  1. Fair enough. But Sadulaev's replacement is likely to be Khaniev, who just beat Snyder 10-4, so not sure that helps his chances much.
  2. you class that as a real win for Snyder? OK, buddy. Enjoy.
  3. As expected, Mamivand, Shamsipour and Mohammadnezhad each reached the finals today. The other two will wrestle for bronze. A better day than yesterday. we should be able to win the FS team title if the medal matches go well, but it will be close with India, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
  4. I find it hilarious that Americans will pretend to care about women wrestling (which is clearly forced on everyone) but draw the line at greco.
  5. Teymorizad had a weird final against KGZ and got pinned. Esmi went life and death with India and finally won gold 15-10 at 79kg. This U20 FS team is bad. Mamivand, Shamsipour, and Mohammadnezhad tomorrow should medal, but we are probably looking at 2-3 FS golds overall.
  6. U20 Asians is happening Iran won the GR team title with 5 golds (Shamsipour, Gharibi, Hosseini, Mohammadi, and Abdevali). Shamsipour (55kg) and Mohammadi (97kg) have great potential. the FS team is not as good, 2/5 in the finals today (Teymorizad and Esmi) and 1 in the bronze match (Pirdayeh). but tomorrow should be better with Mamivand, Shamsipour and Mohammadnezhad U20 worlds is next month
  7. Remember when Americans would tell us to keep politics out of sport? Hilarious.
  8. Drawing against Belgium is a great result for Iran, considering all the terrible obstacles Iran is facing. We still have a chance to progress to the next round if we beat Egypt.
  9. Tazhudinov has fallen off massively and lost to several wrestlers before he faced Snyder at RAF. Sadulaev would be a MUCH bigger favourite against Snyder than Tazhudinov. Snyder beat Azarpira with a late caution point and suddenly you guys think he has a shot against Sadulaev... In for a rude awakening once you remember who Sadulaev is.
  10. You're right, I forgot about Kiyooka. But this is Bo's senior worlds debut, and I think he loses to Amouzad, Mamedov and is 50/50 at best against Sujeet, Jalolov and Ibragimov. So he will need a good draw and some luck to win bronze.
  11. You gotta be trolling, right? You're counting the injury forfeit as a Snyder win? Good luck man.
  12. reasonable picks except for 65 and 97. Snyder to beat Sadulaev? In what universe?
  13. Marcus Blaze does not beat Uguev, lets be serious. in what universe does 35 year old Dake have a "solid shot at gold" at 86kg considering he just lost 11-4 to Kadiev and then to Dzhioev back to back a few months ago? That is not even including Ghasempour or Ramazanov. I think team USA only has a realistic shot at gold at 57 (20-30% chance), 79 (40-50% chance), and 92 (50-60% chance). 57kg is extremely competitive and unpredictable. 79kg will be tougher this year with Usmanov and Nokhodi back on form, but Haines looks very good. Trent has a good shot at gold, but he has to get through Russia again (some would say he was a bit fortunate last year) and he hasn't wrestled Firouzpour yet.
  14. he has almost 4 more months to get ready for worlds, so that is good news
  15. yes, returning medalists only need to win 1 match while challengers have to win 2/2 Azarpira wasted his challenge in the first period, the scoring of that decisive moment for Yazdani was very debatable, but it's over now so instead he should learn to be less passive next year
  16. TBF, Zahid lost twice since then. But Dake seems past his best and Zahid owns the match up lately.
  17. does anyone give Dake a chance at 86 against Zahid?
  18. i still don't understand why he didn't take a year at 92kg to slowly build up to 97kg, he would easily win gold there maybe he will surprise us, but 97kg is the strongest it has been in a long time Snyder was pushed out a lot by Azarpira, so Yazdani could do it, but Snyder is very physical and will wear on Yazdani Sadulaev's passivity might be good for Yazdani's style but he is on another level this year so forget about it
  19. Azarpira seems worse now somehow, he just lost to Yoshida 5-0 or something like that recently a more dynamic and aggressive wrestler will cause Yazdani a lot of problems
  20. Firouzpour only had to win one match, and wins the spot at 92kg with his 2-1 win over Azimi after losing 2-2 in their first match Quite an odd way to make the team by going 1-1 with Azimi and his one win was based on 2 passivity points!
  21. I don't think that was a factor. Yazdani didn't look gassed at any point. Azarpira was very passive throughout both matches and has his own conditioning issues. I agree that Yazdani will struggle against the top guys at 97kg. But beating Azarpira twice in a row is impressive, I didn't expect it. We will see some great match ups. Snyder dominated Ghasempour twice at 97kg. The monster match up is Sadulaev vs Yazdani. Sadulaev will defeat him easily but it will be a historic match in any case.
  22. Amir Yazdani beats Emami twice and wins the spot at 74kg Azimi and Firouzpour go 1-1 and will wrestle a third match Yazdani beats Azarpira twice and wins the spot at 97kg Azarpira wasn't happy with how the decisive action was scored in the second period but he was very passive for both matches
  23. Amir Yazdani 10-6 Younes Emami Mobin Azimi 2*-2 Amir Firouzpour Hassan Yazdani 4-2 Amir Ali Azarpira
