CHICAGO, Ill. -- Douglas Lima and Alexander Shlemenko both were the big tournament winners at Bellator 57 in front of a sold out crowd at Casino Rama. It was just the second time Bellator Fighting Championships had visited Canada and everyone in attendance was treated to a show as they witnessed a pair of action packed tournament final fights, one of which ended by second round knockout. While Ben Saunders may have entered the fight as a slight favorite over the challenger Douglas Lima, “The Phenom†put this theory to rest in the second round when he ducked under a lead left from Saunders and knocked him out with solid right hand. "I knew it was there. We worked on that a lot last week; duck the left hook, come back with the right straight. It worked out great," Lima said. "'I'mm glad I got the win. It was hard but it paid off. Hats off to Ben. He's the greatest guy. He's a great fighter." Lima earns a title shot with the win, and will meet Bellator Welterweight Champion Ben Askren in Bellator's sixth season. Also ready for a rematch with the middleweight champion, Hector Lombard, is Alexander Shlemenko who won his second tournament final with a unanimous decision over Vitor Vianna. Shlemenko threw at least a half dozen spinning back fists and while nearly none of them landed they kept Vianna on his toes and left Shelemenko dictating the pace of the fight. “Storm†landed plenty of body shots and stayed the aggressor for the entire fight. It was an easy decision for judges after three rounds. Possibly auditioning for a place in the next Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament were John Hawk and Canadian Roger Hollet who was eager to earn a knockout for his fans at Casino Rama. Hollett tried to trade shots with Hawk in the center of the cage but had trouble getting past Hawk's jab. Hawk was also hell bent on holding him against the cage and slowing down the action. Whenever Hawk would let Hollett off the cage, he'd land a leg kick or a big punch and then get clinched on again. Hawk attacked his opponent with knees and foot stomps against the cage to the boos of the crowd, but in the end the judges awarded the win to Hollett by split decision not necessarily for landing the most punches but inflicting the most damage on the ones he did. At the top of the night, Alexandre Bezerra defeated Doug Evans in an exciting matchup where Bezerra applied multiple submissions to Evans, but Evans always managed to escape with a big slam. Eventually Bezerra caught Evans in a submission he had no answer for and at 4:04 of the first round forced a verbal submission due to heel hook. Bezerra said before the fight, "His first mistake was signing the contract for this fight," also saying, "I will become the Bellator Featherweight Champion. It's just a matter of time." “It was another spectacular, sold out night at Casino Rama. Shlemenko's game continues to evolve in a dominate win over Vitor Vianna. Lima, with one strong right hand, went from being the world's best welterweight prospect to being one of the best 170 lbs. in the world,†said Bellator CEO & Chairman Bjorn Rebney. Next week on November 19, the Bellator Lightweight Championship is on the line as champion Eddie Alvarez takes on Michael Chandler, the Season 4 Lightweight Tournament Champion. This is Alvarez' first title defense since he defeated Pat Curran at Mohegan Sun for Bellator 39. Also on the fight card will be champion Hector Lombard, who is set to take on former Trevor Prangley in a non-title Super Fight at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood. Fla. CHICAGO, Ill. -- After a tournament run that included dominating victories over a trio of top competitors, Bellator Summer Series Featherweight Tournament Winner Pat Curran rightly earned his title shot and will take on reigning Featherweight Champion and self-proclaimed “Baddest Man on The Planet†Joe Warren early in 2012 LIVE on MTV2 and in commercial-free HD on EPIX. Originally, Patricio Pitbull was scheduled to face Joe Warren, as the explosive Brazilian secured his title shot with a Season 4 Featherweight Tournament win. But Pitbull suffered a hand injury, and just recently elected for surgery that will keep him out of the gym for 3 months. With the delay, Curran's title shot has been moved up. Once healed, Pitbull will face the winner of the Curran-Warren Championship fight. “The timing worked out here,†Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney said. “To be able to temporarily lose a fighter such as Patricio Pitbull and then to be able to plug in another deserving title contender, Tournament winner and top five Featherweight in Pat Curran is a testament to the depth of our featherweight division.