    Upper Iowa signs future Peacock

Upper Iowa Head Wrestling Coach Heath Grimm announced the signing of Stephan Swart to an Athletic Scholarship for the 2007-08 season. Swart, a Waukon, Iowa native, is transferring to UIU from Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa. Swart attended Hawkeye for the last year after graduating from Waukon High School where he placed in the Iowa High School State Championships twice.

Swart was named All-District First Team following his junior and senior seasons and All-District Second Team after his sophomore campaign. Swart was a two-time Iowa High School State place winner taking fourth his senior year and fifth his junior year. He was a Northeast Iowa Conference Champion and accumulated 100 wins in his Waukon career, which ranks him seventh in the fifty-two year history of Waukon wrestling. Swart was twice named team MVP.

"I am pleased to have Stephan join our wrestling program. He is a dynamic young man with a lot of potential. He is originally from South Africa. Swart's family moved to Waukon when he was entering sixth grade, where he was exposed to wrestling for the first time. His eagerness to learn and to train are characteristics that all successful collegiate wrestlers must possess," said Coach Grimm.

Stephan is the son of Hansie and Louise Swart and will major in Education at Upper Iowa University.

Swart will join Arron Cramer (Grimes, Iowa) and Kyle Pedretti (Monona, Iowa) as new faces on the Upper Iowa wrestling team next season.
