It's the final weekend of the DI regular season! Time flies when you're not cutting weight. We'll finish off the regular season by primarily focusing on duals. A total of 39 duals will be contested over the next four days. Since it can be difficult to figure out where and when to watch all of these events, InterMat has put together a list of all of the live-streamed events occurring this week. Below are the dates/times and how to watch each match (with links). To make this guide even easier to find, we've added a link on our homepage and the latest Live Streaming Guide will appear right under the header articles. Before we look at the final weekend of ACC duals coming up, let's take a quick look back at the results from last weekend and the matches that stood out. Team scores went as expected but there were some interesting individual results. #10 Virginia Tech 28 -- #18 Pittsburgh 9 125 #5 Eddie Ventresca Maj #23 Nick Babin 15-1 133 #15 Connor McGonagle Maj Tyler Chappell 141 #10 Sam Latona Dec Anthony Santaniello 10-7 149 #1 Caleb Henson Dec #23 Finn Solomon 4-1 SV 157 #22 Dylan Evans Dec #11 Rafael Hiplolito 4-1 SV 165 Jared Keslar Dec #30 Mac Church 5-1 174 #26 Lennox Wolak Fall #18 Luca Augustine 184 #22 TJ Stewart Maj Chase Kranitz 16-4 197 #10 Mac Stout Dec #12 Andy Smith 7-3 285 #13 Jimmy Mullen Maj #15 Dayton Pitzer Even though the team score was lopsided, this was a very entertaining dual. Dylan Evans opened the dual with an upset over Rafael Hipolito, who was in his first match back from an injury. The Panthers followed that with a second upset with Jared Keslar taking out Mac Church. Lennox Wolak has been gaining momentum the last few weeks and had a beautiful feet-to-back maneuver to get the pin over Luca Augustine. Mac Stout ran up his 17th straight win in an upset over Andy Smith. In the final match of the dual, we saw #1 Caleb Henson pushed to sudden victory where he got the takedown to seal the victory over a very stingy Finn Solomon. We also saw Henson warned for stalling, which I don’t think I have ever seen… The dual win gives the Hokies a shot at a share of the ACC Dual title in their dual against NC State on Friday. #16 North Carolina 26 – Virginia 10 125 #11 Spencer Moore Dec #31 Keyveon Roller 5-0 133 #12 Ethan Oakley Dec #32 Gable Porter 4-2 141 #19 Dylan Cedeno Dec #22 Jayden Scott 5-3 149 #5 Lachlan McNeil Dec Erik Roggie 5-3 157 #23 Sonny Santiago Inj Def Nick Sanko 165 #21 Nick Hamilton Dec Charlie Darracott 4-1 SV 174 Rocco Contino Maj Nick Fea 19-9 184 #21 Gavin Kane TF Griffin Gammell 22-7 197 Cade Lautt Dec Steven Burrell 10-7 285 Nolan Neves Dec Gabe Christensen 4-2 The Tar Heels have been a very interesting team to watch this dual season. They have a solid lineup and have been able to keep almost every individual match close and put themselves in position for several upsets. They kept this momentum going and their hopes for a share of the ACC dual title alive with a win over the Hoos. There were no upsets on paper, but there were some close matches that will have seeding implications and will be interesting to watch at the ACC Championships. Spencer Moore was able to assert control against a very dangerous Keyveon Roller and Ethan Oakley won another one-score match against Gable Porter. Dylan Cedeno continues to be a bright spot for the Hoos, but was tested by a very game Jayden Scott. Lachlan McNeil had his closest match in conference against Erik Roggie, who was in for an injured Jack Gioffre; this is the lone decision in conference for McNeil, his other four wins have been bonus points. It was also great to see the return of Rocco Contino for UVA who picked up a major decision in his first match back from a long injury break. The Tar Heels control their own destiny in a trip west to meet Stanford on Friday. If they win, they are guaranteed a share of the dual title. #7 NC State 27 – #17 Stanford 13 125 #3 Vince Robinson FFT 133 #7 Tyler Knox Maj #13 Kai Orine 9-1 141 Troy Hohman Dec #21 Jason Miranda 5-3 149 #10 Jaden Abas Dec #22 Koy Buesgens 5-1 157 #14 Ed Scott Maj Aden Valencia 13-3 165 #13 Hunter Garvin Dec #28 Derek Fields 174 #21 Matty Singleton Maj Lars Michaelson 11-2 184 #14 Dylan Fishback TF Cole Han-Lindemyer 15-0 197 #22 Nick Stemmett Dec #31 Christian Knop 4-0 285 #4 Isaac Trumble TF #31 Peter Ming 19-3 The Cardinal had a long East Coast road trip, with a win over Princeton on Thursday to kick off the weekend. Unfortunately, they had several starters out, so we didn’t get to see some of the matchups that we really wanted. The biggest matchup was a controlling win by RS Freshman Tyler Knox over two-time All-American Kai Orine; I’m very interested in a potential rematch there. Troy Hohman bumped up a weight and got a big upset win over Jason Miranda, who had been on a great run. Aden Valencia bumped up two weights to face Ed Scott and gave a valiant effort, but Scott earned the major decision. 