I feels like the team race pretty well solidified during the 1/4 finals. Do you all think it would add more excitement to increase the points earned for any combination of the blood round, consolation semifinals, medal bouts etc? I think this would increase engagement for the round and also reward balanced teams who may not punch anyone into the finals. Thoughts?

I guess it depends on the ultimate goal of the tournament.  Is it to reward the best performing team, or is it to provide the most entertainment value during a specific round or day of the tournament?

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

I would offer that it also depends how you measure performance. What’s the better team: 10 AAs or 5 national champs and 5dnps. There is something to be said for keeping an entire team healthy with no weak links.
