If CSU was TRULEY serious about their Wrestling Program, they could bring in out of state tuition and more money. The program hasn't had an All American in the past 30 years. Let that sink in, 30 yrs!!! Check my research, but I don't think a NCAA qualifier since 2020. The institute never has and never will commit to a National Search for a top tier staff. I know it’s comparing apples to oranges, but Ohio State has a paid recruiter for their wrestling program. PA, OH, CA. NJ, IA are the top high school wrestling programs year after year and CSU can't even keep a 3 star or 4-star kid home.
The Cleveland State University men’s wrestling team is made up of 32 wrestlers. The team has an academic progress rate of 958, which is a measure of how well they do in the classroom. Cleveland State University brought in $391,707 in revenue from its wrestling program while paying out $398,681 in expenses. The program had net loss of $-6,974.
Wil be a sad day, but this may be the end to the program and Cleveland holds the NCAA's March 2026.
CSU cares about basketball and the program loses money as well. Cleveland State University brought in $2,708,461 in revenue from its men's basketball program while paying out $3,128,202 in expenses. Net loss of $419,741.
The sports teams at Cleveland State University brought home $14,782,161 in revenue while shelling out $14,553,259 in expenses. In other words, the sports department made a profit of $228,902. That’s a whole lot better than taking a loss!
