Oh, and the correct answer is "Carter Starocci".  A combination of reasons: I don't like the 5x national champ thing, I don't like his abject refusal to say anything nice about any of his competitors, along with his twitter fingers s--t talking, and finally (this has nothing to do with Starocci) Parker Keckeisen represents everything good about the sport and it'd be great to see him finish on top again.

You don't like the fact that Carter received 5 postseasons yet are rooting for a guy who also got 5 postseasons.

I believe Josh stays at 197 for next season. Staying at 197 will allow Barr to continue to add good weight (he has mentioned he cuts a few pounds to make 197) while still being able to cut down to 86 kg for freestyle events. I believe wrestling 184 is less optimal for his freestyle pursuits as a cut down to 86kg from 197 seems like a better strategy than wrestling as a small (relatively) 86kg'er who comes up from 184 lbs. Cutting to 86 kg while wrestling 197 was successful for Bo and Aaron. Even Taylor was cutting a lot of weight at the end to make 86 kg.

Bo Nickal was undersized at 197.

I can't believe parco broke like that. He will never beat SVN.

Teemer will be fine, he just came back from a serious injury and was still in that match with a very good kasak.  He is still a title contender.

Messinbrink with an insane beat down of Caliendo. Caliendo saw that intense pace three times before and had a full year to prepare for it and yet somehow the gap got larger.  Who is a bigger lock to win ncaas this year, Gable or Messenbrink?

Ferrari looked good.  Like really really good!

Buchanan had a nice savvy vet win but I still feel like it's going to be hard for him to beat Barr two more times this year.

Penn State seems to have far superior conditioning up and down the lineup. What happened? Iowa used to be known for their pace

If Kasak wrestles Teemer again he will widen the gap.

If Barr wrestles Buchanan again he will pass him.

I kind of agree (but I don't because you are talking about a high school match against someone on one leg, and he didn't place at drexel), but in the same breadth are you willing to admit that the Desanto who graduated was a way better citizen than the one who showed up? Developing him as a person is part of coaching, and despite the fact that he did cringy stuff at Iowa too, it definitely became less and less of a factor.

I remember the general fan base loving Desanto's antics until EIWA's where he tried to injured Tucker..

That win over Lee in h.s. was something no other h.s. wrestler was able to accomplish, so pretty good. Again, not saying he got worse just that its hard to laud "improvement" based on coaches "developing" his talents when he went from consistently beating a guy to consistently losing to that same guy in exactly the same manner each and every time. Just where was the development from his coaches there?

People seem to forget Desanto was ranked number 2 in the country behind Lee before the upset, so again he was already pretty damn good.

It's not like this is being used for seeding. It's just a stupid list. But like anything, you can argue the veracity of each one. If you beat a guy the year he wins it...I think you can count that.

    It's kinda a meaningless award.

So Starocci doesn't have the most NCAA Champs beaten. He's got 4 of them himself! That's the determining factor.

Sure, it's just a discussion. My point though is i don't consider Metcalf's wins over JB or Mollinaro as wins over NCAA champs. Where as Carter's wins over Nolf, Derringer, Lewis, Griffith, and Keck are undeniable.

I would never say Paul Jenn beat a 4x Undefeated NCAA Champ where as I would absolutely say Larry Owings beat a 2x NCAA champ..

I think he will grow into 133 at some point but fair point since 2010 I think Mcdonough,Delgado,Spencer are the only guys to win 2 or more.

Stephen Abas won 3 titles at 118/125.

    He went 4, 1, 1, ORS, 1.

Know you qualified your post with since 2010.

Uh…brooks was a 4x champ up with the big boys and just dethroned the olympic champion at his weight.  Last time that happened was…Cael?

That was a generation ago, sounds generational to me.

It really depends on scope though.  If you say talent out of maryland, yes generational talent.  Takent out of the PSU room? Well, he kinda just did what was expected.

To be honest to the word, generational talents in coaching would be gable and cael, and on the mat would be baumgartner, smith, jb, snyder, saitiev, and sadulaev.

    Synder's from Maryland