197 was a tight match with Nick Stemmet getting a 4-0 decision and Isaac Trumble made a statement with a dominant tech fall over Peter Ming, who had been on a great run. The Wolfpack will control how the conference dual title shapes up next week. If they beat the Hokies they win the dual title outright, if they lose, it will be a split title. #17 Stanford 37 -- Duke 12 125 Evan Coles FFT 133 #7 Tyler Knox TF Raymond Adams 17-0 141 #21 Jason Miranda Maj Christian Colman 15-2 149 #10 Jaden Abas Fall SP O’Donnell 157 Jack Consiglio Fall Logan Ferrero 165 #13 Hunter Garvin Maj #26 Aidan Wallace 10-2 174 Gaetano Console Fall Lars Michaelson 184 Cole Han-Lindemyer Maj David Hussey 11-2 197 #22 Nick Stemmet TF Kwasi Bonsu 20-4 285 #31 Peter Ming Dec #20 Connor Barket 12-5 The Cardinal finished their road trip with a dominating win over Duke. In the two ranked matches, Stanford had statement wins. Hunter Garvin earned a major decision over Aidan Wallace and Peter Ming reversed his loss on Friday, getting a big upset win over Conner Barket who was in his first match back after a couple weeks out. Stanford will host UNC next week and Duke will be off as they have completed their conference slate.

This week saw some great under-the-radar duals from the Big 12, with a handful coming down to the last match. Northern Colorado and Iowa State both hand nailbiters and came out on top. Wyoming wrapped up one of their best dual seasons in recent history. Oklahoma didn’t have as many duals but finished with their best winning percentage since 2014. Not to be outdone, Northern Iowa has matched their most dual wins since 2014 and could match their 1988 season with 14 wins. Notable Results: Friday (2/14): Full Results Wyoming over Air Force (27-9) 141: Carter Nogle Dec. #33 Cole Brooks (6-3) After a 4-7 start to the season, true freshman Nogle is quietly 11-2 in his last thirteen matches and scored a ranked win here. With a bonus rate of 52% and 13 falls on the season, he could be a sleeper to look out for in March. Northern Colorado over Utah Valley (22-21) 141: #2 Andrew Alirez Maj. #18 Haiden Drury (12-3) While there weren’t too many notable results individually, this dual came down to the wire in an entertaining matchup. Starting at 133, Northern Colorado reeled off four consecutive wins to build a 16-0 lead. Utah Valley won three of their own before another UNCO bonus point win at 197 and a UVU win at heavyweight. Coming down to 125, Bridger Ricks put up an 18-3 tech but wasn’t able to get the fall in a wild conference matchup. Iowa State over South Dakota State (20-15) 285: #27 Daniel Herrera Dec. Luke Rasmussen (8-7) This was another dual that didn’t have any major upsets, but came down to heavyweight and an upset dual win for the Cyclones. Iowa State won four of the first five, with bonus points from the Frost brothers and Paniro Johnson. SDSU reeled off four of their own to take the lead into a big heavyweight matchup. Herrera was in a 5-0 hole after the first period, but got a takedown in the second to make it close. Then in the third Herrera scored a reversal and eventually another takedown, staying on top long enough to eliminate Rasmussen’s riding time in an electric finish. Saturday (2/15): Full Results North Dakota State over California Baptist (24-13) 157: Drayden Morton Dec. Maxwell Petersen (5-1) While not a ranked matchup, Morton has recently made the descent to 157 after spending most of the season at 165. He hasn’t had a breakout win yet, but a decision over a solid Petersen makes him one to look out for late in the year. Cornell over Arizona State (25-12) 133: Julian Chlebove Dec. #28 Tyler Ferrera (5-2) 141: Emilio Ysaguirre Dec. #30 Josh Saunders (9-2) In a tough loss, there were a handful of bright spots for the Sun Devils. Chlebove broke a five-match losing streak, all but one