The National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum has new digs ... online, that is. The official website for the Hall has a whole new look, and even a new website address: www.nwhof.org. (If you bookmarked the previous locations -- or committed their addresses to memory -- don't worry. They'll still get you to the new website.) What's more, for the first time, it brings together what had been separate websites for the Hall's two facilities in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Waterloo, Iowa into a single location online. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame website provides a wealth of information to wrestling fans and researchers no matter where they are in the world, including biographies of Hall of Fame honorees, photos of the two museums, and complete NCAA brackets going back to 1928. All these popular features -- and so much more -- are now available all together in one convenient, easy-to-use website. Let's go inside the new NWHOF website and take a look around. The new layout The first thing a visitor who used the old website will notice about the new online home of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame is that it's much cleaner, more contemporary-looking ... without being trendy. It's incredibly easy to find your way around. The primary menu of the new NWHOF website is at the top of every page, including the home page. It provides links to the major pages within the website: Home ... Stillwater ... Waterloo ... News ... Merchandise ... Support ... Calendar/Events ... State Chapters. In addition to these headers, there's also a website search box feature ... and a cool bonus: the option of customizing the accent color in the website to orange, blue, green, or gold. Let's take a quick tour of these major pages within the new NWHOF website: Stillwater: This webpage is your link to the features that are a part of the original National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum that was dedicated in 1976. Ask folks about the Stillwater facility, and many will immediately mention the Wrestling Hall of Fame, where individuals are honored for their achievements and contributions to the oldest and greatest sport. Both the actual building and the website feature separate sections for: Distinguished Members: A wrestler who has achieved extraordinary success, a coach who has compiled an outstanding record and demonstrated great leadership, or a contributor whose long-term activities have enhanced the development and advancement of the sport. Among the Distinguished Members welcomed in recent years: Cael Sanderson, Dennis Hall, Les Gutches, Rulon Gardner, and Lincoln McIlravy. Medal of Courage: Presented to a wrestler who has overcome seemingly insurmountable physical or mental challenges. Past recipients include Joe Russell, Kyle Maynard and Nick Ackerman. Order of Merit: Awarded to an individual who has made significant contribution to the sport, other than success as an athlete or coach. Sandy Stevens, Mike Chapman, and former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert are among past honorees. Outstanding American: This award honors past wrestlers who have used what they learned from the sport to achieve greatness beyond wrestling. Past honorees include U.S. Presidents and other politicians, corporate CEOs, military leaders, as well as American heroes such as Dr. Norman Borlaug and astronaut Michael Collins. Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award: Presented each year to a high school senior who demonstrates excellence on the mat, in the classroom, and in service to the community. Recent national winners include Morgan McIntosh, Logan Stieber, and David Taylor. Lifetime Achievement for Officials: This award recognizes outstanding service as a wrestling or pairing official or judge. At the website, visitors can click on any of these categories and see a year-by-year listing of award recipients. Click on an honoree's name to read about that individual. In addition to these National Wrestling Hall of Fame categories, the Stillwater section of the website also features a link to the separate website for the FILA Hall of Fame honoring international wrestlers, coaches and officials. The Virtual Tour feature brings the Stillwater Hall of Fame & Museum to wrestling fans, no matter where they are ... allowing website visitors the chance to get a 360-degree view of the major displays inside the facility located near the Oklahoma State campus. Other online resources sure to be a hit with serious historians (as well as for settling friendly bar bets) are a compelling history of the sport, and, in PDF files, NCAA brackets going back to 1928, and NCAA Guides, annual publications that covered the rules, results and photos recapping college and high school wrestling from the previous year. Waterloo: This set of pages takes the visitor to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum -- or at least a virtual version -- which was originally established in Iowa as a separate entity, and came under the National Hall of Fame umbrella in the summer of 2010. The Waterloo portion of the website features pages for its unique Halls of Fame: Glen Brand Hall of Fame of Iowa: Designed to honor amateur wrestlers who have some connection to wrestling in the state of Iowa. Among recent honorees in this facility named for the NCAA wrestling champ for Iowa State and 1948 Olympic gold medalist include Bill Zadick, Doug Schwab, Jason Smith, and the 1947 Cornell College wrestling team that won the