OW's for me

Zinkin: could be bias but I really need to see that Sidun rematch and see what adjustments he can make. He is clearly very separated from everyone else at his weight.

Justus heeg: I was at one point down on Jayden James because he had a close match with Heeg at cadet trials and Heeg did not place at ironman last year. Turns out the kid is just a monster. True age Sophmore winning 157 which is probably more like 165 given the weigh in rules is super impressive.

Agree for both! I'm def bias with Zinkin, and I thought he was going to take WNO, which didn't happen and has been bothering me for a week now. He'll figure it out. The progress he's made between his sophomore year and now is crazy.

Heeg is a monster! Enough said!

Here's some others I thought showed out pretty well this weekend:

  • 106: Mike Barnabe (Freshman- 3rd) and Luke Loran (Freshman - 4th). Both have bright futures.
  • 113: Jorge (not Jorje) Rios - already discussed in thread
  • 120: Jovanni Tovar (Sophomore - 4th) - Kid's got good skills- he's improving.
  • 132: Dale Corbin (Junior - 3rd) - He's always fun to watch and I'm sure he'll break through
  • 132: Isreal Borge (Junior - 2nd) - Dropped weights and looks super tough (and big!)
  • 150: Charlie Desena (Senior - 2nd) - Had himself a run! I was impressed with his showing.
  • 175: Mario Carini (Junior - 3rd) - Normally I think of him as a 5-8 place guy but wrestled pretty tough.

Anyone I missed who deserves a mention?

Some guys that stood out to me:

Cody Clarke:

Placed 5th, beat Lotier and Wenrich and lost 1 point matches to Noble and Kenny

Jimmy Mastny/Judah Heeg:

good at wrestling

Gavin Mangano:

placed 3rd beating Youngblut, Dean Anderson, Braylon Reynolds, and lost to Sam Herring 4-2

side note: Alex Rozas may have the best top bottom game of anyone

Brandt Harer deserves a shout. I think we all knew how good he was but not giving up a single point from the round of 16 on is pretty insane.

Nadav Nafshi has made crazy jumps kid got pinned 3 times in the state tournament 2 years ago has like 50 career high school losses and just took 4th at super 32.

Kooper deputy was able to wrestle 6 minutes with Ariah mills competitively which is something I did not really expect to see for Mills until he got a bit bigger.

That Bo Bassett trophy is ugly as hell

Don't let Mineo see that you wrote that!

Someone on the facebook forum said he's sick of all the Bassett stories and Mineo said he was banning him and the other 180 people who liked the comment.  He then said he was only kidding about the other 180, but ws definitely banning the thread starter.

Nafshi's jumps year over year have been insane. He went from Harriton HS with a weak schedule and being a surprise state placer to Germantown, where he made NP Finals, and now he is at LHP and took 4th at S32. I was excited for him at Pitt (another decommit), as if these jumps continue, I could see him being a legit D1 starter.

Nafshi wrestled 3 seasons for Harriton, 1 for Germantown Academy. now hes at Lake Highland. How was he eligible for Super 32? they dont allow post grads. He also should only be allowed to wrestle at National Preps and Opens this season for them.

He reclassified and has not graduated, but I don't know exactly how that works with S32 requirements and HS rules

Cant compete in HS events during HS seasons. maybe Super 32 is OK with that. I have no issue with it if they are fine with it, was just wondering. thought it stood out, I remembered him reclassifying last year.

I know its forbidden in Fargo.  No 5th year high schoolers!

Just checked s32.  It says no PGS, but nothing about 5th year high schoolers.
