  1. I believe they are. I’m attaching a link as reference. Relatively the same skill and same weight class. I think Logan is the best, but that’s me being biased. Something to note is that Logan lost at the Big 12s to Johnson, and then his brother (29 over 4) beat him at nationals. Seems he gave his brother the cheat sheet. This makes me wonder if it’s as simple as your brother telling you what to do or what to look for in a match in order to win such an upset. I know Paniro is an up and down wrestler, but I don’t think anyone had him losing his first round. https://gopoly.com/sports/wrestling/roster/logan-gioffre/6882
  2. I don’t necessarily mind Gioffre. I think, currently, the closest replacement would be Seltzer. With that being said, I’m not certain this would be the replacement they need. Say Mendoza goes 41 and bumps Edmond up, I still don’t think that’s a good enough solution. Gioffre is okay in duals (doesn’t give a lot of points up, typically, but also will not score a lot of points). After this previous year, it seems a number of the starters prefer to be defensive or simply can’t finish their attacks. I’m no coach nor do I have the experience to comment on this approach, simply stating what I’ve noticed. I think if Gioffre isn’t the starter, we will see the exact same scenario as when he was. Anyways, this isn’t the thread for that discussion I guess. I just finish Brian Smith’s book, and I’m eager to see how the team performs next year. Will be nice to see new faces next year or the year after.
  3. Not sure if I missed something, but I don’t see Gioffre on there anymore. I thought he had another year left.
  4. I have nothing to comment on Jordan Williams. I don’t think Sinclair is too far behind these guys, if at all. His match against Plott was discouraging, but I believe that was his first match at 184. Barr and Sinclair were trading wins and losses just last year, with Barr being a year older and already in the Penn State room. If Sinclair can get down to 74 then that’d be optimal for this next year, but I’d be surprised. Being the number 1 recruit at 195 in high school tells me the guy is strong, whether his body shows it or not. In all reality, I think Angelo and Sinclair look relatively the same size. I think he’d do just fine at 84 but we all know he needs some conditioning/work on his gas tank. I’d be curious to see if Hawks (I doubt it) can get down to 74.
  5. This. I’d rather hope Roller and Rath play into 49 and 57 and solve that problem. Sinclair and Peyton at 84 and 97 (if and when Rocky leaves). Team looks fine, just not the greatest depth at the higher weights. Taking in two (I think) transfers that are already injury-proned to a team riddled with injury would be silly.
  6. No offense taken, but I don’t think so. I’d rather grow our recruits than bank on paying for possible all Americans. Both were very high recruits and have consistently underperformed at NCAA. Maybe that’s just my bias, but I don’t even think this is as big of a get for Iowa as people think it is. Bailey goes up to 141 for Iowa and doesn’t All-American. Mizzou can’t afford to have their best recruiting classes leave. They’ll more than likely have one of their 125/133 leave without even getting any lightweight transfers (Bailey). Mills brothers coming in, they’re good on lightweights for a while. Williams would’ve been a good grab (I guess, we’ll see if he all Americans or if he peaked in prep. Probably the latter).
  7. (This is my first post) As a Mizzou fan, I’m not necessarily mad we didn’t get them. We already have a log jam at 125 and 133, we don’t need someone like Nasir Bailey (obviously the main focus in that package) messing that up any more. We had two 125/133 red shirt this year, if we get Nasir I’m afraid those guys leave. Seems like a lot of Mizzou fans forget about Jace Roller who red shirted this year. I want to say he’ll be 149, I may be wrong. With Mendoza coming in and what I see being 141 (think he redshirts and waits for Edmond to leave), think we’re pretty well off. We have too many good recruits to be hitting the portal. Our focus should be finding a 174 and right now there aren’t too many options. My eyes are on Facundo and Chittum, although I like Conway.