†For Curran, the Crystal Lake, Illinois native and Season 2 Lightweight Tournament Winner enters the title fight looking to keep his tournament momentum intact. After an impressive Peruvian necktie submission victory over Luis Palomino in the quarterfinals, Curran collected a unanimous decision win over Ronnie Mann. With the victory, Curran secured a spot in the Featherweight Finals against Marlon Sandro, widely regarded as one of the Top 5 featherweights in the world. Curran pushed the pace early, and in the second round delivered a devastating, highlight-reel roundhouse kick to the head of Sandro that left the Brazilian down and out. (Watch Here: http://bit.ly/qKvQ5m). Curran was awarded the knockout victory, but more importantly a guaranteed world title shot. “This is going to be a great fight,†Curran said. “. I know I have a size advantage going in, but the pace is always high with Joe, and is obviously a great wrestler, so I'm expecting the best out of him.†Warren enters the fight in unfamiliar territory as the Team Quest product is coming off his first career Bellator defeat as former Cuban Olympian Alexis Vila took Warren down in the quarterfinals of the Bellator Bantamweight Tournament. That fight is in the past, and the reigning Featherweight Champion is ready to get back into the Bellator cage. “Everyone knows I'm a world champ at featherweight,†Warren said.â€I'm defending my belt, so there is a lot a pride on the line. I thought I was the best bantamweight in that tournament, but I got caught with a shot. I'm excited to show Pat what it means to be in a war.†For more information, visit Bellator.com, follow Bellator on Twitter @BellatorMMA or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Bellator About Bellator Fighting Championships Bellator Fighting Championships is a Mixed Martial Arts promotional company headquartered in Chicago. CHICAGO, Ill. -- Brian Foster has a message for the Bellator welterweight division and its champion Ben Askren: “I'm coming.†The former UFC fighter who won his last two fights in the UFC and who sports a 18-5 record as a welterweight has recently signed with Bellator Fighting Championships in a deal that adds another legitimate contender to Bellator's already stacked welterweight division. Currently riding a four-fight win streak, including a TKO win over Forrest Petz and a submission victory against Matt Brown during his UFC run, Foster, who has finished all 18 of his career wins, is hitting his stride and has one thing on his mind. “I'm getting that belt,†Foster said. “I want to fight the best. I want to fight Ben Askren and take home that belt. I ran through my last two opponents and I'm better than I've ever been. I'm very happy to be a part of Bellator and I'm coming for the top spot. The Granite City, Illinois fighter has never gone to a decision in his career. With 10 wins by submission and eight by TKO/KO, the exciting Foster should add another threat to an already stacked welterweight division. Despite a medical setback in his career, Foster says he's now 100 percent healthy and ready to start on his road to the championship. “I've been seen by two of the best doctors in the state, they've medically cleared me and I feel great,†Foster added. “I'm looking forward to facing Bellator's best and becoming the next welterweight champion.†For more information, visit Bellator.com, follow Bellator on Twitter @BellatorMMA or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Bellator About Bellator Fighting Championships Bellator Fighting Championships is a Mixed Martial Arts promotional company headquartered in Chicago. CHICAGO, Ill. -- The action was fast and ferocious inside Memorial Hall as Bellator Welterweight Champion Ben Askren successfully defended his belt against Tournament Champion Jay Hieron and Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos both advanced to the Finals of the Bellator Heavyweight Tournament with first round finishes. Hieron began the title fight with an impressive opening round, defening against Askren's takedowns and controlling the pace. Askren got off to a slow start but warmed up as the fight went on, as his takedowns prevailed in the second, third, and fourth rounds. Hieron sensed he was down heading into the fifth and final round, and came out with heavy hands, including a crowd igniting spinning back kick to the chest of a stunned Askren. However, when it came time to raise the winner's hand, one judge saw the fight in favor of Hieron while the other two sided with Askren, 48-47. Askren now awaits the winner of the Season 5 Welterweight Tournament, which will be decided at Bellator 57 in a Finals fight between Ben Saunders and Douglas Lima. Neil Grove had a second shot at tournament glory after filling in for the injured Blagoi Ivanov, and was set to square off against “The Big Monster†Thiago