's coming to them at NCAAs for not going hard 100% this season, but that's probably not happening.
  21. I really enjoyed the Max Dean exciting last regular season match era.
  22. ESPN pays the NCAA to broadcast Nationals. They have a contract for exclusive media rights of the D1 wrestling tournament. I can't recall if the wrestling deal is bundled with the broadcast rights for other NCAA sports. BIG+ and Pac12 Network money goes to the conferecnces. Flo money probably goes to Flo, idk.
  23. Maybe ADS taught Lee that cartwheel. Fortunately he didn't finish with a Kimura on Witcraft. Sorry, just joking. Go Hawks
  24. Would be ideal for Zeke if Ysa could cut to 133 but he doesn't look so small at 141 right now.
