Buffalo took a 4-3 lead after Mark Budd scored a 9-0 major decision over Danny Mitcheff (Lorain, Ohio/Elyria) at 133 pounds.
Sophomore Drew Lashaway (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green) gave the Flashes a 6-4 lead with a10-4 decision over Andrew Stella at 141 pounds.
Senior Jason McGee (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls) registered a 14-1 major decision over Jason Hilliard at 149 pounds as Kent State took a 10-4 lead.
Junior Kurt Gross (North Royalton, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) scored a pin of Justin Hunt in 4:47 at 157 pounds to increase the Flashes' lead to 16-4 heading into the intermission.
Buffalo's Mike Ragusa scored an 8-4 decision over freshman Sli Bostelman (Tontogany, Ohio/Ostego) at 165 pounds to pull the Bulls within nine at 16-7.
Senior Aaron Miller (Uniopolis, Ohio/Wapakoneta) defeated Nate Rock 6-3 at 174 pounds for a 19-7 KSU lead.
Sophomore Eric Chine (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) scored a two-point take down of Ray Lamb with two seconds remaining in the third period to break a 1-1 tie and score a 3-1 decision at 184 pounds.
Kent State won a 6-0 forfeit at 197 pounds to take a 28-7 lead with one match remaining.
Sophomore Jermail Porter (Akron, Ohio/Firestone) notched an 8-3 decision over Jason Weber to close out the match.
Kent State (14-2, 3-0 MAC) hosts the Ohio University Bobcats at 2 p.m. on Sunday (2/11) in the final home match of the season for the Golden Flashes.
