I think removing gable from the convo they are the two best heavyweights in the world. Masoumi has killed mason twice and mason is top 7 or so in the world.

Did Gable Steveson not lose  to a compatriot -Wyatt Hendrickson-recently? Is he still expected to be able to compete internationally for medals not having done anything internationally or created a track record in  international tournaments for what 3-4 years?

I want to say this without it seeming like I am taking away from Wyatts win. I think Wyatt can compete for medals on the senior level however I do not think he can compete with either Iranian. As for gable if they wrestled that match 10 times I would expect Gable to win 9 of them.

I guess the problem may be when Gable had the chance to come and defend his Olympic title( perhaps 2-3 times?) he didn’t take that chance. Presumably it’s fair enough to suggest that you got to actually come out and compete if you want to be considered a contender.

Gable seems to have backed out of coming back to do that but I’m sure we can say 9 out 10 years he will have come out and show what he is made of internationally but there were mitigating circumstances …

sorry I was not insinuating that gable would beat zare or masoumi 9 out of 10 times especially not now perhaps if he never took time off the sport. I meant the bout with Wyatt I feel he would win the vast majority of the time. I think wyatt is a good option for the united states he even does some things gable does not like he has a really good high gut and normal gut but I do not think he can contend with Masoumi or Zare right now.

I guess Mason Paris, Wyatt Hendrickson and Gable are all on the right side of 25 and I am confident they will all be in a position to give Zare and Masoumi or any other talented new comer, and  not to mention Geno a run for their money. Gable certainly is a great talent and if he now decides he wants to take his rightful place as a HW wrestler internationally we would be having a different discussion and the 9 out of 10 prediction may still come to pass ( although I get it that you meant this in the context of encounters between Wyatt and Gable).