NCAA and AAU national titles that year. Alan and Gloria Rice Greco-Roman Hall of Champions: Named in honor of the couple who has tirelessly supported Greco-Roman wrestling in the U.S., this Hall honored Rulon Gardner and the Olive and Jim Morgan family in 2011. Tragos/Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: Some of the honorees have actual amateur wrestling credentials. As with the Stillwater pages, visitors to any of the Waterloo Halls of Fame can see a year-by-year listing of honorees; click on an individual name for a biography. And, for wrestling fans who can't make the trip to the museum in the eastern Iowa city that is the hometown to Dan Gable, there's a Photo Tour that provides visuals of major highlights of the facility. News: Stories of upcoming events at both Stillwater and Waterloo. Website visitors may choose news specifically for either museum, or both. Merchandise: An online store, featuring wrestling apparel, gear, books, videos, and collectibles, among the wrestling-related items available for purchase from a visitor's home or work computer. Support: No, not tech support ... but options for visitors to support the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, including an easy-to-use online form to make a one-time donation, as well explanations of planned giving options (through the Hall's Endowment Fund), and opportunities for corporations and other organizations to contribute to the financial strength of the facilities in Iowa and Oklahoma, and their outreach efforts. Calendar/Events: A month-by-month display of happenings at the Stillwater and Waterloo museums, as well as major wrestling events throughout the nation. State Chapters: Click on this link, and up pops a map of the United States. Click on a particular state, and the visitor is taken to that state's chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Why a new online home Why the new website for the National Wrestling Hall of Fame? "The new website at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame was developed with the intent of providing the public with more information about the sports heritage and its inductees," according to Lee Roy Smith, Executive Director of the Hall. "We want to expand our reach so that more people can become inspired about the sport and our website is a vital part of this objective. This is an ever-evolving investment for our organization and we invite the wrestling community's feedback on how we can make it better." There are some more practical reasons as well. "We wanted to integrate the two facilities (Stillwater and Waterloo) into a single website to offer a consistent, uniform experience for the online user," said Krista Graff, Development and Special Events Manager for the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. "Another goal was to make the website easier to navigate," Graff continued. "The organization of the pages, and the uniform presentation of information on each page makes the new website easier to use." "We also wanted to enhance the interface between the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, and the individual state chapters. Now it's easy for someone who's visiting the Hall of Fame site to directly access the page of a chapter in a specific state, and provide each state chapter with a webpage format to make it easier for them to present information." There are additional pluses for the new website, created by GuRuStu Group, a website design and development company based in Tulsa. Graff specifically cited the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's new online home offers a greater variety of merchandise for purchase, with a user-friendly interface, and the new calendar of events feature that alerts visitors to major upcoming events at the facilities, as well as in the sport. The new website also has built-in flexibility to grow and add new features. In the future, the Hall of Fame plans to add new exhibits to its website (the African-American Experience is already online), and make its extensive collection of historic photos, films and videos available online.

The tournament returns to Rochester after rotating to both Spokane, Wash., and Des Moines, Iowa the previous two years. This season marks the 13th time the Rochester Amateur Sports Commission has hosted the NJCAA Wrestling Championships. Action begins at 9:30 a.m. (Central) Friday with first round matches and concludes with 10 championship bouts on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. with the parade of champions. ICC won the North Central District team title and has six district champions advancing to Rochester that will look to avenge last year's fourth place finish in Spokane. The Tritons boast two returning All-Americans with Brandon Wright (133 pounds) and Michael Perez (157 pounds). Wright was third in his division last year while Perez took home fifth place in the 149 pound class a year ago when he competed for Labette (Kan.). The Lynx finished in a tie for sixth place a year ago with in-state rival Harper College (Ill.) and took second behind the Hawks at the Central District Championship two weeks ago. Defending national champion Clackamas Community College (Ore.) has a strong chance to repeat as five Cougar wrestlers won individual titles at the West District Championship tournament. Four of those wrestlers have finished in the top five at nationals in their respective weight classes, including Austin Morehead who took home second place in the 184-pound division last year wrestling for Rend Lake