    Portland State's Schneider wins Mike Clock Open

    FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- Portland State junior Jake Schneider won the 184-pound title at the Mike Clock Open Sunday. The Milwaukie, Ore., native topped Southern Oregon's Chase Locke, 6-5, to wrap-up a 4-0 day at the local tournament.

    Schneider won a 13-4 major decision over an unattached Luis Nava in the first round, then pinned Simon Fraser's Chris Amoroso in 32-seconds. A 10-3 decision against Pacific's Nick Locke sent Schneider to the championship round.

    Freshman Steven Dailey finished the day 3-1 to place second at 149-pounds. After pinning Southern Oregon's Lewis Nakao in 3:30, Dailey defeated an unattached Richard Alves, 7-0, and Pacific's Nathan Shay, 10-2. In the final round, unattached Adam Hall topped Dailey, 11-3.

    Portland State officially opens the 2006-07 season on Nov. 12 at the ASU Duals in Tempe, Ariz., against Embry- Riddle and Arizona State.
