Jagger's Friday Mailbag - 7/12/2024

Welcome back all to another Friday opening of the fake mail. Oddly, I have to send an actual piece of mail complete with a stamp this very morning which is very strange for 2024. But that’s neither here nor there. It’s nowhere. It’s the height of summer and I’ve never felt this strong so let's get into it. 

Is the wrestling community over-promoting women's wrestling? Are most wrestling fans interested in men's freestyle wrestling and shouldn't that be the focus of coverage? Women have near zero participation in football and yet the NFL is wildly popular. Don Graven 

I didn’t really know what to make of this question at first. I had never heard of Don Graven. I’ve never heard of anyone named Graven. Not even in Game Of Thrones. Is it legit? Is it a troll question to mess with me? Should I deny Don Graven a happy Friday morning poop because he didn’t make the mailbag? 

Perhaps it’s best to appease Mr. Draven and answer the best I can. To put it bluntly, you don’t have to read it. And I don’t get why it bothers you. I admit I’m not as big a fan of WFS as I am MFS, but I’m also not as big a fan of MFS as I am college wrestling. We all have our preferences, but there is more than enough media and time to cover it all. Whether it’s InterMat, Flo, or Vecchiomania, everyone wants to cover the biggest event in our sport and all the athletes deserve the spotlight. Amit Elor is doing incredible things right now and even if you don’t follow the women’s circuit, she’s earned your attention come next month. I’m not going to even try to understand how the NFL plays into this. 

How do I go on with UWW_Creative gone? Where do we go from here? Rage Against The Pusheen 

The permanent Twitter ban of the man who creates the storylines has affected us all. But don’t sleep on this new creative committee. The new bookers came out with a bang and split up Penn State into NWO Hollywood and NWO Wolfpac to set up a long-term feud that could last a decade or more. The weekly vignettes where AJ Ferrari tells us he visited Northern Colorado seem to hint at his return in a few months and Bo Bassett is coming out every Wednesday and sending teams home like it’s The Bachelor. Then just a few weeks from Paris, they booked the entire Russian team to stay home! I have to think they have a huge angle brewing for The Games. If UWW Creative was Jim Cornette, then this new guy in charge is Vince Russo.

ISU has bathrobes. Oklahoma State has cowboy hats. What does Rutgers need to add to their warm-ups? I vote top unbuttoned shirts & gold chains on comically thick chest hair.  Burger King of Kings 

I like where you’re going with this but it’s a little too comical. This isn’t Baseketball (that’s not a typo I’m talking about the movie), where every team is based on their home culture. But what if it was? We don’t want to look ridiculous out there but we do want to represent our state’s culture. I’m all for warming up in blue jeans and tank tops at least once a year. Screw it, make Rutgers-Princeton an entire Bruce Springsteen look-alike contest. 

Could Cohlton Schultz eat 200 boneless wings for America? Baby Duff 

I don’t see why he’d want to. Or how it benefits America. Unless the idea is to eliminate as many boneless wings as he can so the rest of us don't have to suffer them. As we near lantern fly season in the northeast, I see a comparison. Nobody wants them, we don’t know where they came from (China), and nobody has a clue how to get rid of them. We wish they would both fly away and neither possesses bones. Maybe Cohlton does need to step up and thin the herd. I’ll handle the lantern flies. 

Can the Mets release Pete Alonso since the Cubs keep signing all the guys they release? Indiana Mat 

So that’s why you’ve plummeted in the standings. But you have a big series this weekend against the hated Cards and Daniel Vogelbach is currently a free agent. He’s pals with Alonso so we could have a LeBron/Bronny situation here where it’s a package deal.
