Beard was not the starter because Cael benched him instead of trying to develop him. But I will play the game a little, how about Alex Facundo? Isn’t he supposed to be a top tier wrestler and isn’t he entering the portal? I could be wrong but I believe he is. Where is the loyalty? Seth Nevills? Wasn’t good enough in Cael’s eyes so instead of trying to develop him further, he recruits over him and benched him. He walks into these kids homes, tells their parents everything they want to hear like, he will be in the best hands and I will take good care of your child and once someone better comes along…sorry, you got to go. Keep in mind I am not saying Cael does not have the right to do it but to try and say he isn’t loyal is unfair as well.

Until an A. C. Slater wants to rebel against his dad, skip the military and wrestle for a PSU team, you really haven’t done crap. Once that happens, come talk to me about how hated a fan base is. Their fans do make it unbearable this time of year but I also dislike them because Cael. He has done nothing to help grow the sport and some would say his actions have hurt the sport more than anything. He is one of the most disloyal coaches around and would cut his own grandma if it meant making his team a little better. There has always been a great debate on who develops their guys better and I would make an argument that Cael would rather cut his guys than help them develop. Of course I know this is all within his rights but he just seems like a complete tool.

I wish Schwab had more money there at UNI. He always seems to get the best out of his wrestlers come this time of year. It would be cool to see what he might be able to do if he could get some top level recruits.

You've already made this post! Yes, Iowa paid money for wrestlers who are only going to get them 1 point. Yes, PSU is still a giant and went 20-0. And I will take care of this right now as I am sure at some point you are going to bring up Spencer because you can't seem to keep his name out of your mouth for more than 20 second. Spencer is not going to coach Iowa anytime soon. But honestly, has PSU really overperformed? Yes, going 20-0 is unheard of but isn't their lowest seed an 8 seed and he is right where he belongs. Now, if he wins today you can say he overperformed but right now, they are all right where they belong. I would say teams like Nebraska and Lehigh have had really good showings. So maybe talk about them and stop repeating your posts. And when you really think about it, how much is Iowa "underperforming"? Only one guy you mentioned, Parco, has kind of laid an egg but it seems like he is really injured so how much of this is his fault. Yes Iowa paid money for Teemer BUT he was only an 18 seed and he wasn't supposed to go far anyway according to the seeds. Cruz - Wasn't supposed to do much and he didn't Ayala - right where he is supposed to be Caliendo - Stud and probably walks to a Championship if it wasn't for MM. I am not sure how good Hall is but Caliendo seems to be on a mission this year Kennedy - Above his seed right now Arnold - 11 seed so wasn't supposed to win his match last night Buchanan - taking care of business. Not sure he can beat AJ but he could win a championship Kueter - Right where he is supposed to be. So really, according to seed, right were they are supposed to be. Didn't Iowa do this in 08 or 09? I believe one of those years when they won 3 straight they didn't have an individual winner. Am I wrong with that? I believe that was the year Metcalf lost to Caldwell.

I am sure there are better informed people on here than me so please excuse me if this is completely and totally out of the box but why can’t they cut the bottom 2 weights and add them between the gap of 197 and HWT? I know I know, it wouldn’t completely “solve” the issue because most wrestlers cut weight but wouldn’t it be a start? We are talking about grown men trying to cut weight to 125 and 133LBS. I can’t image that is health for anyone even someone who walks around at 5’ 5” or whatever those guys walk around at. Imagine Spencer being able to start closer to his Olympic weight at 141 instead of 125? Guys can still be athletic at 210 and 220 lbs or wherever they would add those weights. Heck, most of the heavy’s never reach the 285 anymore anyway. Anyway, again, I am only a fan and am not trying to change the sport, just adding to the conversation and seeing if anyone has insight as to why this can’t happen. Is it because, this is how it has always been? I know the weights have changed over the years and I do believe they were even lighter back in the day.

Joey Slayton comes to mind, although I am not sure if he got worse or if his first year was just luck. Alex Tsirtsis is another one but again, I am not sure he got "worse" in college, I just know he was a very high recruit coming out of high school. Didn't one of the Alton brothers fade out at the end of his career?

Two things are certain right now in wrestling, Penn State has had a great run and you will never pay your debts. You should be as committed to paying your debts as you are to creating a new post every 3 seconds on this board.

Should PSU lose a team point for Davis throwing his headgear? Or do you only lose a point if you slam it down? Not that it will matter in the end but I thought if you threw your gear like that you get docked a team point? Plus, lose with some class. It's only about "fun" in the PSU room.

I got to say it is good to see a higher (and by higher I mean against his opp. not his actual seed) seeded PSU guy go down so early. You normally don't see that out of a PSU guy.

Of course they would…anything to help out PSU. LOL I kid, they deserve to have it there again before 2035. Matter of fact, this tourney should never be held outside of places like, Iowa, PSU, Ohio St. Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska and maybe Rutgers to hit that NJ market. The big ten is doing themselves absolutely no favors by holding this amazing tourney in places that basically don’t care about wrestling. You could make arguments for teams like NU and Wisconsin but holding this at Purdue, Michigan State and Maryland is stupid. So many empty seats and lost money.
