  1. That stall call on Messenbrink was funny to me. Of course, he grew up in Wisconsin so should be used to those kind of stall calls.
  2. I think the ref made that takedown happen by counting neutral danger early. But you can't overturn that. (edit: that not-quite-a-takedown)
  3. But not calling stalling when the guy is intentionally doing it to gain an advantage is impacting the match.
  4. They need to stop talking about that spladle - "he's tough for getting past that" of course he is, no wrestler at this level isn't
  5. Okay, as someone who laughed at that I will say that part of the reason that's the best one this tournament (so I said) is because they suck. Burroughs is okay but I really wish Jim Gibbons was in the mix.
  6. "you can't see her head because she's hugging his parents" is the best announcer call this whole tournament.
  7. I'd like to see them be less aggressive on the "fleeing the mat" stall call when both wrestlers are on their feet, and more aggressive on it when a wrestler is defending a single leg.
  8. Lol ain't this the truth. Unfortunately, I think it goes boring; Lovett being up 1-0 in the third and Henson picking neutral figuring he's got a better shot at the takedown than the escape (and being right about that).
  9. Yeah, he's a company guy (Burroughs) so he has to back what ESPN is doing, but I think the decision is actually bad business. Casual watchers aren't going to stay tuned the whole time if all they want is Starocci and Steveson, and dedicated watchers will watch the whole thing, except if they're 15 minutes late because they had dinner with their family they are going to feel cheated. Keeping the weight classes in order would have actually been fantastic. After the 184 pound match it gives you 7 minutes of what is going to clearly be a low-key match at 197 to decompress from 184 (which looks to be a really good one) and hype the heavyweight match (which may or may not be good, but will be entertaining).
  10. Honestly that win was total BS. And when he's backing like that the ref should be calling stalling every 5 seconds on the dot, he backed for 20 seconds so it should have been 4 points of stalling calls.
  11. Wait ... it's not called a coffee grinder everywhere? What do other people call it? I guess that being from Wisconsin is why I didn't realize that was a joke.
