David Taylor is the best coach in the country.
Penn State is the best team in the country. And are still favorites for next season.
Last year, Penn State beat the team scoring record but that feat was eclipsed because Oklahoma State heavyweight beat the likely Hodge winner. This year, PSU again beat the team scoring record but again Oklahoma State dominated the attention with 3 true freshman champions and a second place finish.
Oklahoma State is the hottest team in the country (see above).
Jax Forrest is the new face of college wrestling. He’s the most captivating & awesome wrestler in the country (yes, more than MM).
PJ Duke was robbed/screwed. The way he handled it was a masterclass.
Until Iowa has a changing of the guard they will continue to vie for 4th - 6th place.
The "David Taylor effect" is real. Hopefully his success brings Yianni, KD, and most importantly JB into a HC position.
Scoring & Reviews
The video review system in place needs to be fixed. Spending several minutes to review a call is unacceptable and completely destroys the pace of the match.
Need to institute push-out points. Edge wrestling is a version of stalling and rewards the wrestler who’s not taking a risk.
Rideout TB needs to go away in favor of 1-min Sudden Victory. If the match is tied in regulation then heading into SV the wrestler with the least stall calls should have “advantage” which means if no points are scored in SV (takedown, stalling, or penalty) the wrestler with advantage will win at the end of the minute.
The bottom line is Folkstyle should be geared towards Freestyle, if Americans are to dominate. USA can compete but no reason we shouldn’t dominate.