College (Ill.). Northwest College (Wyo.) looks to improve upon its eighth place finish from a year ago in Spokane with a solid lineup this year led by 174 pounder Keith Cast. The sophomore was runner-up a year ago and is the top returning All-American in the weight class. The Trappers were second to Labette at the West Central qualifier. It was the first lead for the Maroon and Gold since after Nick Dardanes win at 141 pounds. Tony Nelson would seal the deal for the second time today. Nelson took care of the Cowboys Austin Marsden (8-1 dec.) who stepped in place of OSU's top heavyweight Alan Gelogaev, who was out with an injury. Minnesota will now rest up before heading to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Big Ten Championships. Action takes place March 3-4 (Saturday-Sunday) inside Mackey Arena. St. John, who has missed significant time since suffering a knee injury in early December, erased an early takedown by scoring a reversal and escape before flattening Jackson Morse 14 seconds into the second period. His win answered one of Illinois' two wins and extended Iowa's team lead to 15-3. The Hawkeyes were spotted another 9-0 lead by their three lower weights. Matt McDonough avenged his only loss of the season with a 6-3 win over Jesse Delgado. Tony Ramos scored a 5-2 win over B.J. Futrell, his third win in as many tries this season against the Illini, and Montell Marion earned a 6-2 win over Daryl Thomas. Mike Evans and Ethen Lofthouse squeezed a pair of decisions in between St. John and Gambrall's efforts. Evans earned a 5-1 decision and Lofthouse won his fifth straight, topping Jordan Blanton 4-2. After Gambrall clinched the dual with his major decision, Illinois got back on the board with an 11-6 win at 197. Leading the team race 25-6, Bobby Telford put the final touches on the National Duals with a 5-0 win over Illinois' Pat Walker. CLARION, Pa. -- Former Clarion University & NCAA wrestling legend Wade Schalles received the PSAC “Award of Merit†from Commissioner Steve Murray on Sunday afternoon, while the Golden Eagles defeated Lock Haven (HOURS AFTER THE MATCH WAS OVER) 19-18 by tie-breaker. The match ended tied 18-18. The interpretation immediately after the match by officials was that Lock Haven won 19-18 by virtue of tied breaker 2 – most falls in a match. It turns out that criteria 2 was not interpreted correctly. It says most falls and technical falls. Which both teams had 1 each. Now on to criteria 3, match points. Clarion wins the extra team point by virtue of a 33-28 advantage in match points. Clarion finished the season with an overall record of 6-7 and an EWL mark of 3-3. Lock Haven finished their season with a record of 4-11 and an EWL mark of 1-5. “I received a call from the NWCA after reading the match story that they thought the dual meet tie breaker was not applied correctly,†said Clarion head Coach Matt Dernlan. “ After checking with the NCAA Rules interpreter, it turns out we won the dual meet by criteria. Even if it's a little late, it's a nice way to end the regular season.†Schalles received his PSAC “Award of Meritâ€, from Commissioner Murray at special halftime ceremonies at Tippin Gym. Schalles had a career record of 153-5-1, an NCAA Record 106 pins, 4 PSAC titles with 4 “OW's†to his credit, NCAA Individual titles in 1972 and 1973 and an NCAA “OW†award in 1972. Schalles subsequently was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1991, Clarion Hall in 1989, and named to the NCAA's 75th Anniversary team in 2005 in St. Louis, when the top 15 wrestlers of all-time were recognized. “This is a very special day and for me to be here at Clarion University and accept the “Award of Merit†from Commissioner Murray,†said Schalles. “I have great memories of my days here at Clarion – they are so special. And of course I especially want to thank Coach (Bob) Bubb, who was more than a coach, he was like a father. With a nearly 100% graduation rate, you can see why he was so special.†The match started at 184 with LH's Fred Garcia defeating Steve Cressley 4-1, then Clarion's Alex Thomas notched a major decision (10-1) over Matt Parlier at 197 to give the Eagles their only lead – 4-3. Lock Haven heavyweight Harry Turner, pinned backup Brandon Contreras at 5:26, that ended up producing the match winning points. Clarion's Quintas McCorkle sat out the dual with an injury. Bobby Rehm then decisioned Trey Hicks at 125 to give LH a 12-4 lead. Clarion's Joe Waltko scored a 6-2 decision over Johnathon Childress at 133. Ahead 3-2 late in the match, Waltko's takedown with 15 seconds plus riding time left secured the win. Lock Haven took an 18-7 lead winning the next two bouts. Matt Bonson decisioned Tyler Bedelyon 10-6 in a wild match at 141-pounds. Then William Randt decisioned Cameron Moran 3-1 at 149 in a key bout. Randt registered a 2-point near fall in the second period which proved to be the winning points. Clarion rallied, down 18-7, to tie the match 18-18. #4 ranked James Fleming got the ball rolling with a 6-1 win over Aaron Fry at 157. Fleming had a first period takedown, and was close to near fall points in the first and second periods but could not finish the move. Fry was called for stalling four times in the match, three times in the third period with Fleming on top and in control, but held on to only give up a decision. Clarion's Bekzod Abdurakhmonov , ranked #5 in the nation, notched an 18-3, technical fall at 7:00 against Seth Creasy at 165. Bekzod had four takedowns in the first, one in the second, and one in the third. His three point near fall