Highlight quarter:

139: Camden Baum vs Dale Corbin: Corbin has yet to break through and win one of the big ones yet but he has been top 3 in everything since Fargo going up against Camden Baum who is incredibly hard to get out of position and has only lost to essentially brandt harer and Aaron seidel in high school.

Just wanted to make this mostly for discussion but my god the seeds were terrible for this.

Would you have seeded one of them above Dekraker or Karson Brown?

oh no not these guys should have differentiated just the tournament in general. Bryce little for instance was seeded essentially as the 32 got Jax r2 and he is ranked top 5 in NJ. He just knocked of Conroy in the consis who I think is nationally ranked some places. Kevin Muyleart was also unseeded as a state runner up in PA last year, and beat the 3 seed in r16.

Gotcha. Yeah I agree there were a lot of weird choices to say the least. Willie made it sound like they give a lot of preference to PA kids

Interesting semi tomorrow. For my money Dale Corbin has improved as much as anyone in the last year. Last year he and Jax hit in the sem Mccort dual and Jax won 19-8. I think it will be a good indicator of exactly how much better Jax has gotten since this time last year when he was obviously still a phenom but not a guy that was perceived as a senior world 5th and u23 champ in a few months.

***I like Corbin- he has a garlic allergy; lost to Gilroy's Mendoza and Cortez this year (Gilroy is the garlic capital of the world) ... but he's improved. Jax by MD though.

***Where is Bo Bassett? Not like him to not wrestle but here we are...is he ducking Desena? 😄

***Most improved high school wrestler by far this last year is Jovanni Tovar and I don't think it's close.

Corbin is really tough. I think he avoids a tech or pin vs Jax.

He wrestles through everything very well impressive match. Would have liked to see Jax cut him more just because I wanted to see more neutral wrestling. High school also needs to adopt the neutral danger rule, now that it is in place watching someone lay on one shoulder blade locked through the crotch for 30 seconds is quite tough.

Oh I didn't realize there's no danger. I was wondering why it wasn't called. The commentator was saying it should be danger as well

unless it changed this year which is possible I do not think there is. It could have been though because I believe they adopted college OB. I have watched a lot of high school matches this year and do not recall a danger count though.

Jax and Brown with my early pick for HS MOTY

21-13 Final Jax (Scores table messed up the scoring majorly; I just rewatched to confirm it should have been 17-10 to start the 3rd period.) One 7-point move off a nearside cradle was the difference for Jax. Brown was down as much as 15-2 at one point; he did not wrestle scared at all

Poachers are about to start calling Karson Brown.

Yes, I think the brother connection will be enough to keep them away, but his stock is UP this year. If Pitt loses him, it will be very disappointing

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Not sure how the scorer got to 14 instead of 15. Also just my opinion but I thought that exchange at the end of the 2nd should've been scored a takedown for Jax and a reversal for Brown

Really wish they could have snagged Sidun. Also wish Brandt Harer was not following his brother to Rutgers (I think Brandt is probably the most underrated recruit I have ever seen)

I think Brandt could do great things at RU, but Conner has been underwhelming so far, and I don't know if RU gives him the same training environment as the bigger schools. But he has always kind of done his own thing, so that could work for him in college as well
