  1. When it comes to the Hodge Trophy there is "Dominance" score and bonus % that is referenced a lot when comparing wrestlers. I also wonder if a helpful stat of like Team Points/Mat Time (PPM-Points Per Minuet) to get an idea of how much wrestling a guy is actually doing to dominate. I am not saying that this stat should/shouldn't qualify a wrestler for Hodge or be the end-all-be-all of stats when deciding a winner, however I do believe it could be helpful data when the finalist are very close such as this year. Team points would need to be scored as though they are dual team points, this way all matches can be scored evenly. Example pins are worth 6team points in a dual and at CKLV/Conference/NCAAs. Scoring this way would reward aggressive wrestling/dominance for all matches, which is something I believe a Hodge Trophy winner should be in the first place. PPM would reward pins (especially in the 1st period) & Tech Falls appropriately, would hurt guys who have to go to SV/TB to seal the win, and it would greatly punish losses. This could be applied for multiple categories such as vs All Opponents, vs Non-NQ, vs NQ, vs R12, and vs AA. If there was a weighted scale (WPPM) based on the average number of matches past Hodge Trophy Winners vs each category have in the year they won. With the weighted scale it could put more importance on Wins/bonus point wins vs AA as those matches would be included in the vs NQ, vs R12, and vs AA. The weighted scale would also allow for bonus points wins (especially 1st round pins) vs Non-NQ. Example WPPM=(0.3*PPMvsNon-NQ)+(0.3*PPMvsNQ)+(0.2*PPMvsR12)+(0.2*PPMvsAA) (The weights {0.3 &0.2} in the formula above are just guesses, these would likely be adjusted to better reflect past Hodge winning seasons if that is what would be best for a baseline.) This is just an idea that I have and am interested in seeing what the finalist for this year would be.
  2. This is an updated version of bracket I posted on another thread. This version has some fixes for previous bugs and has been updated to the latest results after session 2. This bracket can be used to either keep track of the tournament as it progresses or to project outcomes. Feel free to share, just tag me in it if it is, @drewnewcomb. HOW IT WORKS: Weight Tabs (125-285)- User Inputs Match Results (and Team Penalties if required) There is a tab for each weight class that includes the bracket that will automatically fill out the bracket as you select the result of each match up (yellow box beside each name that has a drop-down list of possible result). Based on this selection the bracket will automatically update the team points associated and progress each wrestler further into the bracket. Below the bracket on each tab there is a table keeping track of each wrestler’s team points that they earn (Advancement, Bonus, and Placement). In this table there are also options to input team penalties (See 125 tab for Iowa), also if a wrestler is Disqualified user must select “YES” under the column labeled “DQ”, if selected the total points for the wrestler will automatically be 0. Team Scores Tab (TEAMSCORES)- Automatically updated This tab automatically updates the team scores, features include: Each wrestler’s seed, total points, maximum total points, total bonus points, championship bonus points, consolation bonus points, and placement points. Each team’s total points, total points, maximum total points, total bonus points, championship bonus points, consolation bonus points, placement points, team penalty points, and number of wrestlers still available. There is also a portion of this table that includes total number of wrestlers in the tournament for each team and the averages for seeds, total points, bonus points, championship bonus points, consolation bonus points, and placement points. Finishers tab (FINISHERS) - Automatically updated This tab includes the finishing placement for wrestlers from AA, Blood Round, and Round of 16 for each weight. Session Running Score Tabs (S# Running Score) – Automatically updated There is a tab for each session that includes a table for each round and weight class in each round of the running score for each team. 2025 NCAA WRESTLING BRACKET VERSON 2.5.xlsx
  3. UPDATE: THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE BONUS POINTS ON 125-149 BRACKETS IT HAS BEEN FIXED. SEE BELOW FOR VERSION 2.3 2025 NCAA WRESTLING BRACKET VERSON 2.3.xlsx
  4. I have updated the file to version 2.2 SEE FILE IN THIS POST UPDATES: 174 Bracket update (Tyler Brennan Situation) Finishers tab now includes the round of 16 finishers. Team & individual score now include Maximum Possible to determine maximum possible points a wrestler can get, automatically updates based on input match results. 2025 NCAA WRESTLING BRACKET VERSON 2.2.xlsx
  5. Haha love it! I'm actually an engineer, but we are pretty good with excel as well.
  6. I HAVE UPDATED THIS SO IT SHOULD WORK BETTER ON GOOGLE DOCS OR IF YOU HAVE A LATER VERSION OF EXCEL 2025 NCAA WRESTLING BRACKET (UPDATED).xlsx
  7. I've got one similar for the Big 12 that includes BYEs its a little more intricate as far as some of the issues go incorporating that. 2025 BIG12 WRESTLING BRACKET PROJECTIONS VS ACTUAL.xlsx
  8. Awesome, sorry about that. Its always a work in progress.
  9. Interesting. Not sure where the "_xlfn." came from. Must have something do with it being uploaded. The formula in thename portion should be =IFERROR(TEXTAFTER(INDEX($B$56:$B$88,MATCH(I2,$A$56:$A$88,0))," "),"") let me know if that fixes the problem
  10. Can you send a screen shot? The last names should transfer over. Make sure the only edits you make are in the yellow cells, any other changes can mess up the file.
  11. Do with it as you please. Right now it is not capable of doing anything more than keeping track of the tournament based on what a user picks. Anything more than that is beyond my capabilities.
  12. Last year I decided I wanted to see if I could make an excel file that to use for the 2024 NCAA Bracket to fill out and see how close I could get on projecting team points. This year I have upgraded the file a bit and have it ready for the 2025 tournament. This file can be used to either pick your own results or you can follow along with the actual tournament and fill it out as you go. HOW IT WORKS: There is a tab for each weight class that includes the bracket that will automatically fill out the bracket as you select the result of each match up (yellow box beside each name that has a drop down list of possible result). Based on this selection the bracket will automatically update the team points associated and progress each wrestler further into the bracket. The file keeps a track of each team point earned via advancement points, bonus points, and placement points just as trackwrestle does. There are tabs for each session to keep a running team score. There is a tab for overall team points that includes each wrestler based on team and the points they earned. There is also a tab for Finishers that includes the AA and blood round finishers at each weight. I have attached the blank 2025 NCAA Tournament file and the 2024 NCAA Tournament file to this post. Enjoy, if further instruction is needed to operate let me know. 2025 NCAA WRESTLING BRACKET.xlsx 2024 NCAA WRESTLING BRACKET.xlsx
