On the topic - being religious does not mean you aren't a POS. In fact, many of the biggest POS people do so by exploiting religion. So yes, he can easily keep it up regardless of his behavior.  

My observation is that the least honest and most deluded people in the world are usually religious. Those who loudly proclaim their piety are the biggest charlatans of all.

You always hear how someone couldn't have committed some crime because they are a "God fearing man" or "goes to Church every Sunday" while history lis littered with people who were both of these things and committed horrible crimes. The idea that being religious equates to being a good person is one of the biggest scams in human history.
