  1. Askren got to redshirt and Chris got yanked out of redshirt his freshman year because of an injury. If Askren had to go as a true freshman this looks a ton different. And again, the Hodge was a different award back then. It wasn’t for the best wrestler in college. It went to the best pinner. I will never argue that Chris was a better pinner than Ben. He was just the better wrestler, as evidence by the fact they wrestled a ton and Chris dominated him. I’m honestly trying to remember another instance where one wrestler dominated another so thoroughly and people tried to argue the one who always lost was better.
  2. They wrestled a ton and Askren absolutely beat him once. It is well known. That is why I said 90%.
  3. I mean that is not even close to the same comparison and you know it. I don’t remember Jim beating John like 7 times throughout their career. Ben and Chris were both two-time dominant champs and Chris dominated Askren on the mat. If you want to say Ben had the better career because he got to RS so he has one more AA fine. I just can’t unsee Chris dominating Ben 90% of the time the wrestled each other (and they wrestled each other a ton).
  4. I’m taking Pendleton because I watched him dominant Askren time and time again. I know it’s crazy but I tend to think the better wrestler was the one who dominated the other.
  5. Think it is also important to note the Hodge was a lot different back then. Pins were the deal. You know who won the Hodge Pendleton's junior year? Emmett Wilson from Montana State- Northern. Chris was as good as any one in college wrestling those two years and I don't think he even got a single Hodge vote. The criteria was different. It would be one thing if the series record was 4-3. However, you have two dominant wrestlers (who wrestled at the same time) but one guy beat the other 7 out of 8 times. Chris was bonusing his way to NCAA titles.
