That korea match was ridiculous lol. Korean dude definitely regrets standing up for no reason in the 1st period and giving javan 1 point on the step out. Why did he do that?

As for ghasempour, does he go right back up to 92?

I think ghassempour goes to 92 for a couple of years to get more world gold, and try 86 for the Olympics

meanwhile we give Rahmati a shot at 86

Yes, I think it will be Rahmani going forward. Unfortunately we have 0 depth at 86 now. But I think Rahmani can be good.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ghasempour tries to build himself to a 97 for 2028. The list of 86/84 guys who have done well at 97 is miles long. I don't think he really went full force on gaining weight when he was at 97 briefly last year. It seemed half hearted.

Firouzpour has to be kicking himself. At least he got 1 year break from Ghasempour keeping him off the team, lol.

If he goes to 97 he will have to deal with Azarpira,Yazdani and probably Firouzpour.  I don’t like his chances there.

i think Iran should hire David Taylor to coach team. 😀

I wonder if Nokhodi will want to move up to 86…

He has to decide between 74 and 86 for the Olympics

I hope Nokhodi goes to 74 and Ghasempour goes up to 92. As I've been saying Zahid is the kind of guy who could win it all. I don't think anyone is touching him if he continues to have Taylor as his coach. Firouzpour realistically needs to go down to 86kg if he wants to make the team.

I don’t think it will be possible for Nokhodi to go 74 and for firouzpor to 86 without a killer drop in performance. If my memory is right they were competing at these lower weights going back to being juniors and about 18 yr old.

Firouzpour is 23.  I expect him to get bigger.  I expect him to go up, not down.

Here is another thought

Amouzad looks really big for 65 to me.  He goes to 70 next year and 74 after that

Javan does to 65

It’s a shame in this conversation we can not mention too many recently emerging juniors.

My feeling is Amouzad best results will come at 65 so best remain there as long as he is able to. I see no problem with Ghassempour remaining at 86 if he can - I mean he has a good chance for meddling at 86 even with Kadiev and Valencia there vs DNP in 97.
I think Nokhodi frame is too small for 86 . A bit like savadkohi- a bit telling that for Paris 2024 he remained at 79 but granted Yazdani was there at the time. I think next 70 or 74 guys could be Sina Khalili and Ebrahimzadeh.  Ahora Khateri could grow to a decent 65 or even70. A dark horse is Yasin Rezaei at 65. He seems very talented technically but his games is full of holes and flaws. If there was a coach  to fix these he could have potential but I’m not sure if there is such a coach in Iran or even he is not too old for it…

Day 2 momeni 57 eliminated no surprise.

74 - younes loses a one sided match to takahashi , no surprise

79 - nokhodi looks flat but is in the semi. Most of this weight class has not looked great. I wouldn't mind seeing the greek win it.

92 - firouzpour in the semi final.

I thought he was leaving 65 KG a couple/few years ago.

So far, a shitty day

Nokhodi lost to a wrestler that deserved to win today

Firouzpour lost a match that he should have won.  The time wasting by the Russian was ridiculous.

so I am guessing we will end up with 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronzes out of the first 8 weights.

That's the problem with that terrible style of wrestling that is popular in Iran, guys can waste time. I will have to go back and watch that one, though. I didn't think the time wasting was too bad but maybe i'm wrong. I expected a lot more of Firouzpour. Ghasempour is fortunate. If Firouzpour got gold he would be in a tricky spot.

As expected Javan lost 11-2

Javan, so far, is the only one who exceeded my expectations

ghassempour, firouspour, yazdani and Nokhodi we’re disappointing

hopefully Zare, Amouzad and azarpira will save the tournament for us
