Unfortunately for Penn State, being in the BIG means they are forced to wrestle patsies like Iowa and Nebraska, teams that can only win a couple of matches at most.

It wasn't the schedule.  He wasn't even the most dominate wrestler on his own team, but the strength of competition at 184 put him above MM who was more dominate.

Carter is the reason Carter didn't win the Hodge.  He wanted to control matches and not take much risk so he could win matches.   Thanks to the 3 point TD, he was able to increase his bonus rate but he wasn't out trying to dominate or tech his opponents.

If Carter went for techs and domination, he would of won the Hodge.

This is a good point, I know Pyles as an example would constantly talk about how he beat Keckeisen “twice.”   I don’t recall if he also used the “higher bonus %” argument though?

But, to be fair, looks like giving Starocci 1 more decision victory actually makes his bonus rate exactly equal to Wyatt’s, not lower (and I don’t believe you claimed it did).  I know @Husker_Du did call out (using one of his voices) that it was silly for people to say “but Carter had a higher bonus rate!” because it was only the difference of 1 match.

Pyles definitely did.  He said in his little speech that Carter had the higher bonus % and that he beat the returning national champion twice.  JD Rader in his final Hodge ranking where he put Carter #1, has Carter listed at 27-0 (this includes the All Star match) and inexplicably lists his bonus % as 85 and Wyatt's as 80.

The guys whose job it is to cover the sport and be unbiased cannot get basic facts right while using their influence to make a pitch for their preferred guy.
