  1. I'm not even against prostitution-- I think it should be legalized. And I fully understand couples have all different sorts of arrangements, ranging from solid monogamy to wild swinging. And I'm cool with that. But this is bizzare: You say, "but if he was a good husband..." What the heck? This guy does prostitutes, bareback (!!!!) and given the circumstances (the messages he sent and the manner in which it was set up), this was definitely not his first time. He's so clearly is NOT a good husband I can't believe your level of naivety to put that out. What woman on earth would say, "Oh he's a good husband, sure, he bangs whores without protection when he's away. But he says Jesus wants him to wrestle and win"
  2. No, we don't all try to go bareback with a prostitute on mother's day while the wife and kids are back at home, and get busted with our units flappin' in a dank hotel, all the while pretending to live a Christ-like existence. No. That's Kyle's thing.
  3. It means Snyder can't wrestle or train till he's off that list.
  4. Aha! Thanks. Yeah, he shouldn't have been canceled for that. It's not something great to say IMO given that we're trying to grow women's wrestling. But he absolutely has the right to say that, and that right should have been respected. And yes, Snyder's situation is far far worse!
  5. So what exactly did Downey do (I know he was a good wrestler...I'm talking about the stuff he's saying)?
  6. Yeah, a lot of us get annoyed when these guys twist the Bible into this whole 'God wants me to win and be successful!' thing. It's like their go-to message is 'I'm awesome because God made me that way!' Then, dude gets caught with his unit flappin' in the dank hotel room on camera tryin' to forkout that God-success money for some wild kink -- BAM! They whip out some Bible verses to try to shut you down. It makes you wonder, where are these folks when it comes to actually helping the people Jesus talked about – the poor, the humble, the homeless?
  7. I don't really know how it works -- you know this better than I do. I'm saying that for most of the country it's not a big deal, and we shouldn't hold wrestlers to higher standards than other athletes. The sport isn't big enough. For a good percentage of the the country's population this is a decriminalized act. Sure, places in the south and parts of Midwest this is a major crime (check out Louisiana!!!), but not most places. I'd hate to see his career end for this, as he's at the age where he's past prime and can't afford to take off. I'd like to see him back on the mat soon. The worst part for me was the conflict between this devout man and his real actions. But as far as I'm concerned, this is between him and his wife.
  8. It's his job. The other 15 Johns busted are probably back at work, so maybe Kyle will he too
  9. In the state I'm from this sort of thing isn't even a crime. He just picked the wrong state for his extracurricular activities. I personally think it should be legal, but that's for another forum.
  10. Fill me in on Snyder's preachy thing...I wasn't aware of this as I tend to just watch matches and occasionally interviews right after. Is he always doing this?
  11. Yeah, that's a tough one.
  12. I agree with the first part -- that he needs to step away and work it out with family. But why call him a piece of crap? The state I live in this isn't even an issue, and I believe it should be decriminalized everywhere. I've heard some saying he's often preaching morals to people, so he's called a hypocrite. I can't speak to this because I'm not in the know here. I do see how this is no doubt devastating to his wife and kids, and I feel for them.
  13. Yeah, I wonder the same things. My guess is that cops posted an ad on a site known for this, so their ads were mixed in with real ones. Kyle called at around 8.15pm and arrived at the hotel shortly thereafter, which sorta indicates he knew the routine -- so likely not his first time.
  14. Someone on reddit posted that this might be a tier 2 sexual offense, meaning he'd have to register for 25 years as a sex offender. Any legal folks from Ohio know about this?
  15. It's in this sub reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/wrestling/s/VNOnEOYNyR
  16. I saw it on Reddit too (look in the wrestling subreddit). I think it was just some rando.
  17. Hahahahaha... It's hard to believe any coach would take that risk.
  18. I can see that! How do you think it'll go down?
  19. So I'm a bit out of the loop...been so busy the past few months. Is AJ a likely champ this year? No? He's ranked #4; is this accurate?
  20. Keep your team healthy for the NCAA tournament, the only thing that matters for a coach's pay and an athlete's record. The other season tourneys are worthless. It's only about NCAA.
  21. The average age of an Olympic medalist in freestyle is 26. Biologically speaking, physical prime begins to decline at 27. Wrestlers may try to continue to complete longer for certain monetary reasons, but that doesn't change the age of natural biological decline. USA wrestlers are starting to wrestle freestyle full-time WAY too late. Getting started full-time at 24 (like many in the usa do), is always going to yield inconsistent results in the long term. For that reason, I think men's college wrestling should open up to freestyle. Keep folkstyle for those schools which have the fans, have a chance of getting a wrestler on the podium regularly, and have a historical vested interest in it. The other colleges, basically the majority of the 76 div 1 schools, should transition to freestyle.
  22. USA spends 95% of wrestling energy, time and resources on folkstyle, so it's hard to maintain quality in freestyle. Most men don't get to work full time on freestyle till after college (if they aren't too banged up), which means that they are 23 - 24 years old. That's too old to have any consistent success. Physical prime starts to wane at 27. So, regrettably in my opinion, our wrestlers spend most if their prime years on folkstyle. I know a lot of people like folkstyle, but I really think we should introduce freestyle to college, too (and high school). There's really only a small number of schools competive in div 1, and one school dominates everything. Let them compete in folkstyle. They have the fans, they like it. Go for it. But introduce freestyle for the others. It just makes sense. Most div 1 school have very little chance of even getting an All-Amercian. They should switch. And maybe div 2 and div 3.