Santos. “Big Monster†survived Grove's first attack and then dropped him with his first punch -- an overhand right. Santos then followed him to the ground and took over Grove's back to submit the former tournament finalist by way of rear naked choke 38 seconds into the first round. Prindle too would advance to the Finals following a heavy handed punch as he knocked Ron Sparks out cold while countering a leg kick. Sparks delivered an outside leg kick to Prindle early and let his right hand drop below his chin. It was at this point that the former five-time All Army Boxing Champion dropped him with a swift left hook and followed him to the mat for two more punches before a referee stoppage. The win was ruled a knockout for Prindle and took just 40 seconds. "This is why you can't blink when our heavyweights are mixing it up," Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney said. "Thiago Santos is a world-class jiu-jitsu player and showed his evolution as a mixed martial artist by putting Neil Grove down with a big punch; and Eric Prindle proved he's an absolute beast by knocking out a heavy-handed heavyweight in Ron Sparks. I cannot wait for this final on November 26 at Caesars in Atlantic City." "With Ben and Jay, I thought it was a good fight. I think Ben is being hard on himself and Jay is a world-class welterweight. No one's going to come in here and outwrestle Ben, and Jay presents a lot of problems for his opponents. I thought they both put on a strong show." Jake Ellenberger won a unanimous decision over Diego Sanchez (Photo/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images) UFC president Dana White has always said he's listening to fans and fighter. After a stunning come-from-behind third round on Wednesday night by Diego Sanchez against Jake Ellenberger, the message was loud, clear and consistent. All main events should be five rounds. Sanchez, who lost the unanimous 29-28 decision on the premier card for the UFC on Fuel TV, had mounted an unlikely, and thrilling comeback in the final moments of the third round in Omaha, leaving many fight fans to wonder what would happen if the fight had gone an extra ten minutes. "We blew it," said White in the post-fight press conference. "It should have been a five round fight." The UFC has some contractual obligations that might limit their ability to immediately make all main events five rounds, but White assured fans that the promotion is putting in the work to make it happen. "Somebody dropped the ball," said White. The move to five rounds might've meant that Sanchez, a fighter known to take abuse before making his move, could've overcome the early two rounds he gave up to the wrestler Ellenberger. Momentum had certainly shifted in favor of Sanchez. Sanchez used a mistake by Ellenberger with 90 seconds remaining to take down the former University of Nebraska-Omaha wrestler, and secure top position and ended in mount trying to finish Ellenberger with strikes. After a scramble Sanchez then converted to Ellenberger's back. He was unable to secure the hooks and was threatening to get a rear-naked., but couldn't lock it in. Though he wasn't able to earn the stoppage and also stopped just short of being able to earn a 10-8 round to force a draw. Ellenberger left the cage as bloodied and disappointed as Sanchez. The seemingly hasty decision to make the move to a consistent five round format wasn't without precedence. The first non-title fight to go five rounds was Leben vs. Munoz at 138 in Nottingham, England. The contract with Fuel TV didn't call for five rounds, and once the contractual obligations the UFC are complete all main events (42 events in 2012) will feature a main event at five rounds. The change of policy does mean that last-minute replacements will all be pinched between the draw of being on the top of the card, and the extra conditioning that's necessary to be competitive in the last two "championship" rounds. Recent events have been wrought with injuries meaning that fighters have not only had to trade in their competitive techniques (adjusting from one opponent to another), but now their training regiments will need to keep in mind that three rounds could soon become five. As fans saw with Shogun vs. Henderson those last two rounds of conditioning could mean the difference between a unanimous decision and a "Fight of the Century." Wednesday's Sanchez vs. Ellenberger fight was on Fuel, and that a free TV fight might have slipped away from UFC brass was a drug dealer giving bad product. The UFC listens to fans, but they also look at the bottom line, and a five round title event last night could have meant more PPV buys for years to come. When it comes to fans, fighters and finances, Dana White's ears and eyes are always wide open.