against top 20 opponents. Ysaguirre returned this month after being out since CKLV, but took losses to Andrew Alirez and Jacob Frost. A win over Saunders is a positive sign in the right direction and another wrestler to look out for. Sunday (2/16): Full Results Oklahoma over Arizona State (32-6) 141: #15 Mosha Schwartz Dec. Emilio Ysaguirre (5-4) 149: #17 Willie McDougald Dec. Pierson Manville (SV 4-1) 285: #5 Cohlton Schultz Dec. #25 Juan Mora (TB-1 5-2) Ysaguirre didn’t get the win but it took a late Schwartz takedown for the Sooner win. Pierson Manville is still looking for a dual win, but took two-time NCAA qualifier McDougald to OT in a solid performance. Schultz managed to get a Senior night and his 100th win in an overtime matchup, where Schultz got a late takedown to clinch it. Wyoming over Northern Colorado (26-9) 157: #20 Jared Hill Dec. #16 Vinny Zerban (TB-1 3-1) This result flipped an earlier season overtime loss at National Duals for Hill, who is now sitting at a solid 6-1 in his last seven duals. As a team, Wyoming has racked up 12 dual wins, their most since 2019 and a sharp turnaround from a 1-10 record in 2023. North Dakota State over CSU Bakersfield (27-10) Little Rock over North Dakota State (21-16) 184: #32 Aidan Brenot Fall #16 Brock DelSignore (4:15) Brenot has had a volatile season but scored another ranked win here. On the year he now has wins over TJ Stewart, Gavin Kane, and Dennis Robin. Northern Iowa over Iowa State (26-10) 141: #4 Cael Happel Dec. #11 Jacob Frost (10-7) 149: #15 Colin Realbuto Dec. #6 Paniro Johnson (SV 10-7) 157: #11 Cody Chittum Dec. #5 Ryder Downey (4-2) 174: #19 Jared Simma Dec. #17 MJ Gaitan (7-4) 197: #13 Wyatt Voelker Dec. #10 (At 184) Evan Bockman (7-2) 285: #27 Daniel Herrera Dec. #14 Lance Runyon (3-1) In the dual of the weekend, Northern Iowa beat Iowa State for the first time since 2019 in front of a raucous crowd. The 7,348 fans broke the All-time McLeod Center record for any sport, an impressive feat after already breaking the wrestling attendance record earlier this season. The dual featured ranked matchups in seven of ten matches, with both teams getting some upsets. Happel beat Frost in a back-and-forth match with a late takedown sealing it. Colin Realbuto and Paniro Johnson had an absolute must-watch match. Johnson scored two takedowns and had a 7-3 lead at one point. With constant pressure in the third period, Realbuto forced three stalls plus one in the second to tie it 7-7. With a much fresher looking Realbuto, he kept the pressure on in overtime and got the takedown with the record crowd. Chittum and Downey had a Big 12 finals rematch in another back-and-forth entertaining match. Chittum scored the match-winning takedown in the third period, but both wrestlers were active throughout. Jared Simma upset MJ Gaitan, flipping last year’s result that saw Gaitan major him 10-2. Evan Bockman surprisingly bumped up but wasn’t able to upset Voelker. Then, at heavyweight, the Cyclones got one more, with Herrera continuing to impress as a true freshman and get another ranked upset. Upcoming Competitions: Air Force: AT Northern Colorado (Feb. 23) Arizona State: AT Lehigh (Feb. 21), AT West Virginia (Feb. 23) California Baptist: AT CSU Bakersfield (Feb. 21) Iowa State: AT Missouri (Feb. 22) Missouri: Iowa State (Feb. 22) Northern Colorado: Air Force (Feb. 23) North Dakota State: South Dakota State (Feb. 23) Northern Iowa: AT Wisconsin (Feb. 23) Oklahoma: Big 12’s (Mar. 8th) Oklahoma State: AT Iowa (Feb. 23) South Dakota State: AT North Dakota State (Feb. 23) Utah Valley: Big 12’s (Mar. 8th) West Virginia: Arizona State (Feb. 23) Wyoming: Big 12’s (Mar. 8th)

You had to know that the final few weeks of the collegiate season were going to be eventful! There were just too many good matchups for the status quo to run into March. On the second to last Friday of the regular season, we saw another #1 fall from the ranks of the unbeaten. For the second straight year, Beau Bartlett knocked off Jesse Mendez in a dual meet. The two would meet in the Big Ten and NCAA finals. Time will tell if that’s the case again. With Mendez’s loss, we had to make some changes at the top of 141 lbs. Bartlett remains unbeaten and rose from number three to number one. Mendez has a win over Bartlett in the All-Star Classic and has the Vegas title, wins over four others in the top ten and