if iran wins the two finals tomorrow, this will be one od the most dominant wins in recent histoy.

Maybe he just hates having to make a team or has a beef with the Russian federation because they made him miss the Olympics? 

Mamedov was clearly angry with the Russians for not letting him compete in Paris. 

I assume that he made a deal with Russians - he was missing the Olympics due to political pressure and in return they were signing the letter of attestation (so letting him leave Russian Federation). 

All the injury talk is distraction. He did not take part because he was moving countries. He hasn't represented Russia after Seprember 2023 - 2 full years.

Last year, or maybe earlier, he started the process for changing federations to Bulgaria, which paid at least 260,000 USD, and most probably much more informally, to Russia. Then at some point leadership in Bulgarian federation changed and they don't want the transfers to represent Bulgarians - only locals.

We are in this moment - now if you have a solution please present one.

I think the current Amouzad is p4p best freestyle wrestler in the world.  Shamil can push him no doubt and its good to fight for your position because it make you train harder .

GR was ripe for the taking. Russia was a paper tiger, coasting on the legacy and fumes of the soviet era in the 90s through 2010s.  

A country who put together a critical mass of participation and concentrated training from a young age could topple them. And it looks like Iran did. Congrats.

I completely agree with what you said. Aside from Russia there isn't really any other country with both the resources, interest and population size to compete with Iran across a 10 weight world championships. Olympics definitely but not worlds. It would be nice if the US could develop some high quality greco guys to make the competition more competitive. Raney looks really promising and I think he could fill out to be a solid 60kg or 67kg guy in the future with the right coaching. Maybe he could come to Iran and we send some of our light weights to the US to train FS.

You can only change your competing nationality once.. so if Russia-Bulgaria transfer is complete (and I assume it can't be rolled back if the money is paid, documents exchanged etc), then Mamedov is stuck with Bulgarian wrestling nationality forever.