I am extremely proud to welcome these young men into the Virginia wrestling family." Here is a breakdown of the student-athletes, with their prospective college weight classes: George DiCamillo (125 pounds) • Ranked No. 3 overall nationally at 120 pounds and in top 35 of all weight rankings by InterMat • 2011 Ohio Division I State Champion • Three-time Ohio state placewinner (third in 2010, seventh in 2009) • 2011 Flo Nationals Champion, two-time Walsh IronMan Champ Nick Herrmann (133 pounds) • Three-time high school National Champion (has won freshman, sophomore and junior NHSCA nationals) • Three-time Texas state champion Cameron King (197 pounds) • NC State Champion, third as sophomore • Two-time high school All American (placed at both sophomore and junior NHSCA Nationals) Will Mason (125 pounds) • 2010 National Prep Champion • Three-time VISAA champion • Three-time Beast of the East placewinner (fourth in 2010, sixth in 2009) Dustin Roemer (157/165 pounds) • North Carolina Class 4A State Champion (145 pounds) • Two-time state qualifier (took sixth in 2010) • Father wrestled at UNC from 1987-90 James Suvak (184/197 pounds) • NHSCA Sophomore National Champion • NHSCA Junior National All American (fifth place) • Took third place at Ohio state championships in 2011 • Wrestles for No. 1-ranked high school team in America (same high school as UVa's Nick Sulzer, Shawn Harris and Gus Sako) Justin Van Hoose (141 pounds) • Three-time Missouri Class 2 state champion • Captured state titles at three different weight classes - 112, 125 and 130 pounds Zach Watson (133 pounds) • Four-time Tennessee state champion (aiming to become just the second five-time state medalist in Tennessee high school wrestling history) • Took second at NHSCA Sophomore Nationals (2010) and third at NHSCA Junior Nationals (2011) • Has career record of 147-3 • From same high school as UVa assistant coach Jordan Leen Chris Yankowich (141/149 pounds) • 2011 National Prep Champion • 2010 National Prep qualifier "Every year you sit down with your staff and try and take a hard look at your team," Garland said. "You try and see where you are thin and where you need help and that is how you attack recruiting from the most basic levels. Of course we also try to do everything we can to ensure we are bringing in the types of kids that are going to be able to handle the academic, mental and physical stresses that they will be faced with once they get here. "Finding that special kind of kid is certainly not easy and it takes a lot of work. We feel though that this year's class meets both criteria. We feel that we've been able to sign guys that love wrestling very much and are willing to do what it takes to earn a degree from one of the most well respected institutions for higher learning in the nation. On top of that we filled some needs in terms of our weight classes as well."

Oliver is coming off of a perfect 29-0 season, winning the 2011 NCAA individual championship at 133 pounds. His record included 24 bonus-point wins and his 82.8 bonus-point win percentage was the fifth-highest single-season mark in Oklahoma State history, sandwiched between John Smith's 1988 season and Kenny Monday's 1984 campaign. A staggering 10 of his wins were stopped by either fall or technical fall in the first period. He also had three bonus-point wins in four bouts on his way to the NCAA finals. He also placed fourth at the 2010 NCAA Championships to cap a redshirt freshman season that saw him compile a 32-4 overall record and a 8-4 mark against ranked opponents. Not only did he win the 2010 Big 12 title at 133 pounds, but he was also recognized as the Outstanding Wrestler of the Big 12 Championships. Parks earned All-America status for the first time last year with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. He advanced to the championship quarterfinals at the event before being bumped into the wrestleback, where he rebounded to claim three victories and secure All-America honors. He finished with a 30-5 overall record that included six wins over ranked opponents and three wins over eventual All-Americans. He also won his second-straight Big 12 title in comfortable fashion, picking up a 7-4 win over Iowa State's Max Mayfield in the semifinals and pitching a 4-0 shutout of Missouri's Kyle Bradley in the finals. Gelogaev returns to the Cowboys lineup after taking a medical redhirt last year with a chest injury that forced him to miss the entire 2010-11 dual season. Before that injury, he earned All-America honors wrestling at 197 pounds in 2010, his first year to ever wrestle at the collegiate level. He placed seventh at that year's NCAA Championships. New Kids on the Block Oklahoma State welcomes a pair of senior transfers this season that have a chance to make a big impact on the program. Cayle Byers comes to Oklahoma State after wrestling the previous three years at George Mason. The 197-pounder was