HAWKEYES: The First Season With Iowa Women’s Wrestling

I’m sure there was a topic (or multiple) about this already and I’m super late to the party, but rewatching it now…

I love this series and that it’s on YouTube! My freshman year of HS we had a girl on our team that everyone beat the sh*t out of. I was always so impressed at her resilience. I’ll be honest that I was the only one (that I knew of) that wrestled her not-dirty and didn’t slam her face into the mat at every possible chance. Being a girl dad now, I’m proud of that.

Anyway, good watch. I have a ton of respect for Clarissa Chun (coached by one of my idols Sammie Henson), but I want to puke every time she says “women in sport”. It’s “women in wrestling” of “women in sports”. I don’t know why it bothers me so much.

Also didn’t realize Bella Mir is Franks daughter. Kind of feel for her…don’t think she knows where she wants to go or how she wants to live her life in general (especially after her loss to a major underdog). Seems like there are some self esteem issues there.
