LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In its second home dual of the season, Bellarmine wrestling delivered a convincing 36-3 win over Queens on Saturday night.

The bouts started at 141, and the first match produced Queens' only points of the night.  Bellarmine then proceeded to rattle off nine consecutive victories, adding extra points in the final four matches.

"We had a lot of output tonight," Knights Head Coach Ned Shuck said.   "I couldn't be more proud of my team's attitude and effort out there. Our consistency continues to improve with every competition. It is easy to see their confidence building in the way they wrestle and with every score in their matches.  We can't wait to get back in the room again to keep building in preparation for VMI at home on Friday!"

Zac Cowan started Bellarmine's scoring with a 21-9 major decision victory over Nico D'Amico at 149.  Cowan's win was his second consecutive bout scoring more than 20 points.  With the team score 4-3 Bellarmine early, Grant O'Dell pushed Bellarmine further ahead with an exciting 3-1 win by decision in extra time over Toure Moore at 157.  Senior Alex Rivera used a riding time point to edge out Vladimir Sukhikh 6-5 at 165, and Devan Hendricks bested JT Skalecki 11-5 at 174 to put Bellarmine up 13-3.

Kennedy Wyatt topped D'Andre hunt 7-3 by decision at 184, and Bellarmine led 16-3.  Then, the extra points really started to pour in.  Royce Hall wasted no time at 197, pinning Riley Kuhn in 36 seconds – the pin was Hall's second this season and the fastest pin by a Bellarmine wrestler this year.  Thadd Huff put together an impressive 10-0 win by major decision over Joshua Voelkel at heavyweight which propelled Bellarmine to a 26-3 lead.

The dual circled back to 125, and Jack Parker added Bellarmine's second fall.  Parker pinned Ashton Thompson at the 3:40 mark, marking Parker's fourth pin of the season.  Michael Schiffhauer padded the final score with a 16-5 major decision victory over Ananth Manibushan at 133.

The 36-3 win moved Bellarmine to 3-2 this season.

Bellarmine continues its four-dual homestand with a SoCon battle against VMI on Friday.  The action is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. inside Knights Hall.
