Seidel just teched his way through the F&M open which probably does not sound like a big deal, but he teched Max Gallagher in the semis in the first period. He then went on to tech Isiah Cortez in the finals who was 20-4 on the year and went into OT with Ben Davino. Seidel is now 11-0 on the year and his longest match has been 5 minutes and 26 seconds.

Seidel has only lost to Jax and DeLuca since his freshman year, and each of those Jax matches was at least exciting.  He is about as talented as they come.  I'd much rather send him now in the same way we did with Henson.  Let him go for it and see what his current floor really is.  The results as of right now say he's in the upper echelon of a very talented and crowded field at 133.

Add in Eddie and Campbell already putting him through the grind in practice, and this guy is ready to roll.

Wonder who wins in the room between him and Campbell? Campbell is good too but man Seidel is torching everyone so far.

Seidel is a bonus point machine. Can Campbell bump up to challenge 141? Crook is solid, looks like a blood round type guy though

It's funny, but in hindsight, if we could've had Seidel at 133 and given DC time to be more comfortable at 141, maybe we could've given Crook a chance to boost to 149.  Crook is good, but Seidel and DC are at least a level above him.  I'm not a big fan of trying for the perfect year next year and preserving 4 total years.  I loved that we sent Henson right away and his Freshman NCAA run proved he was good enough and showed off the small holes to fix.  I'd rather keep that up and send the best guy out there.

It sounds like 133 is probably not Seidels long term weight so I think you send him this year and worst case scenario you redshirt him next year if he cannot make it again. You're still going to be able to do whatever you want with he and bo together because they will both be eligible for Olympic shirts if they want as well more than likely. I am extremely interested to see what they can do for 184 and 125 in terms of recruiting and transfers because those are the only two weights they do not have a real point scorer after next year.

Pyles mentioned on FRL that early on the sentiment from people around the team was that Seidel was clearly the guy.

If there’s a clear separation between Seidel and Campbell, he has to start soon.  It’d be good if he could scrap with someone in the top 5-10 range before that decision was made though. Based off the limited times I’ve saw him, he’d at least hold his own and would get the W in most cases. A 100% bonus rate as a true freshman is insane
