I don’t necessarily mind Gioffre. I think, currently, the closest replacement would be Seltzer. With that being said, I’m not certain this would be the replacement they need. Say Mendoza goes 41 and bumps Edmond up, I still don’t think that’s a good enough solution. Gioffre is okay in duals (doesn’t give a lot of points up, typically, but also will not score a lot of points).
After this previous year, it seems a number of the starters prefer to be defensive or simply can’t finish their attacks. I’m no coach nor do I have the experience to comment on this approach, simply stating what I’ve noticed. I think if Gioffre isn’t the starter, we will see the exact same scenario as when he was.
Anyways, this isn’t the thread for that discussion I guess. I just finish Brian Smith’s book, and I’m eager to see how the team performs next year. Will be nice to see new faces next year or the year after.