in the final ten seconds secured the technical fall, and brought the Eagles to within 18-15. Clarion's Nick Milano scored a 3-1 decision over Aaron McKinney at 174 with a takedown in the final ten seconds of the match. The win eventually provided Clarion with a big dual meet win. CLARION NOTES: The Award of Merit is the highest honor the PSAC can give … only 4 preceding hi including former Clarion and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, Olympic Gold Medalist Bruce Baumgartner, NBA coach Chuck Daly and Shipp's Steve Spence… Bekzod raised his season record to 28-4; while Fleming is 24-2… Four seniors were honored in pre-match ceremonies including Kyle Fluck, Cameron Moran, Bekzod Abdurakhmonov and Quintas McCorkle… McCorkle's injury will not keep him out of EWL's on March 4… He was held out Sunday for precautionary measures. OREGON, Ohio -- The Purdue wrestling team defeated 25th-ranked Central Michigan University (CMU) for the second time in a week on Sunday, edging the Chippewas, 19-18, at Oregon Clay High School, near Toledo. The Boilermakers took advantage of bonus-point victories from sophomore Cashé Quiroga and freshman Brandon Nelsen as they finished the dual schedule 10-10, and notched at least a .500 record for the sixth consecutive season. "It was a hard-fought win for our guys, but were happy to finish the regular season on a good note," said Boilermaker head coach Scott Hinkel. "We wanted to come out here and show this area of Ohio some exciting, NCAA Division I college wrestling, and I think we accomplished that goal today." The match opened at 125 pounds, where fans got to see the matchup they missed a week ago between Purdue sophomore Camden Eppert and 16th-ranked CMU freshman Joe Roth. Roth scored the only takedown of regulation, but Eppert countered with a second-period escape and a third-period ride-out to force sudden victory. Roth didn't waste much time in the extra frame, scoring off a double-leg and winning 4-2 to give the Chippewas a 3-0 edge. Quiroga, ranked ninth in the country at 133 pounds, opened up a solid Purdue run with a 12-4 major decision over CMU freshman Zach Horan, needing all seven minutes to secure the bonus point. Quiroga led 4-2 after takedowns in each of the first two periods, but revved it up in the third with a trio of takedowns, including one in the final second to stretch his lead to eight and put Purdue on top, 4-3. Quiroga's five takedowns give him 198 for his career, moving into 20th-place all-time at Purdue and bumping Boilermaker All-American Joe Urso from the list. Nelsen grabbed a spot in the record books as well on Sunday, scoring his ninth fall of the season to tie six former wrestlers for 17th-place on the single-season record list as he stuck Chippewa sophomore Scott Mattingly in 2:08. Mattingly countered a Nelsen shot for the first two of the bout, but Nelsen reversed Mattingly and then caught him in a cradle to score the fall and put Purdue on top, 10-3. No. 11 junior Ivan Lopouchanski increased Purdue's lead to 13-3 at 149 pounds, topping CMU freshman Ben Mattiesen, 5-3, and fellow Boilermaker junior Tommy Churchard knocked off Chippewa junior Donnie Corby for the third time this season at 157 pounds, 5-3, to make it 16-3. CMU opened up a run of its own at 165 pounds as freshman Mike Ottinger came from behind to pin Purdue sophomore Kyle Mosier at 4:23, and freshman Anthony Bill backed it up with a 4-1 decision over Boilermaker rookie Drake Stein at 174. Fourth-ranked Ben Bennett cut the Purdue lead to one, 16-15, at 184 pounds as he topped 19th-ranked Boilermaker freshman Braden Atwood, 8-1. Purdue senior A.J. Kissel ended the run at 197 pounds, dominating Craig Kelliher, 9-2. Kissel spent nearly the whole match in the top position, scoring quick takedowns in each of the three periods, but Kelliher refused to go to his back as Kissel chased the Purdue career falls record. Kissel went for the kill with seconds left in the match, but the referee stopped the hold and called unnecessary roughness, awarding Kelliher a penalty point and cancelling out a would-be major decision. With the door open, 17th-ranked CMU heavyweight Peter Sturgeon needed a major decision over Purdue sophomore Alex White to win the dual, but White did just enough to hold off his Chippewa opponent, surrendering a 7-2 decision. The Boilermakers improved to 7-4 all-time against CMU, 3-2 on neutral turf, and earned their third victory over a ranked opponent this season. Hinkel has finished at least .500 in each of his five seasons at the helm, becoming the first coach in school history to accomplish the feat. Purdue returns to action in two weeks, hosting the 2012 Big Ten Championships at Mackey Arena on March 3 and 4. Results: 125: #16 Joe Roth (CMU) def. Nick Heilmann notched the second tech fall of the dual with an 18-2 win in the 149 pound bout as he finished off Justin Belanger in 6:29. Jon Burns earned a first period pin of Joseph Evangelista to make it 28-0 before Kyle Kiss added six more points for the Tar Heels at 165 pounds. Kiss pinned Sam Sheppard in 5:33 to earn the win. Freshman Alex Utley got back to his winning ways on Sunday with a 7-3 decision win over Jonathan Rizzitello at 174 pounds before a flurry of pins. Thomas Ferguons downed Zachary Moran in 5:45 at 184 pounds followed by Zac Bennett's pin of Sam Morison at 197 pounds in 2:07 before Nick Tenpenny capped off the day with a pin of Renaldo Cuko in 1:49. Carolina fell into an early hole in the dual against the hosts, The Citadel, as Richard Alarcon and Kyle Casaletto each