It’s certainly not his best, but plenty of wrestlers aren’t at their best 11 months removed from double ACL surgery. I’d say that’s “not news” either.

Is #13 not outside the top 10? Even when he was forced to redshirt last year because he was not well enough to compete for a sustained length of time, Lee still majored the #11 ranked wrestler. As someone who is there year in and year out, I can tell you not all days in Carver are created the same. Today was not a very intense day in Carver. Why was today the ULTIMATE home mat advantage? It wasn’t. It was another Ho hum day in Carver.

Whatever advantage it is it would be unique to Iowa. Unfortunately no other programs are allowed to have passionate fans that show up no matter what and cheer for their wrestlers. It’s a unique phenomenon and unfortunately is not able to be replicated by Iowa State and many other opponents.

David Carr was not able to score bonus points against Patrick Kennedy who did not even place at the Southern Scuffle. as 2x AA and National Champion, David Carr was obviously nowhere near ready to wrestle if he couldn’t major a guy who has never wrestled at the NCAA tournament before.

As a season ticket holder to Iowa Wrestling meets for the last 15 years , and someone who was there today, I am fully aware of the Carver experience. Which is why I laugh that this was characterized as the ULTIMATE home mat advantage as opposed to the other years where Iowa has put ISU out to pasture.

“Ultimate home mat advantage” is a new one for me. What criteria must one meet to have the ULTIMATE home mat advantage vs a Regular Home Mat Advantage?
