Rasul Khadem speaks in support of the people of Iran

I wonder if they will let him ever be involved in the national team again? He seems to have distanced himself from wrestling and now only does humanitarian work. Him and Ali Daei are incredible assets to Iranian sport so it would be a shame if they couldn't be involved in some capacity.

Aside from Abdevali and Hedayati is there anyone promising to look out for? Most of these guys seem new.

I glanced at the 130 kg entrants. It looks like a wasteland. Too bad he wasn't at Zagreb to face the ear ringer.

Payam Ahmadi (2025 world silver, beat Azizli) is listed at 55kg

Abdevali, Abdi, and Naghousi listed at 77kg

Fardin Hedayati at 130kg

the others are younger with less international experience. but Iran always sends a stronger team to the Asian Championships, so we'll see near full strength teams in April

It is clear what the 22 Bahman attendees want.

22 Bahman attendees? 🤣 You mean the military, IRGC, and Basijis who show up in civilian clothes with their families? Or the government employees forced to be there? Yeah, it’s pretty clear what they want. They want to keep their jobs and not get their paychecks cut. 🤣

Or maybe you mean the poor villagers who've never even seen Tehran and get bused in with 'free trip' promises and a can of tomato paste? (I mean, isn't the upgrade from Sandis to tomato paste proof enough that the U.S. has failed in the region? 🤣🤣).

And what about the thousands of students whose schools are mandated to drag them out to these rallies? I remember when I was a student, the school would literally take us to those marches every year.

Are you saying the anti-government protestors prior to 22 Bahman do not want the Shah?

You guys used to say Pahlavi couldn’t even get four people into the streets. So how did all those protesters suddenly become “Pahlavi supporters” in your narrative? To answer your question: many protesters see him as a transitional leader, not necessarily the next Shah. Some might want a monarchy, others definitely don’t. Protesters aren't a monolith.

I had no idea Iran was so divided between the shia and secular segments of society. I'm not aware of any other middle eastern country where divisions run so deep between those two groups?

Yazdani is a great wrestler, but 86 kg distorted the reality of how far separated was from everyone but Taylor.

I am not shia, or even religious in the slightest, I am just not retarded enough to insult one of the legends of Iranian wrestling because I need to politicise everything. That is really beyond the pale. There is no talking to such people.

If you're not even religious and still support the Islamic Republic, then you're even more of a bastard than Khamenei himself.

Happy Ramadan to those who celebrate.

Look at this snake. Claims to be non-religious, yet comes here to wish everyone a 'Happy Ramadan' !!! And where? On a forum full of Americans, and Iranians who spend every day shitting on the Islamic Regime. These regime sycophants are such pieces of work.

If you're not religious and we aren't Muslim, then take your 'Happy Ramadan' and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Emami wins gold in 74

Kadiev wins a very stacked 86 Kg convincingly.

Iran missed a golden opportunity by not sending someone at 86.  Would have been great to see Ghassempour compete.

Emami did very well he beat Sheriev which I didn't expect. Kadiev is getting better and better it will be interestng to see how he shows up for Worlds this year. I'm expecting Ghasempour to compete at Asians and maybe one other tournament just before worlds tbh. I don't see him wanting to make 86 that much.

Kadiev looked VERY good, but that final was deceptive because it was a close match before he got like 5 laces to get the tech. Maybe he was even losing before that sequence? Admittedly I was watching Dake mostly but Greece got a TD and it was pretty even on the feet from what I saw.

I think Kadiev and DZhioev + Iran are the three favorite in 86 at this point.

Dzhideov victories in the past 12 months are pretty amazing for someone so young.

i think by the Olympics either Rahimi or Shamsipour will be representing Iran in 86
