  1. I'm guessing Pat Pop and Tannenbaum didn't think they'd be connected to these OT kings

  3. Wow, not related at all, but stumbled across it. Ryan Morningstar wrestled in 9 overtime matches in 19 matches at the NCAA tournament. He had 5 in a row spanning the 2009 and 2010 tournaments.

  5. Cam Amine is close, but he's a 4xAA.
  6. I also only have data through 2021. Now I"m going to have to go searching through pdfs just to prove a point.
  7. hmm. I'm stumped. ╒══════════════════╤══════════╤══════════╕ │name │placements│seeds │ ╞══════════════════╪══════════╪══════════╡ │"Daryl Weber" │[6, 6, 1] │[6, 99, 5]│ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Brian Realbuto" │[5, 2, 6] │[2, 2, 7] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Jeff Catrabone" │[7, 3, 3] │[3, 3, 5] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Brandon Precin" │[3, 7, 3] │[4, 8, 3] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Max Askren" │[5, 7, 1] │[6, 5, 6] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Adam DiSabato" │[4, 6, 3] │[4, 6, 4] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Thom Ortiz" │[2, 4, 7] │[2, 5, 7] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Temoer Terry" │[4, 3, 6] │[3, 2, 2] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Mack Reiter" │[5, 4, 4] │[8, 4, 3] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Cliff Moore" │[6, 1, 6] │[6, 5, 2] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Darian Cruz" │[1, 7, 5] │[4, 99, 1]│ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Ethan Lizak" │[2, 4, 7] │[6, 8, 6] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Steven Schmidt" │[4, 2, 7] │[3, 2, 1] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Cory Cooperman" │[7, 3, 3] │[99, 3, 4]│ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Greg Wagner" │[6, 3, 4] │[6, 3, 5] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Sebastian Rivera"│[6, 4, 3] │[10, 3, 1]│ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Mark Smith" │[4, 5, 4] │[1, 1, 2] │ ├──────────────────┼──────────┼──────────┤ │"Leroy Vega" │[3, 5, 5] │[3, 10, 3]│ └──────────────────┴──────────┴──────────┘
  8. Also Sonny and Robert have a common opponent connection string...
  9. Sonny was seeded 8th in 2010. Wouldn't that take him out of the criteria of not being seeded in the top 8?

  13. Very nice! This format seems oddly familiar though . What do you think @Wrestleknownothing?
  14. I'm assuming the number is the total championships, not count of individual 3x'ers?
  15. James Green has had more international success, however since 1988 he is second only to Cael with bonus point wins at the NCAA tournament at 16. Cael’s at 18. Nolf and Taylor have 15. @WhoIsJamesG And Zain had 13 consecutive bouns point wins at the tournament starting his sophomore year.

  17. Thanks @Wrestleknownothing for the shout out. To clarify...it's only NCAA DI tournament matches. But still pretty cool. I had a pipe dream to get as many tournaments as possible (I got banned from wrestlestat at one point for trying to scrape the whole site ). I put all this data into a graph database, which if you are a fan of the transitive property in wrestling, would be your dream data set. This type of database allows you to quickly see opponent of opponents (that you have or have not wrestled) and all different flavors of that question. I created a dashboard with NCAA results here. It's not prefect, I only had a two week trial of the software to get everything finished. https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/matt.grogan/viz/ncaa_wrestling_dashboard/MainMenu I've collected some information from my database over the years that is interesting to me at least.
