    Missouri wrestlers head to Tennessee-Chattanooga

Columbia, Mo. -- The No. 8 Missouri wrestling team will complete its regular-season schedule Saturday, Feb. 18, traveling to Chattanooga, Tenn., to take on both UT-Chattanooga and UNC-Greensboro at Maclellan Gym. The Tigers open action in the three-team meet with a dual against UT-Chattanooga at 1:30 p.m. EST, immediately followed by a matchup against the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. CST.

Head Coach Brian Smith's squad faced UTC twice one year ago, with each team taking a victory. Wrestling in the first round of last year's Virginia Duals, the Mocs knocked Missouri out of the championship bracket with a 19-16 upset, but the Tigers evened the score by taking a 22-15 win in their last home dual of the campaign. The Missouri wrestling program has never faced UNC-Greensboro.

Last week the Tigers knocked off Iowa State in Ames, Iowa, which marked the first time since the 1927-28 season in which Missouri has beaten the Cyclones on the road. Missouri enters the weekend in the midst of a three-match winning streak over ranked opponents, having beaten then-No. 10 Oklahoma, No. 7 Iowa State and No. 25 Northern Iowa over the course of the past two weeks.

Sophomore Tyler McCormick (Leawood, Kan.) will square off against No. 7 Matt Keller, to whom McCormick lost a 7-4 decision at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Dec. 2. Ranked No. 16 at 133 pounds, McCormick has emerged victorious in five of his last six bouts, the only loss coming to No. 2 Nathan Morgan of Oklahoma State Jan. 22. Also facing a familiar ranked opponent, senior Chris McCormick (Leawood, Kan.) will face No. 20 Kevin Artis of UNC-Greensboro, over whom the Tiger earned a 4-1 decision Dec. 3 at the NWCA National Duals. Chris McCormick is 27-9 on the season, with victories over four ranked opponents.
