    Virginia Tech dominates Chattanooga

    HAMPTON, Va. -- No. 13 Virginia Tech won nine of 10 bouts in its 35-4 victory over Chattanooga in the first round of the Virginia Duals on Friday morning at the Hampton Coliseum.

    The Hokies (3-2) had three bonus point victories, including two by fall, and won nine straight matches after dropping the 125-pound bout. Tech will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. where they will face Old Dominion. The winner of the match will face the victor Arizona State vs. Virginia.

    MATCH NOTES
  • The Hokies now lead the all-time series against Chattanooga, 9-8, and improve to 20-22 all-time at the Virginia Duals.
  • Tech has won three-consecutive duals after dropping its first two matches of the season.
  • After a 6-1 decision for Korbin Myers at 133 that got the Hokies on the board, Mitch Moore secured a first period pin in 1:32, his fifth win by fall in his last six matches since returning from injury.
  • Lewis won by tech fall in 3:18 at 165 pounds, giving him six bonus point wins on the season.
  • Zavatsky's win by fall in 5:55 marked his second pin of the season and the eighth of his career.
  • Wins from Ryan Blees and B.C. LaPrade, who racked up 3:32 of riding time in his 7-0 decision, kept the line moving before Tech's ranked upper weights put the match out of reach.
