Hi red viking, how are you?
Bro, I get where you’re coming from, but as an Iranian who opposes the Islamic Republic, I actually hope the current Iran-US talks happening in Muscat, Oman don’t succeed and that the US attacks the regime.
See, I live in Tehran, and I could die if there’s a bombing. Even in that small 12-day war a few months ago - which wasn’t a big war - bombs were falling just a few kilometers from us. There was nothing we could do except tape the windows so the glass wouldn’t shatter from the shockwaves. But that was a small war.
Now the US has sent dozens of big warships to the Persian Gulf, and if a war breaks out, it’ll be a massive one. The chance of anyone in Tehran dying would be high. And yet… I still hope it happens. Why? Because if a war destroys the Islamic Republic, even if we die, maybe future Iranians will get a taste of freedom. It might not happen, but at least there’s a chance.
If the US doesn’t attack and Trump makes a deal with Khamenei, then defeating the regime from inside Iran becomes much harder. The Islamic Republic will eventually kill all of us protesters. So either way, we die — but if there’s no war, the regime will laugh at all of us afterwards. They’re so wicked that they even mock the corpses of killed protesters on national TV.
Now, this doesn’t mean I support Trump. I’ve seen plenty of his videos talking about Iran and the Middle East. The way he talks about this region is full of contempt. He hates us Iranians. He doesn’t care whether we oppose the regime or not. His view is racist.
But still, bro, we have no choice. We have to pick the lesser of two evils.
Of course, you’re looking at this as an American, so your perspective is naturally different from mine.