claimed decisions over Brian Bokoski and Brock LiVorio at 125 and 133 pounds to give The Citadel a 6-0 lead. Back-to-back major decisions from Evan Henderson, 10-2, and Nick Heilmann, 15-4, in the next two bouts pushed Carolina in front at 8-6 and Carolina never looked back. A 1-0 decision by Corey Mock over Pierre Frazile at 157 pounds pushed the lead to 11-6 before Kyle Kiss added a decision of his own to make the lead 14-6. A loss at 174 pulled The Citadel within five points at 14-9 before the duo of Thomas Ferguson and Zac Bennett rattled off back-to-back pins to seal the match for the Tar Heels and ensure a 2-0 weekend. Ferguson claimed his pin over Josh Tuck at 184 pounds less than 30 seconds into the third period. The No. 10 American University wrestling team registered four bonus point wins -- including a trio of falls -- en route to a 25-19 win over Virginia Tech Sunday afternoon in the dual meet finale in Bender Arena. After dropping a decision at 184 lbs. to open the match, Daniel Mitchell of American (8-7) earned the first pin of the day at the 2:25 mark over Virginia Tech's Nick Vetterlein. No. 1 heavywight Ryan Flores followed with a fall against Dan Norwood of Virginia Tech (8-6) at 1:53 to push AU's lead to 12-3. Mitchell picked up his sixth pin of the season while Flores moves to 14-0 on the campaign with his 10th fall. AU's momentum continued at 125 lbs. as Thomas Williams earned a thrilling 1-0 double overtime victory over the Hokies' Erik Spjut. Williams picked up an escape to begin the first 30-second extra period and then rode Spjut on top for the entire 30-second period to earn the decision. After a Virginia Tech technical fall at 133 lbs., No. 16 Matt Mariacher posted a key fall at 141 lbs. over No. 20 Zack Neibert. Mariacher took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a Neibert penalty and Neibert began the second on top, riding Mariacher for the majority of the period. But Mariacher was able to turn Neibert over late in the period and pick up the impressive fall as AU opened up a 21-8 advantage through six bouts. The Eagles dropped a decision at 149 lbs. but No. 3 Ganbayar Sanjaa clinched the match for American with a 13-4 major decision at 157 lbs. over VT's Cameron Hurd. Sanjaa led 7-2 through one period following two takedowns and a near-fall en route to the victory. Prior to the match, American's seven senior student-athletes -- Corey Borshoff, Glenn Donatelli, Flores, Mariacher, Sanjaa, Tanner Shaffer, and Williams -- were honored in a Senior Day ceremony. The senior class was part of AU's program-record fifth-place finish at last year's NCAA Championships where the Eagles earned three All-Americans and a NWCA-record six Academic All-Americans. "This was a great day for not only the seniors but our entire program," remarked Head Coach Teague Moore. "Virginia Tech is a really good squad and our guys fought hard to pull this one out. I was proud of the effort all day long and it was a fantastic way for our seniors to go out in Bender Arena." The Eagles have wrapped up the dual meet portion of the schedule with an 8-7 record and will look forward to the EIWA Championships, which will take place from March 3-4 at Princeton's Jadwin Gym. The nationally ranked duo battled through a scoreless first two minutes, with neither man finding a chance to score early. Megaludis battled the fourth year wrestler, setting the tempo with single legs early. But Zanetta blocked off every shot, working defensively for the opening period 0-0 tie. Zanetta chose down to start the second period and quickly escaped to a 1-0 lead. Megaludis nearly connected on a high single, but Zanetta's defense kept the Lion freshman from scoring. Zanetta spent the rest of the period simply tying Megaludis' shoulders up and working time off the clock. Megaludis chose down to start the third period and quickly escaped to a 1-1 tie. The Nittany Lion freshman continued to take shots while Zanetta worked his defense by locking up the Lion's shoulders. Zanetta took a shot at the 1:00 mark of the third period that Megaludis easily deflected, and action resumed in the center circle still tied 1-1. Megaludis got in on a high single with :15 left, but Zanetta was able to step out of trouble and send the bout to sudden victory tied 1-1. Megaludis continued to shoot, Zanetta continued to hang on his shoulders and the first sudden victory period went by scoreless. Zanetta chose down to start the first tied breaker and escaped at the :15 mark to take a 2-1 lead. Megaludis was down to start his tie breaker and he quickly escaped to a 2-2 tie, sending the bout into a second sudden victory. Megaludis got in on a low single leg and ended the match with :15 left, posting a 3-2 second SV decision. 