  1. 68kg 2nd round is going to be interesting... Ishii(2022 senior world silver) vs Miyaji(2021 senior world silver) Imai(Japanese military) vs Furuichi(2022 senior world bronze/Japanese military)
  2. Kagami with a tough first round win against Yamamoto One of the high schoolers just won her opening round match by pin
  3. Japan's #1 at 76kg Yuka Kagami is wrestling now
  4. You have three high school competitors here at 65kg.
  5. The same wrestler has to win the Emperor's Cup AND the Meiji Cup to be the rep at whatever weight. All of the best wrestlers are going for the Olympic weights. if the same person doesn't win both, there will be a playoff between the winner of each tournament for the world team spot.
  6. The one to watch at this weight is Moe Kiyooka and pretty much nobody else unless any of the top 3 at 53kg bump up for next year's national tournament after losing this weekend.
  7. Like right now, two teammates are wrestling against each other and they're both lower tier.
  8. They all dropped to 53 or went up to 57
  9. Haha, yeah but you know what I mean
  10. I can understand why Nanami did just because she lost to Okuno not too long ago right before U23, been destroyed by Shidochi and has literally never been close to beating Fujinami. That would be like if Dom had a sister that was also a medal contender, but went into senior nationals at the same weight.
  11. I'm hoping not because seriously.....why would they both go 50kg?
  12. Yuki got married and her new last name is Tanaka
  13. That is going to be the weight to watch for sure. The only way Susaki loses is if the Irie sisters have been scheming something
  14. I'm pretty sure it is. They're going by the current UWW rules.
  15. Yep, going on right now
  16. 50kg- Both Irie sisters confirmed for 50kg.....which is weird.
  17. Nah, the deadline is on the 17th.
  18. Not a complete list
  19. Not sure, but he was born in '58, so he could be a relative
  20. Not that this will impact anything in this tournament, but it's confirmed that Nanami Irie(2019 55kg senior silver) will be competing at 50kg instead of her sister, Yuki. She's never competed at 50kg. The last time she was close to this weight was 2013 when she was 18 and competed at 51kg where she finished 3rd. Mayu Shidochi finished 2nd in this same tournament while she was 16 and in high school. Mayu pinned Nanami in the semis when Mayu was up 7-0 and then Mayu lost in the finals 6-6 on the much hated ball grab that I'm glad is gone.
  21. Why are the senior world championships and Olympics grouped? Two separate events and one way more prestigious than the other.
  22. As far as the matchups you mentioned, all of those were folk, right?
  23. I saw the schedule over the weekend. It'll be great! Are you going to even be able to watch? I think the 53kg finals are EARLY Christmas morning if I'm remembering correctly.
