The NCWA (National Collegiate Wrestling Association) has has a 235 pound class in addition to the NCAA weights since the 1998-1999 season. That was the same year that the NCAA increased heavyweight from 275 to 285 and was the last year that the other weights changed as well. At the time the NCAA debated adding a weight class below heavyweight, but due to bureaucracy it didn't happen. But the NCWA, being solely devoted to wrestling and having less bureaucracy, added the weight class with a flip of a switch and it's been a great thing since then.