133: Sophomore Frank Martellotti (Pittsburgh, Pa.) battled Panther sophomore Shelton Mack at 133. Mack had the bout's first scoring chance, working in on a single leg at the 1:55 mark, but Martellotti was able to work out of trouble and keep the bout scoreless. Martellotti then connected on a high single to double leg takedown and led 2-0 at the :23 mark. He rode Mack out to lead 2-0 after one period. Mack chose down to start the second period and quickly escaped to a 2-1 deficit. Neither wrestler was able to connect on anything offensively, with each man working low singles that the other was able to step away from. Leading 2-1, Martellotti chose down to start the third period. Martellotti chose down to start the third period and steadily worked his way to an escaped and a 3-1 lead. But the Lion sophomore was hit with a first stall warning in the process. Mack upped his pressure, forcing Martellotti into a slow shot that Mack was able to counter for a takedown and a 3-3 tie. Martellotti needed an escaped to seal a victory, but Mack was able to ride him out, build up more than a minute's riding time, and a 4-3 win. 141: Penn State junior Bryan Pearsall (Lititz, Pa.) faced off at 141 against Pitt's Travis Shaffer. Shaffer blazed out to a quick takedown and two near fall points, bolting out to a 4-0 lead less than :30 into the bout. Shaffer then put together a strong ride, maintaining control of Pearsall for the remainder of the period. Trailing 4-0 and giving up 2:51 in riding time, Pearsall chose neutral to start the second. Shaffer was able to work through a high single leg for another takedown and a 6-0 lead with 1:45 on the clock. Shaffer was able to control Pearsall once again, tacking on another minute's riding time before finally getting hit with a stall warning. Shaffer maintained control, however, for another ride out and a 6-0 lead with a clinched riding time point (4:33) heading into the third. Pearsall countered a Shaffer shot, worked his way behind him and notched his takedown at the 1:20 mark, cutting the lead to 6-2. Pearsall frantically worked for a chance to turn Shaffer, but the Panther was able to fight off every turning attempt. Pearsall picked up a point on stalling. Pearsall continued to work, locking up a cradle with just :08 left and getting pin at the 6:57 mark, with just :03 on the clock. 149: Senior All-American Frank Molinaro (Barnegat, N.J.), ranked No. 1 at 149 and wrestling in the final dual meet of his career, met No. 12 Tyler Nauman of Pitt in the dual's marquee match-up. Nauman got in on a high single early, but Molinaro was able to counter the move and force a stalemate at the 2:04 mark with the score still 0-0. Another quick low single by Nauman was kicked way by the three-time All-American and action resumed in the center circle. Nauman worked in on a third shot, and Molinaro countered, gaining control of the Panther's shoulders and keeping the bout scoreless with 1:00 left in the opening period. Molinaro got hit with a first stall warning, was quickly taken down with just :15 left, then escaped. Not to enter the second period trailing, Molinaro used a high double for a last second takedown and led 3-2 after one period. Molinaro chose down to start the middle stanza and quickly escaped to a 4-2 lead. Molinaro upped his offensive pressure, forcing Nauman towards the edge of the mat for the rest of the second period. Nauman chose down to start the third period and was immediately broken down by Molinaro. The Lion senior locked up Nauman's left leg and began working for a chance to turn the Panther. While Nauman was able to belly out, Molinaro built up over 1:00 riding time. Molinaro rode Nauman out and, with the riding time point, posted the 5-2 win. 157: Red-shirt freshman Dylan Alton (Mill Hall, Pa.), ranked No. 5 at 157, took on Pittsburgh junior Donnie Tasser. Alton wasted no time in taking Tasser down for an early 2-0 lead. Tasser worked his way to an escaped at the 2:00 mark. Alton continued to set the tempo, shooting high on Tasser's right leg. But Tasser was able to defend each Alton shot and keep the bout close two minutes in. Alton scrambled through a high single for a second takedown and a 4-1 lead. A short ride out allowed Alton to lead 4-1 heading into the second period. Alton chose down to start the second period. Alton worked for an escaped, with Tasser maintaining control for a minute before Alton escaped to a 5-1 lead. Alton fought off two Tasser shots in the last :30 and led 5-1 heading into the third period (riding time was not a factor). Alton was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty at the end of the second period and led 5-2. Tasser chose down to start the third, quickly escaped and cut the lead to 5-3. Alton fought off Tasser's pressure for the first minute. He then got called for a first stall warning at the :20 mark. The Lion freshman then held the Pitt junior off for the final seconds and posted a hard-fought 5-3 win. 165: All-American David Taylor (St. Paris, Ohio), ranked No. 1 at 165, met Panther Tyler Wilps. Taylor came out of the gates fast, setting a fast tempo from the get go and forcing Wilps backwards for :90 before connecting on a high single and a 2-0 lead. Taylor tried to connect on a cradle but Wilps was able to step out of trouble for an escaped. Taylor, however, was undaunted, sliding behind Wilps for another takedown. The Lion sophomore cut him loose, took him down again and cut him once more to lead 6-3 with :40 left in the period. Taylor continued to pressure Wilps, picking up a fourth takedown with :30 on the clock. Taylor rode Wilps out to carry that 8-3 lead into the second period. Wilps chose down to start the second period and was cut loose by Taylor. Wilps was then called for a stall and Taylor then rolled through a high double for another takedown and a 10-4 lead at the 1:26 mark. Wilps escaped again, only to be taken down once more by Taylor with 1:05 on the clock. Taylor cut Wilps to a 12-6 deficit and then rolled behind him for another takedown and a 14-6 lead with :12 left. Leading 14-6 with 2:30 in riding time, Taylor chose down to start the third period. The All-American escaped to a 15-6 lead and then worked Wilps' shoulders to the ground for another takedown and a 17-6 edge. With the riding time point clinched, Taylor cut Wilps loose once again and notched another takedown for a 19-7 lead with :50 on the clock. Needing back points to secure a five-point technical fall, Taylor was not able to turn Wilps and gave up a reversal on a last turn attempt. With 2:33 riding time, Taylor posted the 20-9 major. 