By the way, what happened to the democrats during the Kristi Noem's confirmation hearings today? For the most part they acted civil. What gives. Was Mayorkas's time as the Secretary of DHS so bad they just want to move on as quickly as possible.

You guys can learn to address him as Secretary Hegseth.
That is correct. He will be confirmed. After 4 years of Biden, Kamala and Mayorkas I think Pete will do just fine.

National archives shot him down. Monday at noon cannot come fast enough. Worst president in history.

The situation is crazy when citizen legislators vote against the interests of the citizens.
What is in the interest of the citizens to keep illegal alien felons in the country?
mspart
This is so typical of Washington DC. They create problems, crises and catastrophes through stupidity. The general average citizen can see the ramifications of what they want to do, easily. Then after it is nearly impossible to fix, they want to come to the rescue to help fix it.

Every single D voted against deporting illegal immigrants that have been convicted of sex crimes...seriously WTF??? How in the heck is this even a partisan issue??
The Democrats are very desperate to keep every (Potential) voter they can. Especially now that voter I.D. is being pushed really hard in most normal states. The Democrats voter base continues to shrink at an alarming pace, and they know it. Desperation is starting to settle in. They are losing their power and their relevance.

Basically genocide. No wonder u support the Israeli atrocities over there.
I'm just not a fan of terrorists. Life is to short to just go around killing people. that is a special kind of mental illness.

Then Hamas could stop fighting if it is suicide to do so. And it is as is being demonstrated. But you don't suggest that they should stop fighting. They killed more than some dozens. They brutally killed 1200 (100 dozen for you) on that wonderful October day when they were not in danger nor was Israel threatening them.
Who said war has to be proportional? Whoever said that never won a war. Hamas said that this was only the beginning and said they would continue this course of action. So Israel is supposed to kill 1200, call it a day, and wait for more of their people to be killed? You live in an alternate universe.
I have to say if Hamas does this again, they would be bringing on themselves total destruction. For themselves and those Gazans that they say are the UN's problem. You might have a complaint then.
mspart
Can we at least castrate the Hamas soldiers (prisoners) before they go home. Maybe be nice and just give them a vasectomy. That way they cannot produce more terrorists. Just an idea.

Nothing to do with Pete other than Walz was running for a position that is constitutionally higher up the ladder than what Pete has been nominated for. So you have a problem with Pete but not clod Walz who are both accused of the same thing. Now there is great look at D is good, R is bad.
mspart
One other thing. Pete went into battle with his soldiers and Walz ran away from the battle, leaving his men and fellow soldiers behind.

You must have had a real problem with Ted Kennedy then. Bill Clinton is ok though. Senator Mullin put the beat down on the Ds asking these questions stating that each one has seen or been drunk in an evening session and never demanded that any of them resign. This was an exercise in feigned self righteousness and actual hypocrisy on the part of the Ds.
mspart
Just read up on good old Ted. Got drunk at a party. Supposedly taking Mary Jo to get on a Ferry. He was in area he was familiar with and turned right and went down a dirt road when he knew to turn left to get to the ferry. So he was drunk. He was cheating on his wife. He drove off a bridge and killed Mary Jo Kopechne (she drowned). He left the scene of the crime. He didn't report the accident (crime) until 10 hours later the next day. He only got charged for leaving the scene of an accident. The Dems called him the Lion of the senate. Chappaquiddick.

These hearing will continue to be an absolute joke. Where is the list of members who used the sexual slush fund to deal with their sexual exploits? !8.2 million dollars of taxpayers' money was secretly used to settle 291 cases for years to cover up the exploits of congressman. Senator Mullins asked how many of you have showed up drunk to vote on legislation. Do Senators really have alcohol in their government offices in Washington DC? Pam Bondi will be confirmed, and she will do an amazing job.

I do not blame CA or LA for the fire starting. I blame them for letting a residential area burn to the ground. I blame them for pricing insurance out of the market so no one had fire insurance. I blame them for not maintaining areas where fire fuel was allowed to grow and did nothing to abate. I blame them for emptying reservoirs during fire season. I blame them for having a LA assist fire chief saying she can't get a 250 lb man out of a house, it is because the guy was in the wrong place in the house.
In a video defending the department’s DEI hiring practices, Deputy Chief Kristine Larson — who heads the Equity and Human Resources Bureau — addressed accusations that female firefighters aren’t strong enough to carry a man out of a burning building.
Her response: “He got himself in the wrong place if I have to carry him out of a fire.”
What fire department official talks like that? That is gross negligence!!!
mspart
California government is so incompetent. They have had these strong Santa Anna winds forever. That they don't have fire breaks that are 200 to 300 yards or more wide is unbelievable. The program to deal with wild fires and prevention gets over 3 billion dollars a year just from the state. Then you have hundreds of millions from county and city programs. You will always have the possibility of fires in that area. Where does all the money go. They have 2 main jobs, Fighting fires and fire prevention.