three others in the top 15. Not that we really use it as a metric in these rankings, but Mendez had the best RPI in this weight and it’s easy to see why. He gets the number two and Andrew Alirez slides down to three. Though he’s unbeaten, Alirez’s only matches against top 16 opponents are #9 CJ Composto and #16 Josh Edmond. A similar adjustment was made at 197 lbs. Josh Barr and Jacob Cardenas were moved up into the #2 and #3 slot, respectively. AJ Ferrari moved down to #4 despite being unbeaten. Since he didn’t compete last weekend, Ferrari missed out on a match against #7 Stephen Little. He’ll go into the postseason without having faced anyone ranked higher than #15 Nick Stemmet. Barr has three top-ten wins with Cardenas, Little, and Michael Beard. Cardenas has a top-ten win (Isaiah Salazar) and a handful of wins over 13-20 range. We’ve also received the news that Ohio State will be moving forward with redshirt freshman Brandon Cannon at 157 lbs in the postseason. Cannon has been very impressive while primarily competing in open tournaments (18-2 record). He majored Penn State freshman Joe Sealey in Friday’s dual and has a win over Iowa State’s Cody Chittum. The move to Cannon is a bittersweet one for wrestling fans, in general, as it signals the end of the career of two-time NCAA finalist Sammy Sasso. Last summer, Sasso was shot during a carjacking attempt, underwent multiple surgeries, and spent almost a month and a half in the hospital. Sasso returned to the mat and scored a 12-6 win over Chattanooga’s Jackson Hurst in his season debut. He started the year at 165 lbs, but dropped down to 157 lbs - amassing a 12-7 record along the way. While it may not be the ending Sasso imagined, just getting back on the mat and defeating quality DI wrestlers is a remarkable accomplishment in and of itself. It was a bit of a light week as far as action goes, with most NCAA teams preparing for regionals next weekend and many NAIA teams doing the same for their conference tournaments coming the following weekend. However, there were still a few notable highlights to wrap up the regular season. Baker hosts Inaugural Jimmy May Open Previously known as the Baker Open, the Wildcats hosted the first-ever Jimmy May Open tournament to close out their regular season. Jimmy May is a long-time coach and was integral in the formation of the men’s program at Baker, which started in 2009. May still serves as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s teams at Baker. Baker closed things out with 7 placers, including two runner-up finishes from Kylee Slyter at 110 lbs and Jaclyn Daley at 207 lbs. Missouri Valley also attended and had four placers, including a championship finish from late-season transfer Xochitl Mota-Pettis at 131 lbs. Mota-Pettis finished first after four technical falls in a row, which put her in the finals. There, she got her first pin on the day against #6 Devin Patton of William Penn. Speaking of the Statesmen, they also had an excellent day, with 8 wrestlers in the finals, including 3 different teammate matchups in the finals at 103, 124, and 138 lbs where the teammates chose to both forfeit. #1 Christianah Ogunsanya was the lone outright champ for the team, winning 5-straight 10-0 tech falls during the tournament including in the finals against #2 Camille Fournier of Texas Wesleyan. Lily Zapata, Olivia Atkins, Joanna Vanderwood, Catherine Steinkamp, Esther Kolawole, and Kendall Bostelman were the other wrestlers who made it to the finals for this team. Indiana Tech finds a way in Kentucky The #7 Indiana Tech Warriors finished out their regular season with a road trip to take on #5 Cumberlands and #9 Campbellsville over the weekend. While forfeits from both teams helped get the Warriors the points they needed to pull off both wins, there were still several impressive wins across the three teams. Against Cumberlands, there was a top 10 matchup at 103 lbs, with #10 Angelina Castenda (UC) earning the close 4-3 upset victory over #8 Makayla Young (IT). When Tech headed to Campbellsville, #13 Andrea Hernandez for the Warriors got the upset win over #11 Olivia Messerly by fall in just 51 seconds despite being down points early. While not an upset, #8 Liliana Vergara of Campbellsville got a big pin against #15 Grace Doering for Tech, giving her team the lead heading into the finals. That final match of the night