just a single win away from earning All-America honors two years ago and enters 2011-12 as one of the top athletes in the country, ranked third or higher by Amateur Wrestling News, Intermat.com and WIN Magazine. He is undefeated in open tournaments this year as he claimed the 197-pound championships at both the Oklahoma City Open and UCM Open. Chris Chionuma comes to OSU after three huge seasons at NAIA Lindenwood. He earned the 2011 NAIA individual title at 174 pounds with a 40-3 record. His junior season included 12 major decisions, eight pins and six tech falls. He also earned All-America honors for his second-place finish in 2010 and his fifth-place finish in 2009. He has already impressed coaches in the wrestling room and hopes to crack the starting lineup at some point in the year. He won the 165-pound title at the UCM Open in his first event as a Cowboy. Asics All-Americans Live Here Oklahoma State has a staggering five former Asics High School First-Team All-Americans competing in its wrestling room this season. Jordan Oliver 2006 Albert White 2007 Mike Benefiel 2007 Chris Perry 2009 Josh Kindig 2010 Fargo Champs, Too A similar note can be made about the fact that Oklahoma State has eight former Fargo champions on the roster this year. Albert White 2006 Mike Benefiel 2007 Jon Morrison 2007 Jordan Oliver 2007 Jamal Parks 2007 Chris Perry 2008 Alex Dieringer 2010 Alex Dieringer 2011 Smith Family Ties While many coaches use the analogy of the team as a family, Oklahoma State's John Smith can take that one step further as three of his nephews currently wrestle for the Cowboys. Chris Perry is the son of Smith's sister, Cathy, and Zach White and Matt White are the sons of Smith's sister, Mary Ann. Up Next Oklahoma State takes on Missouri and the ninth-ranked Tigers at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, in Gallagher-Iba Arena

Hempstead, NY -- The Hofstra wrestling team will begin its 2011-12 dual match season and home schedule this Sunday, November 20 when the Pride host the Badgers of the University of Wisconsin at the Mack Sports Complex. Match time is noon. Sunday's match against the Big Ten Badgers will mark the home debut of the Pride's new head wrestling Rob Anspach. The Pine Grove, Pennsylvania native and Hofstra alumnus has served as an assistant coach on Tom Ryan's Pride staff for four seasons and Tom Shifflet's staff for five years. He took over after the NCAA Championships last March following Shifflet's resignation to enter private business. The Pride, who are ranked 24th by Division I College Wrestling, 30th by The Wrestling Report and are receiving votes in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I Top 25 Poll this week, return 17 wrestlers including seven starters from last year's 14-4-1 squad. Hofstra captured the CAA championship and placed 26th, with two All-Americans, at the NCAA Championships last March. The Pride opened the season last Sunday at the Binghamton Open. Hofstra put 16 grapplers on the mat in Binghamton and six finished as place-winners including senior All-American P.J. Gillespie. The Long Beach, New York product captured the 165-pound title in upstate New York and is 5-0 on the season and ranked fifth by every ranking organization this week. Senior Ben Clymer (Germansville, PA) at 184 pounds and junior Steve Bonanno (Wantagh, NY) at 125 pounds placed second while junior Paul Snyder (Greensburg, PA) finished third at 285. Sophomores Jamie Franco (Monroe, NY) at 133 and Matt Loew (Wantagh, NY) at 197 each placed sixth. Bonanno is ranked 14th in the country while Clymer is ranked 20th. Hofstra will be making one change to the expected starting line-up for the Wisconsin match as redshirt junior Justin Accordino (Wilkes-Barre, PA) will be dropping back to 149 pounds to replace senior Vince Varela (Rio Rancho, NM), who suffered a leg injury prior to the Binghamton competition. Wisconsin enters the week with a 3-0 record after sweeping through their Badger Duals last Sunday. Wisconsin posted victories over Loras (38-3), UW-Whitewater (39-3) and the number one team in Division III Wartburg (17-16). Seven Badger wrestlers went undefeated at six different weight classes throughout the three dual matches. The Badgers, who return 10 letter-winners and have added nine newcomers to its squad in 2011, are led by five starters from last year's squad, including NCAA qualifiers Cole Schmitt at 149 pounds and Ben Jordan at 165 pounds. Schmitt is ranked 13th and Jordan is ranked 16th by InterMat this week. Wisconsin will be without three of its 2011 All-America recipients, Tyler Graff (133 lbs.), Andrew Howe (165 lbs.) and Travis Rutt (184 lbs.), due to Olympic redshirt seasons. Head coach Barry Davis returns for his 18th season at the helm of the Wisconsin wrestling program. The Badgers will wrestle Princeton and Rider in Princeton, New Jersey on Friday, November 18 before coming to Long Island on Sunday.
