The Chippewas (5-3, 1-0 MAC) held a 26-3 advantage in takedowns in the match and scored bonus points in five of their eight victories.
The Bulls (1-4, 0-1 MAC) were able to take a short-lived lead with a victory by Angelo Malvestuto in the first tie breaker over Jackson Lewis to start the match, but CMU rattled off eight-straight victories soon after.
Sophomore Adam Robinson put the Chippewas in front with a 12-3 major decision at heavyweight. Robinson led 4-1 after the first two periods and was able to earn bonus points with three third-period takedowns.
Redshirt freshman No. 13 Corey Keener continued his hot start to the 2013-14 campaign with a 9-4 decision over Buffalo senior Max Soria, before No. 12 Joe Roth posted a 12-4 major decision at 133 pounds.
Redshirt sophomore Zach Horan nearly pinned his opponent in the first period and took a 5-0 lead through one behind a takedown and three-point nearfall. The second-period escape and third-period takedown allowed Horan to earn a 8-4 decision.
The victory of the afternoon came at 165 pounds as senior Zack Cline took advantage and earned a reversal in the second period to swing the momentum in his favor. Cline opened the third period with a takedown and accumulated riding time to post a 5-1 decision.
Junior Mike Ottinger, ranked No. 12 in the country at 174 pounds, dominated his opponent for the final CMU victory of the night. Ottinger earned five takedowns to earn a 13-5 major decision.
CMU is back in action next Sunday when they travel to Ann Arbor to take on in-state foe Michigan.