pitted #4 Riley Dempewolf of Indiana Tech against #9 Brianna Staebler of Campbellsville. And while things were close with neither wrestler getting points on the board in the first, Dempewolf started to separate in the second, stringing together 6 points to Staebler’s one to put it away for the Warriors. Regionals are just around the corner NCAA Regionals take place on February 22 & 23 across 8 locations, after expanding this off-season from 6 sites to accommodate the growing number of programs. Region I – Murray Athletic Center (Center Dome), Elmira College, Elmira, NY, Sunday, February 23 Region II – Koehler Fieldhouse, East Stroudsburg University, East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Sunday, February 23 Region III – Shaw Athletic Center, Emmanuel University, Franklin Springs, Georgia, Saturday, February 22 Region IV – Heminger Center, Tiffin University, Tiffin, Ohio, Saturday, February 22 Region V – Merillat Sport and Fitness Center, Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan, Saturday, February 22 Region VI – Hyland Arena, Lindenwood University, St. Charles, Missouri, Sunday, February 23 Region VII – Cowles Fieldhouse, Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa, Saturday, February 22 Region VIII – Kitty Magee Arena, Texas Woman’s University, Denton, Texas, Saturday, February 22 As a reminder, teams can send up to 15 wrestlers to regionals, with a maximum of 2 per each weight class. At regionals, the top 4 finishers at each weight will qualify for Nationals. This means that compared to the 240 qualifiers last year, this Nationals will feature 320 athletes. You can find out which teams will be in each region here.

This weekend, we had a major girls high school state tournament along with many others. Texas, with has long been a power in girls high school wrestling, held their season-ending championship event. Plenty of future collegiate stars were on the mat. Other state tournaments that featured plenty of college recruits were Colorado, Georgia, and Montana. In year's past, we've tracked how the boys collegiate recruits fared at their respective state tournaments and will do it again this season. In conjunction, it would be nice to do the same thing for the girls who will be wrestling at the next level. Girls high school recruiting doesn't get the type of fanfare that it does on the boys side, so we'd like to change that. Below, wrestlers are sorted by their choice of college. They are listed with their high school and the weight class that they wrestled at the state tournament - along with their results. This is only for girls that qualified for, and wrestled at, their state tournament. There are more recruits we have listed on our commitment page who did not qualify for their respective state tournaments. We will update this article each week as more results become official. 2025 HS State Tournament Results for Wrestling Recruits (2/17/25)
InterMat Staff posted an article in Recruiting
This weekend, high school state tournament season really went into full swing. States like Georgia, Colorado, and Texas held their much-anticipated season-ending tournaments - along with plenty of others. As these tournaments conclude, it begs the question, "how did my favorite team's recruits fare?" In some smaller states, it's almost a given that your college-bound studs are collecting another state title, while in the power states, with the deepest talent pools, such achievements are not guaranteed. Either way, we've combed through results from all of the state tournaments that have taken place thus far to find out how everyone's recruits have finished. We will update this article each week as more results become official. If you do not see a recruit that should be added, please fill out our commitment form or email me at earl@matscouts.com . On Sunday afternoon, one of the biggest rivalries in college athletics will make its way to the wrestling mat. No, we’re not talking about Iowa and Penn State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, or any other rivalries that might initially come to mind for wrestling fans. It’s something bigger than that. It’s Army/Navy - which is dubbed the “Star Match.” Whenever these two service academies meet, in any sport, it’s a big deal. Army head coach Kevin Ward once told me that when his squad wins, “his email will be full of congratulatory