I was a 112lber my senior year of high school and I was undersized as a 125lber in college and have wished they had 118lbs when I went through

My .02 for what it is worth, for this situation it doesn't matter what anyone thinks of the rule, if you don't like it fight the rule, but as long as it is the rule, you have to follow it, if people got to decide and only follow rules they liked then there are no rules. And I don't care if he missed the meeting, he knew the rule, every athletics department in the country hammers the gambling point, I sat through multiple compliance presentations in college and the fact that the NCAA considers gambling a cardinal sin was hammered into our brains for over an hour every year. The only relevance to him missing the meeting is that it is supposed to be a mandatory meeting and someone will have to answer for that. And no that does not mean LOIC type of for the people pushing that angle.

I dont understand the thought that Coach Koll was the wrong choice for UNC, you look at that placement chart from earlier in the thread, he had Cornell of all places as a top 3 program in the country, UNC finished 12th at NCAAs this year and you think the coach that made Cornell a top 3 program cant do any better than maintain?

I will say from the UNC perspective, I am glad we went with Coach Koll instead

Love seeing him on the recruiting trail, looking forward to seeing the level of talent he can bring in

It is an eyeballs thing, people forget Miami is a small private school, they have an aging bandwagon fan base from their glory years, but does not have an alumni base near the size of FSU

Again, with my bias established, I don't think it will take it near as long since he is a known name. He isnt trying to convince people he will be able to be sussessful he has proven it

So what is the thought process on what Koll can do at UNC, I look at what he did at Cornell and think he could have UNC looking at at top 5 finishes in a few years, but I am a UNC guy so I was just wondering what nuetral observers think about it

With my appologies to Stanford, I would love to see several of them switch directions and head to Chapel Hill

As a UNC guy this is a home run hire and i an excited to see what he can do

Awesome, this is a home run hire for UNC, coach Koll is one of the best coaches in the country and excellent at building up a program

I agree, he is a program builder, I liked Coach Scott, but this is an upgrade for us and I have high expectations of what he can do

Anyone know when this announcement is going to get made? And any suspects for stanford guys following Koll to UNC?

The answer to that is invest in youth and middle school programs, too many wrestlers in NC get started in high school, it is a top 10 population state and absolutely could be producing a higher level of wrestler with the right investments imho

There is a hard cap of 18% out of state so the lowest in state number could ever be is 82%, and yes the community and alumi base have proven very willing to support winning programs (the overall level of athletic success across programs is very high for a reason) the potential is certainly there, though I would love to see investments made in helping increase the level of high school wrestling in NC as well

I was there when he first got there and that wasn't the case, but I was also gone before the new locker room was finished, that could have happened when the facilities upgrades happened after my time, just wasn't the case during my time

I was at UNC for part of Kolat's time coaching there and there was not a large photo of TJ in the room, the hall leading to the room had old team photos including the years TJ was there, but the room itself was fairly undecorated, might have changed after my time, and that does make for a funny story, but at least when I was there it wasnt true

Lurked for a while but this is my first post here, as a Tar Heel this would be a home run hire for us, would be interesting to see of he would bring one of his more recent former wrestlers along for the staff, maybe someone like Dake might be thinking of going into coaching after this olympic cycle
