Izzy Martinez to Team w/ Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff on New Freestyle Wrestling League

This morning, the world of professional wrestling and amateur wrestling collided as Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff revealed that Chicago area club owner Izzy Martinez was the “third man” in an upcoming venture which they will call Real American Freestyle Wrestling. On Monday, Hogan and Bischoff released a video on social media hyping up this venture and teasing their “third man.” 

For those unfamiliar with the world of professional wrestling, Bischoff was the Executive Producer for World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in the late 1990s when the company unseated then-WWE atop the television rating for 83 weeks. This was largely due to the heel turn of longtime fan favorite Hulk Hogan, who was the mysterious “third man” in the New World Order (NWO) faction. 

Last week, Bischoff attended the US Open and was photographed with one of Martinez’s top proteges - 2024 Olympic silver medalist Kennedy Blades. I briefly spoke with him as well. 

Martinez has been instrumental in the launch of the PNL (Premier National League) which is a conglomerate of some of the top wrestling clubs in the country. These clubs get together a couple times per year for high-level competitions. 

Martinez is well-known outside of the wrestling community for his work with high-profile UFC fighters. He has served as a wrestling coach for UFC champions Jon Jones, Holly Holm, and Yair Rodriguez.
