It makes more sense that it was 2-2-2. If it were 4, then I think Kostsenich would have only been able to score 1 on a reversal. I'm an old folk style guy, so I can't say I understand the scoring. Thanks.

I'm sure this question is dumb, but didn't Cooper's 4 points put her up 10-0 before Kostsenich scored?

I think the funding opportunities were the determining factor in the last "golden age". Living the Dream fund, RTCs, the development of different media coverage making sponsorships and youth camps more profitable - All things that made the business end possible for our professional athletes. We can't know how well some of our guys would have done after their single Olympic cycle post college. I'm just happy to be decades past reading about it in a printed magazine. The future sure looks bright! It'll be interesting to see how the next generation navigates all the new opportunities. I'm aware of being old fashioned when it comes to loyalty. I could make an argument correlating loyalty to success, but I'm not invested in defending it. There is something to be said of the college years, though. JB was loyal to Nebraska and Manning. DT to PSU and Cael. Dake to Cornell and Snyder to tOSU, at least for those formative years. And, when those guys did move around, it didn't always correlate to more success, although that could have been more an issue of age - Perhaps with the exception of Dake who...well, never mind. Anyway, I'm curious to see how the young guys navigate these formative years in the age of NIL. I'll never argue against free markets....But, I have experience with 20yr-olds and their cognitive development that makes me cautious about seeing them chase money around. I hope they can develop into men that win Senior titles, and I suspect that it will depend on their investment in the programs they end up in.

He was just doing the team a solid on the bump up - nobody was challenging Blaze, and it opened the door for a competitor on his team. I think we agree that we don't expect to see him at 57kg ever again.
-
He looks like he’s 56

It made me wish for international rules, where there would be a 1pt penalty for a BS challenge. The only takedown won, so I digress.

It's a hard fit. I think the camps are attractive to a small school AD - It makes money, but for whom? Marketing of dietary supplements involving student athletes with the coach on top of a pyramid model is also challenging. Maybe if a for-profit university wanted a wrestling team, it would work. Otherwise, it's just cringy.

I'll add that Fix is only 26. And Blaze isn't just any HS kid - He picked off 3 former world team members. I agree, as long Fix is healthy and happy...I imagine he'll go until 2028.
-
There's no "true third", right? Seems useful in the weights with a reigning medalist.
-
PJ Duke is the second HS kid to make the Senior National team. That's pretty cool.

I found the era of reaching into a bag to grab a ball much more offensive to watch.

JB looking Old - Like, 2017 JB.

Gotta love this generation of USA women. I mean, it's easy to forget that Winchester has a World gold and silver while she's surrounded by the other USA champs. She's looking great!

James Green is a monster! Feet to back, then laces the place.

Yeah, he only scores enough to beat grown ass men as a 17yr old. Totally unworthy... Despite my sarcasm, I see the point. I think it'll depend on how he grows into his mature body. There's nothing wrong with winning stingy. He also doesn't give up enough points to be unworthy of the hype, and winning depends on both-sides of that equation.

Those fingers were taped from the beginning - I'd guess it's a recent dislocation/compromised knuckle, perfectly common in a finals match, just less-common for a guy who didn't wrestle yesterday. Both guys showed a lot of respect/caution. Blaze looking overmatched physically, which was true all day yesterday...

Vito gives up a shot-clock, tied 1-1, pushes action and gets 1 on a pushout. That's how it ends, 2-1 Vito.
-
Vito leads 1-0 on a shot clock point into the second Springs a leak from the back of his head, now wearing a wrap.

I see the parallels you're referencing. Blaze is only about a year younger than fix was when he started winning some matches at the senior level. I think the comparison is more accurate through Blaze's Olympic team trials, though. Back in April we were all impressed that he had made the national team after dropping a 4-2 loss to Suriano and coming back through consolations; 2-2 over Megaludis; 5-1 over Lilledahl FF from Fix, ;then 8-1 over Jax Forrest. Impressive run, but a 2-2 over Megaludis was the only win over an opponent that wasn't still in HS. Blaze's 4 wins yesterday mark a huge improvement since April. All his wins were over grown men, 2 over guys who've wrestled for senior world medals (one whom owns a silver), and shutting out Garrett. It's not like he's spent his month scouting those dudes, either - A week ago the 17yr old was bringing hardware home from U20s in Spain. I also like that he looks like a 17yr old beating grown men. It doesn't look like his physical attributes are what these veterans struggled with, rather it was sound fundamentals, rarely conceding any position, excellent mat awareness and clock management, perfectly cool in hot exchanges. So, yes, I think he will improve.
-
As long as he keeps slaughtering his heroes, YES.
-
I'm sorry that's your perception of what he just proved.
-
Just wanna remind everyone that Blaze isn't old enough to vote.
-
They both scored pushouts. They both scored shot clock.

Add it to the list of piles by Pyles.

Marcus Blaze took out Seth Gross. Kid keeps impressing!
