I mean, it could obviously be as simple as they just train harder than everyone else. I have a hard time believing that Cael puts them through workouts more grueling than the Iowa style, though. Maybe he's mastered the balance of optimal strain and recovery.
Aside from man-handling and being stronger than every opponent he faces, who we all know are on the juice. Can an all natty guy really do that against guys who are knowingly on PEDs?
I agree though, he doesn't look like the typical "roided-out" guy a la Boltukaev when he beat Snyder.
I know it's exciting, but the huge point swings on what seems to be subjective calls always have me confused. I.e. the Zahid / Brooks match, looked like Zahid scored more than 4 on the first exchange and it was just like it never happened. Many examples of exchanges like this that can decide the outcomes of matches throughout the tourney too.
Great story, it's pretty rare for somebody to fall off that hard and make it back to the highest level. Anyone who's had experience with addiction, whether it be yourself or a loved one, knows how deep it gets. Props to you, Marsteller.
I wonder how Brooks / DT goes down. Might take the Yazdani underhook to pushout approach, but doubt he'll gas like Yazdani did. Not sure Brooks has the hp of Yazdani at this point though, he wasn't able to move Zahid much.
I thought Sasso was up by 3? What happened there? Either way, not sure how Sasso effed that up with 8 seconds on the restart. Austin Gomez-esque brain fart
Did Spencer's dad state why he was giving the interview and now Spencer himself? Seems.... strange to have your dad do that. Askren even commented on FRL how Spencer is focusing entirely too heavily on what others think and not focusing on what matters. I think he's mentally hitting a wall of some sort.