messages from high-ranking officers who may not even be wrestling fans.” Army’s West Point campus has a tunnel where every win over Navy, in every sport, is listed on the wall. What makes this rivalry unique and special is that, somewhere down the line, these two service branches might need to rely on each other and fight together against a common enemy. Each branch is filled with selfless individuals sworn to defend our country. Just to receive admission to either institution, you have to have excellent high school grades and demonstrate leadership skills - in addition to anything on the athletic field. All that being said, both branches are filled with men and women who are leaders and highly competitive in all facets of life. One of which is sports. Despite any similarities between the athletes and their service to our country, they hate losing to the other academies. When these two academies meet on the wrestling mats, you can “throw the records out.” It doesn’t really matter who might have the better team in each year. The “Star Match” takes place every year and rotates between the two schools. Army will host the festivities on Sunday. Even though Army won, 18-17, last season, the Naval Academy leads the all-time series 52-11-5. The wrestling version of this rivalry has taken off since Kevin Ward arrived at West Point in 2014. His first win over Navy snapped a 17-year winless streak for the Black Knights and he had guided Army to four-straight wins (2017-20) - a feat that hadn’t been accomplished previously by an Army coach. Not coincidentally, after the 2020 season, Navy made a coaching change and brought in the legendary Cary Kolat. Immediately, Kolat proceeded to reel off three straight wins over Army. That brought us to 2024 which saw Army regain control with a one-point win. Will Ward’s team start another streak or will Navy return the favor on their rival’s home mat? Last year’s results: 157: Nate Lukez (Army) maj Jonathan Ley (Navy) 11-1 (4-0 Army) 165: Gunner Filipowicz (Army) dec Andrew Cerniglia (Navy) 5-4 (7-0 Army) 174: Ben Pasiuk (Army) dec Danny Wask (Navy) 7-3 (10-0 Army) 184: David Key (Navy) dec Dillon Sheehy (Army) 4-1 (10-3 Army) 197: Cael Crebs (Navy) dec Wolfgang Frable (Army) 7-1 (10-6 Army) 285: Grady Griess (Navy) 7-2 Lucas Stoddard (Army) 7-2 (10-9 Army) 125: Ethan Berginc (Army) tech Dayton DelViscio (Navy) 18-3 (15-9 Army) 133: Braden Basile (Army) dec Brendan Ferretti (Navy) 5-4 (18-9 Army) 141: Josh Koderhandt (Navy) maj Logan Brown (Army) 13-3 (18-13 Army) 149: Kaemen Smith (Navy) maj Matthew Williams (Army) 17-8 (18-17 Army) Key matches this year: 141 (favor Navy) Richard Treanor #32 in rankings vs Josh Koderhandt #7 Only ranked matchup of the night (no previous meetings) Koderhant 4-0 all time vs Army opponents, 3-0 in this dual 157 (toss up) – Dakota Morris (Army) vs Jonathan Ley (Navy) Ley is 5th in EIWA rankings, Morris is 6th (no previous meetings) 165 (slight lean Army) – Gunner Filipowicz (Army) vs Dylan Elmore (Navy) Filipowicz #17 in rankings Elmore just beat Mulvaney, Mulvaney just beat Filipowicz – all within last two weeks 184 (toss up) Jake Gilfoil (Army) vs Daniel Williams (Navy) Williams #2 in EIWA, Gilfoil UR Gilfoil is a FR, Williams is a SO – both competing in their first Star Match 197 – Wolfgang Frable (Army) vs Peyton Thomas (Navy) #28 vs #33 in the national rankings Frable is #5 in the EIWA, Thomas is #3

Sarah Hildebrandt of Colorado Springs, Colo. was named as Assistant National Women’s Coach by USA Wrestling, the national governing body for wrestling in the United States. Hildebrandt, a 2024 Olympic gold medalist in women’s freestyle wrestling, joins USA Wrestling’s National Teams Department, working on the National Women’s Coaching staff, led by National Women’s Coach Terry Steiner and alongside National Women’s Developmental Coach Jessica Medina Bunker. She will be based in Colorado Springs, Colo., where the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center and USA Wrestling national headquarters are based. She will help train athletes on the U.S. Senior National Team, as well as the resident athletes at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center. In her role, she will coach U.S. teams in international competition, as well. “I have had a really long career and I’ve gotten the experience of what wrestling has taught me. It