  1. What was low IQ about it? He just got beat.
  2. Wow. Such a tough loss.
  3. I'll take the 18 year old improving at an incredible rate to beat the guy he already beat twice.
  4. I like that they tried one nostril and got no blood so they switched to the other one.
  5. Classic.
  6. What's the history with Snyder and Azarpira?
  7. This ref is doing everything he can to screw Snyder. Luckily it takes 2 of 3.
  8. Yep. Obviously the circumstances are the same for the past top recruits and the ones right now.
  9. Where do you come up with this stuff? He took him down twice, escaped instantly, and rode him for like 2.5 minutes. You can declare it's not impressive because Kerk was hurt, but 'skirting by' is a fairy tale you're telling for some reason.
  10. Great match from Jax. He is so dangerous everywhere while also being really good defensively. Such a tough combo.
  11. This is hilarious. "Skirted by Kerk". Classic.
  12. Are there new mat assignments yet?
  13. He looked super sloppy the whole match. He repeatedly went for scores when he should have been defending and scoring a go behind. He honestly looked exhausted in the first minute. That's a hugely disappointing match.
  14. 1931-1933. 3 different champs in 3 years. Some great battles between Iowa Agricultural College, Oklahoma A&M, and Indiana. We need to get back to those days. All we need is a salary cap and we'll be there.
  15. We need to get back to those old days when there was tons of parity and no dynasties.
  16. Almost half is significant for sure. That means they have about 3 real guys per weight without college guys. That's a couple of shows and then they're out of guys. So they definitely need the college guys or a lot more international guys.
  17. Delicious stuff. When I go visit my wife's family I always eat there.
  18. I'm sincerely curious if this is true. I would not have thought so, but it's said so confidently that it makes me think a shift could have occurred without me knowing it. Not college - Lee, Woods, Carr, Zahid, Hidlay, Snyder, Wyatt College - Haines, Duke HS - Jax Does it look different if you go top 3? Top 5? Are most of those guys still in college?
  19. Yep. There was a pretty clear plan initially to bring him back to OU when he could start, but instead he fell in love with Mizzou and never left.
  20. I feel exactly the same. I've never rooted for him in a match, but it's silly how he gets treated. Up above in this thread he gets bashed for being too loud and then bashed for being too quiet after that. Here he is getting knocked for being too Christian and not Christian enough. If people want to find things to attack a HS kid for, they're always going to find those things. I wish more of the kids I coached were obnoxious and super hard working. I'd have a pretty easy job if the biggest issue I dealt with as a coach was a kid knew where the camera was.
  21. The randomness of results makes it more likely an individual guy wins at some point. It's more likely to be one of the 9 winners in a decade than to be one of the 2-3 winners in a decade.
  22. I agree that if you change the rules and retroactively score the match under rules neither guy was aware of, the outcome would be different.
  23. I'm not in favor of its removal. I doubt it's removal gives more weight classes to men's and women's FS. I think removing Greco is just a sad day for wrestling. I was just pointing out that a great sport can be ruined by a lack of rules innovation, and at a high level greco has been ruined.
  24. But without looking at who did or didn't win medals for us, there is zero context and zero relevance. Our next 65 KG guys are very different than the last ones and will compete in different 65 KG weight classes against different opponents. You mention we have 1 gold in that stretch. It's Bill Zaddick who is not close to the best American in this weight, but had a good draw and a good day. That's because he wasn't competing against the most consistently tough weight class in the world. He was competing against the 2006 66KG field. It didn't matter how good that weight usually was, it mattered who was there that day. Blaze and Forest won't compete against the guys of the past 25 years. They will compete mostly against the guys they've been competing against and the u20/u17 guys who preceded and followed them.
  25. Greco is fun to do. At lower and middle levels it's fun to watch. At high levels it's 100% unwatchable. Nobody can score. It's a series of weird and mostly arbitrary ref calls deciding most matches. If football never invented the forward pass and they played running game only with modern athletes and every game was 0-0, the sport would be gone. Instead they figured out rules that allowed scoring. Greco cannot do that. They've tried and tried and tried. The sport cannot survive because nobody can ever score.