174: All-American Ed Ruth (Harrisburg, Pa.), ranked No. 2 at 174, was held out as a precaution, allowing red-shirt freshman Matt Brown (West Valley City, Utah) to meet Pittsburgh senior Ethan Headlee. Brown pressured the Pitt senior, a three-time NCAA qualifier, from the start and picked up a takedown on a scramble at the 2:08 mark. Keeping control of Headlee, Brown dominated the action from the top position, building up a sizeable riding time edge before Headlee escaped to a 2-1 deficit with :44 on the clock. Leading 2-1, Brown chose down to start the second period and quickly escaped to a 3-1 lead (with 1:07 riding time). He then gained control of Headlee's ankle with 1:20 left, but the Panther was once again able to work his way out of bounds to keep the bout close. Headlee, a fifth-year senior, was called for a first stall warning with :40 left in the second stanza. Brown then used a swift move to work his way into a near pinning combination as the period ended, picking up a takedown and two near fall points at the buzzer to lead 7-1 after two. Brown chose down to start the third period and quickly reversed Headlee for a 9-1 lead. Headlee escaped with 1:02 on the clock, but Brown quickly took him down once more, moving out to an 11-2 lead with :35 on the clock. Brown then rode Headlee out to post the 12-2 major with 2:19 in riding time. 184: All-American Quentin Wright (Wingate, Pa.), ranked No. 2 at 184, took on Andy Vaughan. Wright wasted no time in taking Vaughan down, using a single leg to take a 2-0 lead at the 2:15 mark. Wright then turned Vaughan to his back for two near fall points and a 4-0 lead midway through the period. Vaughan escaped to a 4-1 deficit, but Wright used another swift trip to take the Panther down with :05 left to lead 6-1 after the opening period. Wright chose down to start the second stanza and quickly escaped to a 7-1 lead. Wright spent the second period, looking for a chance to lock up a throw. He blasted through a high double with :35 on the clock to move out to a 9-1 lead, a lead he carried into the third period. Vaughan chose top to start the third period, but Wright quickly reversed the Panther for an 11-1 lead with 1:20 on the clock. Vaughan escaped at the 1:05 mark but Wright coasted to the 12-2 major decision. 197: True freshman Morgan McIntosh (Santa Ana, Calif.), ranked No. 12 at 197, met No. 4 Matt Wilps in one of three battles of ranked grapplers. The ranked duo battled through a scoreless opening period, with neither wrestler finding an opening to score. Wilps, a junior, chose down to start the second period and quickly escaped to a 1-0 lead. McIntosh got in deep on Wilps' right ankle, forcing a scramble on the Nittany Lion logo that Wilps turned into a takedown and a 3-0 lead with 1:04 on the clock. McIntosh used a stunning roll to reverse Wilps with :20 left and, after a quick Wilps escape, trailed 4-2 after two periods. McIntosh chose down to start the third period and quickly escaped to a 4-3 deficit with riding time, at this point, not a factor. McIntosh shot low at the :50 mark and nearly connected, then skirted away from a Wilps counter. Trailing by one, McIntosh gained control of Wilps left leg and forced a scramble in the middle of the mat that nearly led to a takedown. But Wilps forced a stalemate with :09 left and then held McIntosh off to escape with a 4-3 win. 285: Senior Cameron Wade (Twinsburg, Ohio), ranked No. 6 at 285 and wrestling in the final dual meet of his Penn State career, took on Panther Joel Yahner. Wade countered a Yahner low single and worked his way to a stalemate with the match still scoreless and 2:05 on the clock. Wade took Yahner down with a high single at the 1:38 mark, taking a 2-0 lead. The Nittany Lion senior forced Yahner into a stall warning and then spent the next 1:38 looking for a turn. The ride out gave Wade a 2-0 lead after one period and Yahner chose neutral to start the second stanza. Wade quickly took Yahner down turned him to his back. After a brief bit of work, Wade got the pin at the 3:56 mark, ending his Penn State career with a pin and bringing nearly 7,000 fans to their fit.

BOSTON -- The Broncs won seven bouts to defeat Boston University in a Colonial Athletic Association dual meet Sunday afternoon, the final dual meet of the season. "It feels good to finish on a good note," said Rider head coach Gary Taylor, "and finish with a winning season." For Rider (10-9, 4-2 CAA), freshman Jimmy Morris (Northport, N.Y./St. Anthony's), who is ranked third in the CAA, upset the top ranked wrestler in the CAA who is ranked 12th in the nation. "That was most definitely his biggest win," Taylor said. "Amateur Wrestling News had that kid ranked 12th. He wrestled incredibly well for seven minutes." Sophomore James Brundage (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) won by fall to give Rider a 21-0 lead. "James did a nice job getting that pin," Taylor said. Sophomore Chuck Zeisloft (Woodbury Heights, N.J./Gateway), senior Jimmy Kirchner (Somerville), freshman Vinny Fava (Elmwood Park, N.J./Elmwood Park), sophomore Ramon Santiago (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville) and freshman Clint Morrison (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) also won for Rider. "Chuck wrestled a very good match," Taylor said of his 125 pounder, "against