Can you, or this person, explain how a dam will prevent wildfires?
We have reservoirs all over CO. Big ones, small ones. There were a bunch right near a couple of fires that happened back in 2020. One of them was right next to Lake Granby, the third largest body of water in CO. Unfortunately, you can’t pump water uphill fast enough, and you can’t scoop it out in enough volume with an aircraft, to make much, if any, dent in a truly large fire.
The most effective thing is a couple of big ass bulldozers and a bunch of dudes with chainsaws working behind them. Remove fuel, starve the fire, keep it from spreading. And, in the mountain west, there’s an unlimited supply of fuel.

ahh ... good luck shoppn' and luring a Penn St wrestler.
I forgot to say you will have open up a huge wallet to get the 4 or 5 studs. Penn State's wallet is massive. In addition, they have the best coach and coaching staff in the history of NCAA wrestling. You might get some one of the studs is sitting on the bench but that is about it.

I'm feeling the same way. The season hasn't been bad thus far, but I'm just less excited about it. My interest in college sports in general has been fading a bit. It feels like the transfer portal, NIL, pay to play settlement, realignment, etc. have taken a lot out of the parity and tradition that used to make D1 sports fun.
Well said. The transfer portal is strange. Almost every decent wrestler is in the transfer portal or being lured there by NIL money. You don't have to develop wrestlers anymore just go shopping in the transfer portal. Just like that you have 4 or 5 studs.

I am an SC/Alabama fan. So I want to see Texas win but PSU and tOSU will probably win. They are looking very strong.
Interestingly, these teams would not have been in the mix last year with their end of year rankings. We are really seeing the best team coming forward this year I think.
mspart
I have felt for years that the Football selection Committee had been dodging bullets with the 4 team playoff model. The very first year when Ohio State won it, they were really 5th or 6th but the Big 12 didn't play a Championship game which knocked them out and put Ohio State in when they beat Wisconsin 59 to 0 for the Big Ten Championship. Ohio State won with their 3rd string quarterback Cardale Jones.

I guess they used the Turo app. Like the VRBO or Airbnb of car use. I only say this as being what I have heard. I don't know for sure really. It probably means nothing. But these guys are true believers and did not want to pollute the skies with gasoline emissions. Both were EV vehicles.
mspart
Doesn't mining all the minerals to build an EV car and battery cause a lot more damage to the environment then a standard gas car. I would think that an EV burning might be more destructive to the environment then a gas car burning. I know you were probably just joking about the true believer's stuff.

The first one was clearer targeting than the second. They were consistent
No one is even mentioning the incident you are talking about (other than you). The second incident is mentioned on every Tv network and on every website. It's being reported as the targeting call the referees screwed up. There must be a reason for that.

he was defenseless and it was helmet to helmet.
i'm not big on the targeting rule (and disagree with the call 8/10 times) but if this aint targeting, what is?
Maybe if you have a gun and you shoot the other player then that's targeting.

It doesn't have to be helmet to helmet. He led with his forearm. Hit him in the head. By definition of the rule book that is targeting
So you are saying they both should have been called targeting. Regardless how they called the first incident the second one was still targeting. Just because you screwup a call doesn't mean you screw up the second call intentionally. With a 50,000 dollar fine and 3 game suspension all this goes away. I really dislike dirty players.
-
I wonder who the person was that reviewed the targeting call? Can we get a name and what his credentials are. If that call is properly made ASU would have a first down on the 35. They had a lot of momentum and had a chance to win the game in regulation. So, the player that got knocked out from the hit has to go into concussion protocol his day is over (his career could be over). The idiot that hit him gets to continue to play IN THIS GAME AND THE NEXT GAME.I believe targeting should be a 50,000 dollar fine and a 3 game suspension.
Is it true that ...

Where is the Global Warming when you need it. We need it to warm up for the inauguration. We need it melt the ice caps so the water can was away all the debris from the fires in L.A.. All the Green New Deal emphasis and now LA is the least green place on the planet. There has to be millions of tons of caustic waste after the fires.
