#2 Overall Junior Jax Forrest to Oklahoma State

Two days ago, the #1 overall recruit in the Class of 2026 Bo Bassett made his collegiate decision. Now, it’s Bishop McCort teammate Jax Forrest’s time. Forrest is currently ranked #2 overall in the junior class and would likely be #1 in most classes. Forrest joined FloWrestling’s FRL to announce his commitment to wrestle at Oklahoma State.

Forrest was a 2024 Pennsylvania AA state champion at 127 lbs. There’s a good chance Forrest would be a two-time champion had his school been eligible to compete in the 2023 postseason. He’s currently ranked #1 in the nation at 132 lbs.

On a national level, Forrest has captured a pair of titles at the Super 32 and was third on two occasions. Earlier this season, Forrest won the Walsh Ironman for the first - after finishing as a runner-up the previous two seasons. He also has a pair of Junior National freestyle titles from Fargo, the most recent coming last summer at 132 lbs.

Before each of the last three high seasons, Forrest has been selected to compete in FloWrestling’s “Who’s #1” dual meet. Each time he’s been victorious with his most recent win coming over Illinois’ Seth Mendoza, 7-3.

Forrest had experience outside of the United States, as well. He was a U17 World silver medalist in 2022 at 55 kg. In 2023, Forrest wrestled in the best-of-three series for another spot on the U17 team. Forrest also fell to the eventual U20 world champion, Luke Lilledahl, in the 2024 U20 World Team Trials. At the 2024 Olympic Team Trials, Forrest advanced to the third-place match, despite being one of the youngest in the field.

Forrest’s commitment now gives Oklahoma State two of the top three juniors in the country and four of the top 22. On Sunday, we wrote about #3 Dreshaun Ross (Fort Dodge, IA) committing to the Cowboys. Now, David Taylor’s program has two blue-chippers within the same week. The pair join #14 Rocklin Zinkin and #22 Kellen Wolbert in a Cowboys Class of 2026 that looks extremely imposing. The Class of 2025 is excellent too, with three top-ten recruits and 10 Big Boarder’s total.

With the recent run on elite prospects from the Class of 2026, there are only three wrestlers currently in the top-ten that are uncommitted #6 Jordyn Raney, #7 Jaydn Raney, and #8 Michael Mocco.