a kid who has had some nice wins this year. I thought Chuck wrestled very well today. Ramon beat Tourville, and Tourville beat the kid from Hofstra who beat Ramon, so that was a nice win. Ramon looked a bit more like himself today, particularly in the third period. The score was tied going into the third period and he really picked it up." Rider junior Jim Resnick (Media, Pa./Penncrest) ranked first in the CAA and 10th in the nation, was upset by the third ranked wrestler in the CAA. "Jimmy's been out for a while and he was winning the match but got caught in a cradle in the third period," Taylor said. "Jim has beaten Czamecki before." Hall, ranked first in the CAA and 13th in the nation, and Innis, ranked fourth in the CAA, won the final two matches for BU (13-7, 1-5 CAA). Results: 125 Zeisloft-R dec. Sophomore Russ Benner kicked off Appalachian's efforts at 149 pounds. In his first dual of the season, the Mountaineer carried a 3-1 lead into the third period before expanding it to an 11-2 major decision. Senior Chip Powell followed at 157 pounds, building an 8-0 lead after two periods before falling just one point short of major decision in his 12-5 victory. No. 15 Kyle Blevins failed to break open any big leads at 165 pounds but did lead by as many as six points as he captured an 8-2 win. Carter Downs returned to the Appalachian lineup at 174 pounds. The senior capitalized on a 4-0 first-period lead and was able to expand the advantage but once again the Mountaineers fell short of bonus points in Downs' 12-5 win. Senior Austin Trotman, ranked No. 11 in the nation entering the weekend, earned his first takedown around the two minute mark of the first period. Leading 5-1 entering the final stanza, Trotman rattled off three more escapes en route to a 12-4 major decision. Freshman Paul Weiss kept the Black and Gold winning streak alive, scoring a second period takedown and bringing his Blue Devil opponent to the mat with 10 seconds remaining in the match to triumph, 5-2. Having won the first six bouts of the match, Appalachian saw itself in possession of a 20-0 lead to begin the evening. Duke staved off the shutout at 285 pounds, as Robert Mello squeaked out a 3-2 decision to put the Blue Devils on the scoreboard, trailing 20-3. Junior Tony Gravely's chaotic 125-pound match saw the Mountaineer leading 6-4 with 30 seconds to go. EDINBORO, Pa. -- Behind a victory by heavyweight Brandon Williamson in the final match of the dual meet, the West Virginia University wrestling team defeated No. 10 Edinboro on Saturday evening, 18-17. “Brandon wrestled very well under the circumstances he was in,†said coach Craig Turnbull “That is a tough situation that comes with the territory at heavyweight. He handled that very well and kept control of the match.†The Mountaineers jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead, as junior Shane Young (125) pinned Kory Mines at the 4:30 mark. Young looked to work a takedown, but in the process, he was able to gain an advantageous position that allowed him to pin Mines. “Shane's extra three points were critical,†Turnbull said. “We needed to win two of three at 133, 141 and 149 pounds, and Shane's pin give us a little bit of leeway.†After redshirt sophomore Nathan Pennesi (133) lost a close decision to the Fighting Scot's A.J. Schopp, sophomore Michael Morales gave WVU another huge boost. Morales (141) defeated No. 14 Mitchell Port, 8-6, in a match that was decided by sudden victory. “You can't overstate the importance of Morales' win at 141 pounds,†Turnbull said. “Morales' win over a nationally ranked opponent was very critical to the team tonight. He did to them what they did to us against Matt Ryan - he stole a win away from them.†After Morales' victory built a 9-3 lead for the Mountaineers, Edinboro fought back with two decision victories at 149 and 157 pounds. Redshirt senior Kyle Eason (165) turned the tables back in favor of WVU, however, as he defeated Jesse Swink in a 6-0 decision. Redshirt junior Lance Bryson (174) then followed Eason's win with a decision victory of his own. Bryson found himself down 3-1 with less than 20 seconds remaining, as the Fighting Scots' Chris Hrunka earned a takedown. Bryson battled and got the escape point, then followed it up with a takedown with 12 seconds remaining to seal the victory. “We wrestled well enough that we could have made that easier on ourselves,†Turnbull said. “We should have taken control of that match and should not have been in the position to give that takedown up to them. When it came down to winning the match, though, Lance had his back to the wall and responded the way you would hope.†Following a decision victory and a tech fall at 184 pounds and 197 pounds, the Fighting Scots held a 17-15 lead heading into the heavyweight match. Williamson scored an early takedown to gain a 2-0 advantage and was able to fend off shots from opponent Ernest James. With the riding time advantage, Williamson earned a 3-0 decision win and an 18-17 win for the Mountaineers. “The team was determined that since we have been all around the spectrum this season that we needed to pull it all together,†Turnbull said. “Tonight's win should put us in that top 25 position. It was a good win for the team overall.†WVU is now 8-4 overall and 3-2 in the Eastern Wrestling League. The Mountaineers will close out their dual meet season with a match against EWL foe Cleveland State tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. Results: 125: No. 23 Shane Young (WVU) win by fall Kory Mines (EU), 4:30 133: No. 6 A.J.