has made me so passionate about what this sport can do for people. If I can bring a passion and energy in support of their journey, kind of a door handle to open up their own adventure, that is exciting to me. Wrestling has given me so much. The sport has taught me everything about myself and helped me grow as a woman,” said Sarah Hildebrandt. “It is not just what she has done; it is how she has done it. She has been through everything. She was a kid who couldn’t make the National Team and struggled. She made the World Team and struggled. She got hurt. It was then that she realized things, took a pause and changed. Because of her experiences, there is not a person on our National Team and around our program that doesn’t respect her. The respect is not just about her accomplishment in Paris; it is how she re-invented herself to become a great champion and a great human being. She will become a great coach,” said National Women’s Coach Terry Steiner. “We have talked about creating a value-add for our program. I don’t think there is anything else we could do to have such a great value-add. She is authentic. She took the time to put all of the pieces together, and re-committed herself, year after year. She is the right person,” said Steiner. In addition to her Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Games, Hildebrandt claimed a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She boasts four Senior World medals, a silver medal in 2018 and bronze medals in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Overall, Hildbrandt competed in six Senior World Championships for Team USA. Hildebrandt made her first Senior National Team in 2014, and was a leader in the program. She was also a talented age-group athlete, making three U.S. World Teams, competing in the 2013 World University Games and the U20 World Championships in 2012 and 2013. Hildebrandt was dominant in Senior continental competition, winning a gold medal at the 2019 Pan American Games, while also claiming seven gold medals at the Pan American Championships (2013, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023). Throughout her international career, Hildebrant became well known for her successful technical skills, including an ability to score exposure points when she was on top in the par terre position. A star in college at King University, Hildebrandt was a two-time WCWA national champion and four-time WCWA national finalist. A native of Granger, Ind., Hildebrandt competed at Penn High School as part of the boys wrestling team. She was a successful freestyle wrestler in high school, winning the 2011 Junior Nationals and placing second in the 2010 Junior Nationals. After her college career, Hildebrandt became a U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center resident athlete in Colorado Springs, where she lived and trained full-time. She has been a RUDIS sponsored athlete since 2018. Hildebrandt has been a frequent clinician around the nation, working with both youth and Senior-level athletes, including at the University of Michigan and Fresno State University, as well as numerous USA Wrestling clubs around the nation. She has also make frequent speaking engagements and athlete appearances, sharing her story and helping promote wrestling for girls and women. Hildebrandt received a bachelor’s degree in business marketing from King University in 2015, with a minor in leadership. While at King, she was the President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and a team caption for the women’s wrestling team. She was named 2018 USA Wrestling Women’s Wrestler of the Year. In 2024, she received a Wrestle Like A Girl Afsoon Courage award. Her 2014 national champion King University women’s wrestling team has been inducted into the King University Hall of Fame. Hildebrandt is excited to work with the U.S. women freestyle athletes in their pursuit of success at the World and Olympic level, with a goal of making the United States the No. 1 power in the world. “We have an endless amount of potential,” said Hildebrandt. “Everyone can see the writing on the wall. We are coming. Once we get there, we are not moving. There are areas we can talk about, technical things, that we will always continue. For us, it will take some courage to step into some unknown places, to go beyond being second and third, and to become the gold.”
