Double champion at the Pan-Am Junior Championships last month, Anthony Cassioppi (Hononegah, Ill.) has verbally committed to the University of Iowa, as first reported by Trackwrestling's Andy Hamilton. He does so this Independence Day having previously committed to Northwestern close to nine months ago. The No. 32 overall wrestler in the 2018 class was a state champion this past season after earning All-American honors in both styles in Fargo last summer, third in Greco-Roman and runner-up in freestyle.

After the scholastic season was done, Cassioppi was a Junior National folkstyle champion this spring before earning placement finishes at the UWW Junior Nationals in both Greco-Roman and freestyle. He joins No. 60 Nelson Brands (Iowa City West, Iowa) as a top 100 Hawkeyes commitment for their 2018 class, and projects to compete collegiately at 285.
